Bad- Pool is tiny and sun is only on it in the morning / early afternoon not on rooftop Hairdryer couldn’t be more than medium heat as it would cut out AC is very confusing Balcony is just a walking one, expected something we could sit on and have a drink at bit yoy can’t fit a chair on it. We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Staff were friendly and allowed us to check in at 11am which was a bonus. Staff also spoke English which was nice. We stayed in room 403 which looked out onto the road. We payed extra to stay in a room ‘with a view’ not realising that would only mean you could view the main road outside. We had a small balcony that wasn’t big enough to sit on so we didn’t use it at all. The room are an average size. The shower and toilet are two separate rooms with a sink outside in the main part of the room. In the room we had towels (which could be changed everyday if you wanted too), a safe, hair dryer, hair shampoo and body wash and a mini fridge.
There are black out blinds which were so good when I got up on the 1st day I thought it was about 2am but it was 8:30am! The beds were really comfy. I personally couldn’t hear any road traffic or any noise in the hotel at all however my sister said she could hear a backbeat of some music at some points. A housekeeper cleaned the shower and sink each day, replaced towels if required and made the beds. Check out was 12. It’s perfectly central to walk everywhere. It had a little gym which we didn’t use.
Some negatives we noted were that the AC wasn’t great. It’s a very confusing system which we did manage to get working but it took 4 hours to properly cool the room and it would turn off every hour or so. The TV only has bbc news which was in English which was a shame. Also the hair dryer could not be used more than cold as it would turn off as i presume it would get too hot. We also didn’t get to use the pool because it only had sun in the morning and by the evening the sun had rotated around.It’s also overlooked by houses opposite as it wasn’t on the roof and it was only level 1 which put us off. Breakfast was okay. It cost €12 each. Most of the hot food was cold and the food wasn’t being replaced even though it wasn’t busy so we didn’t each much and didn’t go back again.
It’s a lovely, clean hotel and is in the middle of everything which is nice.

Stay here for 4 nights, great location with easy quick access to the metro and buses which get you central within 10 minutes, but also a lot of small cute restaurants around the hotel as well. Just like many hotels within the city, the pool area is small but still great to have a sunbath when sun loungers are free. The beach is not far to get to either via metro & bus. Very friendly and kind staff, rooms are very clean, open and modern. Be careful of the extra charge to consume the drinks in the mini-fridge in the room, breakfast was 15 euros each but very good. I would definitely return here when traveling to Barcelona, no faults.

We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. We had a warm and friendly welcome, the room was clean, had proper furniture and had good airconditioning.
The location of the hotel is great. We did most of our travel by subway, and the hotel was right in the middle of all the sights we wanted to see.
Furthermore, we had good breakfast options and we were able to park our car right around the corner in a garage.
If you feel like having a swim, mind you that the pool is quite small. Also, the bathroom and shower have matte glass doors without a lock, so keep that in mind too.

Overall the hotel was good for the price. It was small but got everything you need. I like the modern style. Location-wise it was not the best, by that I mean not in walking distance of the major attractions. But it was very easy to get a taxi and most of the attractions were about 10-15 min by taxi.

Spotlessly clean,modern facilities, really comfy beds, little extras like repair kit etc. Good air con, plrnty of storage and a mini bar. Shower and shampoo smelled lovely. rooftop pool and terrace relaxing and well maintained. Guests receive a 241 ticket for all food and drink which was great value. i asked for a firm pillow as I can't sleep on feather and they provided me with an orthopedic one which was very comfy. Great Central location and easy to get around the city. The breakfast was very good. Points to note: Positives- Wide continental selection including nuts, seeds, fresh fruit, cheese and meats, sweet pastries, cookies and a gluten free range. Selection of freshly squeezed juices and freshly ground coffee.
Negatives: Toaster doesn't toast, just makes slightly warm- the staff member said it was done and nearly burning but wasn't even slightly brown, I think that's how they do it in Spain so nit something us Brits are used to! Bacon not the same/as good as British bacon, a bit thin and chewy, and sausages were more like cured or tinned hot dogs which again is very different to what we eat.
Room-wise, no view in at least the lower rooms so was quite dark and no perception of what the weather was like outside. No kettle in the rooms
Other than that, great service and very friendly people, would stay again.

