As the World Food Programme (WFP) marked its 60th year, our mission of ending hunger had never been more urgent nor more challenging. More than 300 million people faced acute hunger in 2023 because of new and protracted conflicts, the global climate crisis, economic aftershocks of COVID-19, and food and energy price inflation. More than 40 million children, women and men faced starvation and needed life-saving assistance.
The Annual Review 2023 is based on the Annual Performance Report. It uses key data and background, in addition to powerful storytelling and strong photography, to describe how we supported 152 million people despite huge challenges and shrinking resources. It also describes the impact we had on individuals' lives, in offsetting the effects of disasters and seeking to build more secure and stable futures.

WFP’s Annual Performance Report is the main annual accountability report that presents WFP’s achievements and challenges for the reporting year. The APR provides results on WFP’s global performance, describing who we assist, how we assist them, how funds are being used, and what results have been achieved. For a summary of the results, see the WFP 2023 Snapshot.
