The department of Health sciences and technologies is one of the University of Bordeaux's 11 research departments. Using multidisciplinary and translational approaches, the department's research teams aim to meet the major societal challenges in the field of health.
The department, made up of 5 joint research units (UMR), 2 research support units (UAR), and a University-Hospital Institute (IHU), bringing together highly complementary and multi-scale cutting-edge expertise from molecules to patients. Using fundamental research aimed at increasing knowledge, the department associates innovative technological developments to make new therapeutic solutions available.
The department's scope also includes the Bordeaux Centre for Clinical Investigation (CIC 14.01), which is a secondary section. Its Innovative Technology module (IT) "Biomatérials" is strongly involved in health technologies.
As part of its scientific programmes, the Health sciences and technologies department maintains a unique research continuum on the cellular and molecular aspects of living organisms, that also encompasses clinical applications.
This cross-disciplinary approach is a strong advantage that helps with improving our knowledge of how living things work, confronting the associated technological challenges and addressing major human health issues.
