Central Florida's theme parks are always a top spot during the summer with travelers coming from all over the world. July 4th is typically one of the busiest days. However, experts say this year, the crowds thinned out a little bit at Disney, Universal and SeaWorld.

"The question that we had was, why, and where else was it happening? And that was sort of what we were interested in researching," said Len Testa the President of TouringPlans.com.

Testa looked at the numbers based on wait times. His team received updates every five minutes.

He believes the weather had a lot to do with people staying home this year.

"The fact that it was much hotter than normal. And you had the chance of the fireworks being rained out. Why would you why would you leave the house. And the other reason why you know it's true is the next day the Wednesday crowds were back to normal," he says.
