Kristen Lago

Sports Reporter

Kristen Lago joined the WESH 2 Sports team in June 2023 as a sports reporter and weekend anchor. Previously, Kristen worked as a sports multimedia journalist and sideline reporter for Spectrum News 1 and Spectrum Sportsnet in Los Angeles – the same station that she got her start at five years ago.

She was born and raised in Southern California and feels fortunate to have reported on all things sports in her hometown for so long. While there, she had the privilege of covering everything from high school sports to all eleven professional sports teams. Some of the highlights of her reporting include her work covering the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl Championship run at Sofi Stadium in 2021, creating and hosting a Friday Night special that highlights up-and-coming local athletes – including then Mater Dei quarterback Bryce Young who was just the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, and working the sidelines for the WNBA and NBA G League.

Kristen is an extremely proud graduate of the University of Southern California, where she had the opportunity to work as a recruiting and operations assistant for the football program and intern for a variety of organizations, including with NBC Sports for the 2016 Olympics.

She is so excited to make her first move out of sunny California and what better place to do so than the Sunshine State. Kristen is passionate about showcasing both the person and player in her reporting and is ready to bring those stories to life in Central Florida.

Plus, as the daughter of two proud Cubans, her extended family in Miami and Tampa are so ready for her to be a Florida girl.

When she’s not working you can find Kristen at home with her maltipoo Luna, watching any USC sporting event, or at a high energy workout class. She is always up for trying new food spots and will never turn down a good chocolate chip cookie.
