'1887 Night Market' will feature more than 35 local Black-owned businesses

1887 First is kicking off its inaugural 1887 Night Market on Saturday from 5-9 p.m. at 307 E. Kennedy Blvd.Organizers say this monthly event, held the first Saturday, aims to celebrate and highlight Black vendors and culture, fostering community engagement and group economics in the historic Town of Eatonville.More than 35 local Black-owned businesses will set up to offer a variety of goods and services.Organizers say the market is a tribute to the nation’s oldest incorporated and self-governed African American municipality.“We are excited to bring the 1887 Night Market to Eatonville. This market is more than just a shopping event; it’s a celebration of our culture and an opportunity to support local Black-owned businesses. By participating in group economics, we can strengthen our community and ensure a prosperous future for all," said Julian Johnson, the president of 1887 First.
