BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Repairs are underway Tuesday night on part of U.S. 119 North in Boone County after heat-related damage to the roadway closed the northbound lanes, county 911 dispatchers said.

According to West Virginia 511, the damage happened near the intersection of Big Pinnacle Branch Road. That’s just north of Julian.

Dispatchers say the roadway, also known as Corridor G, expanded and broke up into large concrete pieces. The damage was reported just before 6 p.m.

Drivers are being directed to use an emergency lane to avoid a backup.
