Gabrielle Russomagno is an American photographer and multi-disciplinary artist who has explored a range of subjects from the signposts and artifacts of American culture to the emotional landscape of coming of age.
Exhibiting internationally since 1985, her artwork is held in the permanent collections of the University of New Mexico Museum of Art, Yale University Beinecke Library, the University of Pennsylvania, the Bibliotheque Nationale, the British Library, the National Library of Wales, the National Library of Scotland, the Bodleian Library Oxford, Trinity College Dublin, UK, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, among others.
In 2008 she co-founded the art collaborative TangenT, focused on immersive installations that explore social and political themes. Her current installation work is dedicated to materializing the complexity of personal and societal narratives on a warming planet.
She received her BA in Studio Art and American Studies from Smith College and her MFA in Photography from Yale School of Art. She is currently on the BFA faculty at The School of Visual Arts in New York City.
Throughout her career, Russomagno has worked as a production photographer for independent films. A resident of Bucks County, Pennsylvania and Brooklyn, New York, she has been teaching and working in Philadelphia and New York since 1990.
