Michaila Franklin

Michaila Franklin was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.

Her News career began in Jackson at 16 WAPT News. When she first moved here she had no idea what to expect. Within 3 years, Michaila quickly climbed the ladder.

She started off as a News Producer on the weekends and Multi-Media Journalist in January of 2021. She remembers her first introduction to the business being the ice storm that gripped all of Mississippi and sent the capital city into a water crisis. She knew then she was right where she was supposed to be.

Fast forward to 2023, she’s been named 16 WAPT’s Weekend Morning Anchor.

Michaila never imagined she’d be in a position to represent thousands of Mississippians. She believes being a journalist is so much more than being on TV or a billboard. It’s about connecting with you all every day.

Other than working in news, Michaila still loves to get competitive on the soccer field. She played college soccer at the University of Montevallo. She graduated being 2nd team all conference.

Despite being thousands of miles away from home Michaila unconditionally loves her Mom, Dad, and husband.

Michaila believes Mississippians have made her a better person and have pushed her to grow in ways you would never know.
