Police have launched an investigation after a man died of his injuries at a recycling centre in Cardiff. Emergency services were called to reports of an injured man at the Atlantic Recycling site on Newton Road in the city on Monday afternoon, July 8.

Police later confirmed a man had died of his injuries and his family had been informed. South Wales Police confirmed on Tuesday afternoon, July 9, that a joint investigation is now underway between them and the Health and Safety Executive to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. In a statement, Detective Sergeant Richard Hill, of South Wales Police, shared his condolences to the man's loved ones. He said: "We would like to offer our condolences to the family of the man who sadly lost his life. Our aim now, together with the Health and Safety Executive, is to carry out a robust investigation and establish the cause of this tragic incident."

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called at 12.44pm on Monday to the incident. It is understood emergency services were still on site at around 8pm later that day.