As a rewards member they upgraded my room booking to a jr. suite, and they provide a welcome gift in the room (fresh fruit and a bottle of cava!) and you get a free glass of cava on arrival.
Location is great - easy access to everything and this was one of the closer Catalonia's to Sants station while still being accessible to the heart of Barcelona.

I stayed at 2 different hotels in Barcelona because I traveled to San Sebastian for a few days in the middle of the trip. And I definitely wished I had just rebooked Hotel Catalonia Gran Via when I returned to the city. It's a cute hotel, very conveniently located, and great restaurants close by. I used Aerobus to get from the airport to the hotel, and the bus stop was just 2 blocks (2 minute walk) to the hotel. I was amazed at how smoothly it went as my flight had been delayed and I didn't arrive till close to midnight. Staff was friendly and nice, the room clean, and although the hotel is located on a major street, it wasn't noisy at all and felt very safe. If or when I return to Barcelona, I would stay here again.

7 of us (over 4 rooms) stayed for 3 nights at the Catalonia Gran Via BCN at the end of November 2023.
The hotel is located near the Urgell metro (L1) - would recommend a travel pass for the length of your stay, works on all public transport - and walking distance to Place de Catalunya. It is surrounded by bars and restaurants.
The rooms are a bit on the compact and bijou side but fitted out to a high standard. Plenty of storage space and hangers, separate toilet and shower, tea and coffee making facilities, plenty of free toiletries. Also a safe provided with plenty of mirrors and good lighting. Twin beds provided (as asked for) and seemed very comfortable. Not much of a view, but the hotel can't help that. Spotlessly clean, with rooms cleaned every day.
Hotel lifts were always available and again, spotlessly clean (useful as there are 8 levels to the hotel).
Good breakfast (14 euros), available till 11.00, plenty of choice with fruit, English & Continental choices. Didn't dine there (a lot of competition with numerous bars and restaurants locally) nor drink there (the bar seemed very limited, never saw anyone drinking there).
Staff very amenable, all spoke English.
All round an enjoyable experience. Visited most of the sites, would recommend Sagrada Familia and Hospital Sant Pau, took in an Espanyol game (Barcelona playing away). Metro very efficient (but crammed, day and night!).
Quality place, would go again, reasonably priced.

We booked to stay at the Gran Via BCN and upon arrival we were told that they had no rooms available with a double bed and that we would have to have a room with two single beds.
We waited two hours until the room was ready to make a decision on whether we would like to stay in this room. After waiting two hours we were then told that they would be sending us to another hotel as they had no rooms available.
Angel the manager was very rude and abrupt and sent us to another hotel which was unsatisfactory.
After complaining and returning to the Gran Via BCN, we were advised that our first night would be refunded.
After numerous complaints, they are refusing to do so. Worst service I have EVER endured and would recommend to avoid at all costs!

Dear Anthony Clarke, We are very sad that you feel that you have had a terrible experience with us but in no case was that our intention and as I have already explained to you on internal occasions I think there was a communication failure between us since upon arrival I explained to you that we did not have double beds and that we only had rooms with two beds and I proposed to go to another hotel and you accepted, as in the other hotel they did not have a room available yet you decided to take advantage of the time to go to the gym of our hotel and later asked us for a room with two beds but as before he confirmed that he preferred a double bed in the other hotel we no longer had that room. The next day they returned to our hotel for the rest of the stay in a room of a better category than the one contracted and at no time was anything confirmed about a refund of the first night. I think that at all times I treated them with respect, something that your sister did not do, that on the two occasions that she came to the hotel she entered the hotel shouting at the hotel staff and in bad manners. As hye told you at the beginning, we are sorry that you have had a bad impression of our hotel but as our comment history shows we always try to provide the best possible service.
