Decent hotel with a couple of issues

Staff was excellent, however there were a couple of issues:
1. Hotel is not in the best neighborhood, though you're likely safe given the police station around the corner and 2 police standing on the corner the whole day. That's likely why you needed a key to simply enter the lobby and use a key to use the elevator.
2. No fridge in the room (you can give your item to the front desk and they'll put it in their fridge). Grabbing fruit becomes an ordeal.
3. No coffee/tea in the room, through you can request a kettle from the front desk
4. Lobby was very hot (only late evening are ok)
5. Pool was a nice cool down with a decent view, but it's only 3 feet deep (0.9m)
6. Our room faced another tall residential building, so we had to keep the curtains closed for a bit of privacy.
7. Hotel charged us ~€40 extra "city tax" on top of our reservation at check-in (they should just be included)

It was ok.

Bed was comfortable, check in straightforward. The ac did not work despite calling maintenance. It was very hot. The soap dispenser wasn’t refilled it seemed which we didn’t notice until late because we were out all day. We stayed only one night. It was adequate but probably would not stay here again.

Good Central Hotel

Myself, husband and three friends stayed a night at either end of a week’s cruise from Barcelona. Situated 5 minutes from Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter, we really liked this hotel. Helpful staff. The rooms were spotlessly clean, beds comfortable and breakfast plentiful with good choices. The cartons of water on arrival in our room were very much appreciated. The roof top pool and seating area gave great views over the city. The hotel has a really good luggage storage area which we utilised as our flight was not until tea time and we checked out at 12. You can lock your case into a massive locker and know it will be safe while you are out and about. Within walking distance of the World Trade Centre Cruise Terminal and a short taxi journey to Cruise Terminals A&B. The hotel has a taxi rank outside which was extremely useful.

Stunning View of the City (during the day)

We enjoyed our stay at Andante very much. The view from the pool was AMAZING! It was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a nice variety of hot veggies, meat, eggs, and more. There were also fruits, yogurt, cereals, and pastries. Love the hot drink machine, too. The location is very walkable to Las Ramblas and the beach, etc. Several places to eat with a pharmacy and several little markets within a few steps. There was a taxi stop right in front and taxis are cheap! In our group of 8, four of us weren't able to walk as much as we wanted so the availability of taxis was very helpful! Here's why I knocked off a star. First, the elevator required the key card, which was inconvenient. The pool is a lap pool, which was fine for us but the bar and access to the pool and fabulous view was closed at 9:00. We would just be getting in from dinner and wanted to spend time in the evening with that view but nope- it was closed. There is some kind of hospital just a few steps away with lots of people milling about but we were never approached or had any problems with patients. There's a police station just around the corner. Don't miss a meal at Tapas Guell!

Room tip: Bring your own tea bags. There is a coffee machine in the vending area with free hot water all the time.

Excellent hotel

I really enjoyed our stay at Andante. The staff were very friendly and so glad they spoke English as my Spanish was limited. The rooms were a great size and very clean (and quiet - I didn't hear other guests at all). Loved the rooftop pool (the view!) and the pool bar was a great way for us to start off our holiday. The pool area wasn't ever that busy as could easily get so. The breakfast (included in our room rate) was a highlight with lots of hot and cold options. I am missing the mini chocolate croissants already!
The key card being made from wood, not plastic, was a nice touch, as was the other notes the hotel made to sustainability and supporting local business.
Felt secure with key card entry to the hotel, as well as a key needed for the lifts.
Only 5 mins from Las Ramblas and an easy 30 min walk to the beach at Barceloneta.
I would recommend this place to friends and I would stay again!

Room tip: Hotel rooms include hairdryer, the pool has towels you can use so don't need to take your own. A safe available in the room.
