Weekend heat cranks up

Drought summer rolls on

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -The drought summer of 2024 reared its ugly head again on Thursday. Predicted showers fell over a small percentage of the region then forecasted as a cold front slowly passed thru the region. Sure a few communities benefited from a downpour, but true to form, drought summers tend to see rains fade as they cross the region. And with this latest front thru will come a lower humidity and with it the prospects of new rains will have to wait for either Sunday night or Monday. With highs making 90 on Thursday then, the notion of 90 degrees into the weekend is a valid one given the dry ground.
