My husband and I love Casa Camper, but we had a negative experience on this trip at checkout. We are usual customers, always recommend it to our friends, and cannot speak more highly of this hotel. Top notch service, well thought out accommodations. Amazing breakfast, location, staff (99% of the time) and rooms. On this trip, we were blown away by the incredible kindness and thoughtfulness of the breakfast manager Daniel. His hospitality was superb. We had two of the suites for our group, which were lovely. We, however, had one very disappointing & daunting experience at the hotel on checkout, which was unusual and really rattled us. At breakfast, I was scolded and harassed by a front desk staff member, Enzo. By way of context, we added two additional rooms for another night, but accidentally omitted the breakfast on the booking. It was our checkout morning, and my husband sat down at the breakfast table and ordered coffee and Enzo called me up to the desk to me know that it would 75 Euros for the 3 of us to have breakfast added to our stay. I thought we had breakfast included, but appreciated it was not on the booking and advised him that we didn’t really need breakfast (just coffee) because we were leaving shortly, and he sternly advised me that it was too late, that we had to pay because my husband already sat down at a table. I explained that we didn’t even order food only ordered a coffee, and that our daughter hadn’t even come down yet to join us he said that didn’t matter because my husband already sat down. Then he explained we need to pay for our rooms if we are checking out now and he showed me the invoice and I advised him that we had prepaid for one of the rooms and it needed to be reflected in the invoice. He unequivocally asserted in a brute like manner that I was mistaken that nothing had been pre-paid. I had to find the email evidencing confirmation of payment showing him that we had in fact prepaid and he clearly was agitated that he was wrong. At this point I was in tears because his rigid brute rude behavior was just too much for me at that early hour before I had coffee, and a colleague of his whispered something in his ear and he said he would review everything and get back to me. At this point, I was so rattled and left. My husband later went to settle up and everything was fine and he indicated that Enzo had completely changed his demeanor and was as pleasant as could be. In view of Enzo’s drastic change of demeanor, my husband thought that Enzo was misogynistic, had a talking too, or suffers from severe cognitive rigidity. Not the best way to end our stay, but we won’t let it taint our adoration for this hotel.
