Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The location is very good (near la rambla), the old features all through out the hotel really adds character, the staff was very amiable and helpful. I also liked the pool.

There are no safes in the rooms and the rooms are not sound-proof at all. I was kept awake at night by my Neighbours who were partying and woken up in the morning by the cleaners. Don’t forget your earplugs!

We stayed here for 5 nights (13-18th Nov) and had a good experience.

When we arrived at 12pm, the staff allowed us to go straight to the room which was nice as we expected that it would be unavailable at that time.

The room was clean, and we had a nice view overlooking the pool and patio. Our room had two single beds pushed together with no fixtures to hold them together. However, the beds and pillows we thought were comfortable.

The breakfast had a good selection of food; fruit, juices, pastries, bread, meats, cheese, yoghurts, and a small variety of hot food.

The staff were very helpful, Joel particularly offered good advice on where to eat on our last night and was friendly.

The location for us was perfect, 4 minute walk to the nearest metro, walking distance to the hundreds of food options on La Rambla and 5 minute walk from the Boqueria market.

A few negatives - There was not a safe in the room, I would have preferred one. There was no air conditioning, or it wasn’t working in our room meaning we had to leave the window open at night. Also, we just happened to be the room next door to a nightclub which was loud at night, but not the hotel’s fault! We expected noise as this hotel is so central.

Beautiful communal areas. We had no major concerns, we would return !

The location of this hotel is ideal. Very close to the famous La Ramblas and also close to the seafront. It’s also very modern and clean. The breakfast has a good selection of hot and cold items from cereals, cold meats, cheeses, croissants, pastries, fruits, hot bacon, scrambled egg, frittata. All different fruit choices as well as coffees and teas. Staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
Booked a double, got 2 singles pushed together. Was told that doubles are subject to availabilty. The air con was terrible, when I complained was just told I was not using it properly. The TV is not connected to the internet so couldn't use any apps or cast stuff from our phones, when I first reported it I was told they are aware of a problem but are waiting for a fix, the following day I enquired again and was told they are not smart TV's. Not sure why they have a data cable plugged into them then? the hotel doesn't provide any facilities such as coffee, food of any description. The pool is not a swimming pool, at best it's a plunge pool.
I would not stay at the Onix Liceo if I was offered money to stay.
The coffee machine broke down so they replaced it with a microwave so you could heat water and make mircowaved tea/coffee.

An absolute joke.

I made a reservation from the 15th to 20th January. We arrived at the check-in at the reception and talked to a guy, I asked for breakfast time and he told me that the breakfast service was inactive since August but on the website it said that breakfast was until 11am. I show him the description on the website and he told me that he didn't know about it and it was a mistake. He wasn't kind at all. I wrote a complain to the hotel email where I explained the situation but I received no reply. The only positive thing was a girl who was at the reception the day after, Rosa. She understood the situation, she was sorry and she apologized for what happened but nothing changed at all, I paid the full price and didn't get any kind of upgrade and after my complain they canceled "breakfast until 11am" from the website but I have a screenshot.

The hotel is lovely, well clean, and the rooms themselves are great. The staff is phenomenal: everyone is super helpful and friendly, definitely the biggest highlight in my opinion.
Location wise, it's right next to Palau Guell and La Rambla, so it's right in the center of the city and close to everything you need.
However, the sound isolation in the hotel is very poor, and you can hear everything the other guests are doing at any point. So if you are a light sleeper or easily bothered by noise, this might be an issue.
Everything else is great, the price/quality ratio is very good overall. Recommended, but keep the sound thing in mind.

The hotel is situated in a run down area of Barcelona with boarded up houses, graffiti on the walls and people sleeping rough in doorways. The hotel was extremely basic and unattractive. The rooms were poorly furnished with small thin towels and a sliver of soap. This would only compare with the cheapest hostel with no redeeming features. A very mean hotel with no redeeming qualities.

Response from Montserrat Saiz Lebrun, Marketing at Onix Liceo Hotel
Responded 22 Sept 2023
We're sorry to hear about your negative experience. However, we disagree regarding our beloved Raval neighborhood. We understand it may not be the most attractive neighborhood in the city, but we don't believe it is as you describe it. Our hotel is situated in front of the historic Palau Güell, a magnificent example of domestic architecture within the context of modernism. Nevertheless, we apologize that it did not meet your expectations, and your suggestions will be taken into account to improve our guests' experience."

My flight was cancelled and the carrier did not announce the reason. I wanted to change my booking and push it up a day. I was told that they will follow cancelation policy, which I would've been fine with if I was cancelling, however I still wanted to stay, just a day later or even if I had to pay a bit extra, but not double. I was even gong to extend my stay with few days. Extremely disappointing as the flight cancelation was not my fault. Definitely wouldn't be staying there, and I wouldn't recommend if there is a slight change of something happening with your flight...

Stayed here for a week. Excellent accommodation with a very small price tag. Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and the hotel was very quiet in a good way. Location was great, only minus was that the pool was so cold you couldn´t swin in there. Overall even better than we expected and would stay again!

My best friend and I stayed at the hotel for 4 nights.
Hotel is in the center of Barcelona. You have the Metro and the Bus and Taxis right there but you can walk pretty much everywhere.
Hotel is very clean and comfy.
BUT, my suggestions is for the receptionists, they could smile more. Only Marc was always nice and professional and giving a good welcoming vibe.
I would definitely go back there.

Yes it's true, we had one and did feel slightly costrauphobic but it was only for sleeping in. Check with reception and request a move if you are unfortunate enough to get one.
