La Grande Dame Rosé 2015 is a tribute to Madame Clicquot's pioneering spirit.

In 1818, she defied conventional practices by blending her red wine from her beloved ‘Clos Colin’ parcel with her white wine. Criticized at first, she is now acknowledged as the inventor of the first known blended rosé champagne.

Contains sulphites.

The quintessence of Madame Clicquot's innovative spirit

Before Madame Clicquot's pioneering innovation, the pink hue in other rosé Champagnes relied on a ‘rosé de teinte’, achieved by infusing white wine with elderberries and black grapes.

Sensitive to this pink color, this is how the idea of blending her red wine from Bouzy with her white wines arose.

The result was a revelation. This subtle blend marked the creation of the blended champagne rosé technique.

An exceptional intuition for vine potential

Madame Clicquot's exceptional intuition led her to recognize that the red wines from Clos Colin – one of the Maison’s oldest vineyards, acquired in 1741 – provided the ideal terroir for crafting her blended rosé champagnes.

The resilient vines, adapted to dry conditions, produce high-quality grapes with finely-tuned tannins. Clos Colin's exceptional terroir plays a crucial role in shaping the characterful, structured red wines that contribute to the body and finesse of La Grande Dame Rosé.

Preserving Freshness

For over two centuries, Veuve Clicquot’s Cellar Masters have handed down the art of aging Champagne Rosé—a tradition upheld today by Didier Mariotti. The Maison Veuve Clicquot’s Cellar Master serves as the guardian, ensuring the freshness and finesse of La Grande Dame Rosé 2015.

Matured for more than seven years, this wine holds the potential to develop and refine for well beyond a decade and a half.

For the first time, Veuve Clicquot has entrusted an Artist to design the La Grande Dame Rosé gift box. The new pink case joyfully joins the rest of the colorful La Grande Dame 2015 collection, continuing to bring Veuve Clicquot’s message of optimism to the world.

The ‘Master of Colors’ chose (amongst her palette of 97 tones) the ‘Pesca Chiaro’ color: a vibrant light pink expressing both the freshness and the depth of the cuvée.
