We are Melia members & enjoy the experience Melia creates at each hotel. Our first experience with Melia was in 2014 in Girona (the hotel is now a CMC Best Western). The team there took exceptional care of our family to such the extent that my in-laws & brother in-law relocated to Girona.
We live in Hanoi Vietnam & frequently go to Melia’s BaVi property as well as Melia’s Sol on Phu Quoc island. Both have exceptionally friendly staff who cater specifically to our son (now 7 years old - he has grown up in Melia properties).
INNSiDE Melia Barcelona Apolo continues this positive trend for us. The location is ideal for travelers not wanting to be overwhelmed by tourist traffic but close enough to Gothic Quarter, El Born, Barceloneta, Exaimple, Mont Juic, the port/aquarium as well as Barcelona Sants (we arrived by train from Girona).
The check-in staff was very efficient, friendly, & informed. The room (634) was extremely comfortable, well designed, excellent views, ample closet space & living space; bathroom was spacious, with drawers for storage, good water pressure, ample towels (more available upon request); minibar was well stocked & complimentary; bed was large & extremely comfortable; local channels for Euro 2024 & San Fermin were without problems & international channels like BBC & CNN were accessible - we ordered room service & it was reasonable, delicious, & well-sized.
Breakfast buffet was varied & delicious. Carafes were available to reduce trips for water - Saturday’s omelette station was exceptional.
Even with all that, the hotel itself was a joy for us. It was very well designed with thought to a number of structural, comfort, & artistic details in the lobby, the halls, the breakfast area, the conference rooms, the room itself.
A fun place to stay.
That said, the people make our stay for us & at check-in, breakfast, check-out, even the cleaning staff were exceptionally friendly.
Marc, the relationship manager, took time to speak with us more than once & we appreciate that kind of contact.

I had a great stay at this hotel. I took the Areobus to the Plaza España then rode the tram and it spit me out right by the hotel. So really easy to get to access public transportation. The location of the hotel was ideal as all the key sights and areas are either a short walk or a few tram stops away. I found my hotel room to be very comfortable and I really liked the way the room was structured and organized. I slept very well and found the bed to be comfortable (I was sick a few nights, and that was a true test of comfort!). I also appreciated that the hotel let me check in a bit early, especially after a really early morning flight.

We arrived in the free shuttle from the airport very easily and our return to the airport via reserved shuttle the next morning worked flawlessly as well. . Our room was a bit stark but comfortable and very well insulated sound wise. The shower was the best we have encountered in a hotel. The reception was very good and English was automatic. The food and drink were a bit higher than expected cost wise. The only real flaw was the hot food on the expansive and elaborate breakfast buffet was stone cold because although it was in chafing dishes, there was no heat under the chafers so the scrambled and fried eggs were stone cold and the bacon and sausage were not hot enough to be served. Given that we were among the first to try the buffet at 7 AM, I can't imagine what later diners would encounter. I mentioned this flaw to the reception desk upon leaving and can only hope they rectified this problem.

Hotel reception was very welcoming and our first impression of the hotel was very good, modern and clean. The bedroom had great facilities, clean and well maintained. Food was very good, especially the excellent buffet breakfast. Ryan was particularly helpful to us finding and booking our restaurants and attractions during our stay. Would recommend and return to this hotel again.

I had a very simple query about this hotel when booking, so I sent an email but no response that day. So I rang the UK number which seems automated and did not understand my query. I rang the Spanish number and was told the Loft in this hotel does not have a separate living area, so I had to book the more expensive townhouse. Then I get an email today to my original query to contradict that saying the Loft does in fact have two rooms. Beware the customer service at this hotel appears to be non-existent. I had booked non refundable given the more expensive townhouse booking, so I just hope the hotel customer service is better when we arrive. Very disappointing.

It only saddens me that just yesterday I received your mail about this issue and answered you inmediately with several solutions that would mend the situation and apparently we still aren´t able to reach your expectations.

I can’t tell you more this is not a hotel to stay in The location is in a grimmy area The hotel has had a renovation, not sure what that means white paint and new sheets Check in was unfriendly and we were allocated a disabled room so we returned to the lobby to be told we are full and can only give you a twin room two floors further down with road noise (we shouldn’t have bothered asking) and at check in a mini bus of airline hostesses arrived to be allocated all the queen beds at special corporate rates woohoo! We paid more than €250 Let’s get back to the noise, this place is a tent I would rather stay at a hostel The noise from the road side, the hall way when every room enters and exits not just your neighbour the whole corridor The cleaners brought the trollley through at 6am but they were also there vacuuming at 5pm same day, so siesta must be 3/4 hours I’m guessing And you can hear everyone above beside and around you including their plumbing not to mention the party of 4 guests that got home at 4am and didn’t stop until close to 7am I called down to reception but of course they did f*** all The cleaning is far from adequate and I kept my shoes on as the floor is tacky The bathroom has marks and grime everywhere Just go elsewhere, Barcelona has got more expensive hotel wise but if you value sleep do your research from slim pickings
