Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped into the seaview restaurant in the Granvue hotel for lunch while cycling the Great Eastern Greenway from Carlingford. Nice outdoor seating area with a fabulous view on the Lough. Sanitising stations were very visible inside and the place was spotlessly clean. The staff/owner’s were very friendly and the food was delicious. Very reasonable prices and the Guinness was good too. Family run business, very prominently placed at the end of the greenway and a welcome sight for food/toilet break.

Steeped in history, the Strand Hotel is the perfect hotel for a weekend getaway. The majority of rooms face out onto the tranquil Carlingford Lough with breathtaking views of Warrenpoint and the Mournes. The hotel has live music and line dancing on a Saturday evening and karaoke on a Sunday afternoon so you are guaranteed to be entertained. Breakfast at the Strand sets you up for the day ahead and is a traditional Irish cooked breakfast. The Pastiche Strand would also be a prefect location for coach tours as it is just over the boarder and it has a large parking area to the rear of the hotel. Omeath itself is perfectly situated midway between Belfast and Dublin, at the foot of the Cooley mountains and is an excellent location for gateway tourism with ease of access to the two major cities and hundreds of attractions on the Island of Ireland. Be sure to sample some of the local delicacies such as Carlingford Lough Willicks and Oysters!

We stayed in this hotel for one night recently. We were welcomed by Moira and Willie who took time to chat to us and made sure we had everything we needed. Our room was clean and comfortable and had beautiful sea views. The location of this hotel is perfect for walkers, hikers or anyone wishing to tour the Carlingford and Mourne areas.
There was excellent live music and line dancing in the lounge on Saturday night and best of all were the clientele who were so full of fun. We had a lovely cooked breakfast on Sun. am at a time of our choosing. This hotel offers remarkable value for money and is charming and most relaxing.

We booked this hotel for an overnight stay, the hotel is quirky with lots of old pictures etc which was great, the rooms where clean and the beds comfortable, we were met by a very nice lady who showed us around, the bar area in the evening was great a nice crowd and good music but best of all was the full irish the next morning (cooked by the lady) it was great, sausage, bacon ,eggs, black and white pud toast, no better way to soak up all the beer. We had a great time and will return.

Stayed here for two nights and what a find. Thank you to Willie & Moira for your hospitality. All of us (6) have nothing but praise for you. Clean and comfortable, with a full Irish cooked to perfection. Nothing was too much trouble. The perfect hosts. For anyone in the Carlingford area this is the place to stay. We will definitely stay there again. The Strand comes with my highest recommendation not something I have done before.

Myself my wife and another couple spent the weekend here . I reckon it must be the best value bed and breakfast hotel in the country. The breakfast is second to none bacon egg sausages mushrooms black& white pudding tomatoes soda and potato bread mountains of toast brown bread tea coffee and cereal all served by the very friendly staff . Rooms are spotless have all you need tea&coffee hair dryer iron etc. Beautiful views over carlingford lough. There's music in the bar at the weekend and a fantastic collection of books if you fancy a read. There's lots to do around beautiful walks etc . We definitely will be back it's like home from home. Padraig and Willie Pearse visited in 1905 so if it is good enough for them it'll suit me.

We stayed here for long weekend in June . It was a lovely family run business and willie was outstanding. The views are breath taking . Breakfast was fabulous . All down stairs rooms are wheelchair friendly and so is the outside terrain to access the hotel.
This is not a modern hotel but is a lovely family run hotel , the setting on the water having breakfast and the location , it's well worth a visit .
