Fab little boutique hotel close to some amazing bakery and eateries! 25 mins to central Barcelona, gorgeous big rooms that seem like they have been renovated to a lovely standard!
Martha was amazing on reception, great customer service after we had a few queries and nothing was too much trouble! Would come back very soon. Thanks so much xoxo

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel and if I had known I would have stayed here more than one night. We had originally booked for another hotel (Parc Del Valles-read review) but we arrived in Barcelona one day early and had to find a place to stay. It was expensive (95 euros per night) but to be honest it was worth it. It is in a beautiful area of Barcelona. The staff are very friendly. They really do have a computer with internet access (I have learned that a lot of places lie about computer access). They have a beautiful lounge on the mezzanine with great music playing softly in the background. Refreshments (yogurt, fruit and beverages) are provided as well as breakfast in the morning. I would probably classify this as a boutique hotel. The room is decorated in a simple, contemporary style. The bathroom is spacious, airy, with all the amenities you would ever need. I cannot emphasize how great this place is...you will not regret it.

This is truly a little gem in Barcelona. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are immaculate, breakfasts are generous, and the overall feeling is warm and welcoming.
My friend and I shared a room that was in fact a junior suite - there was a sitting area with a comfy sofa and coffee table, a desk and chair (guests can borrow a laptop from Reception), and more than enough closet space. The marble walls and floor of the bathroom were nice and cool, and the biggest treat was a bathtub (as well as a shower) - unusual in European hotels.
There is a bus stop across the road from the hotel, with two buses that go to Placa Catalunya, and a Metro station just a few steps past the bus stop. There's a grocery store no more than a four minute walk away, open until 2100, good for snacks as well as real food. The rooms are quiet, even though Carrer Muntaner is a main road - and there are three layers of curtain, so you can have as much or as little light as you wish.
We were very happy with our stay, and wouldn't hesitate in the least to stay at the lovely little Hotel Rekord in the future.

We have just returned from spending two weeks in Spain and have to comment on Hotel Rekord. We loved this place. It was without doubt, the best place we stayed. I was concerned about the location because I thought that it was too far from the city centre. Hotel Rekord is 3 metro stops from the Ramblas. The metro stop is a stones throw (not kidding here) from the hotel. It took less that 10 minutes to get from the city centre to the hotel.

The rooms are very nice. We stayed in rooms 201 and 402. Both were great. Room 402 was at the back of the hotel so it was quieter but the hotel is in such a quiet neighbourhood that even though 201 was streetside it was still relatively quiet. Room 402 was a suite. It had a sitting room with a desk and a separate bedroom. Room 201 is one big room. We loved both rooms.

Both rooms are well equiped. They both have a kettle with the makings for coffee and tea. There was a plate of freshly cut fruit in the room on the day that we arrived. The rooms have at least one tv (the suite had one in the sitting room and one in the bedroom), a cd player, several phones, comfy bathrobes and slippers. The bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, soap, hair dryer etc. something that I took forgranted until we stayed at many other places that cost more and had none of these things.

Breakfast was yummy. Lots of pastries, fresh fruit, cheese, eggs, bacon, sausages, cereal etc.

The staff were also fabulous. We asked to borrow one of the laptops and it was brought to our room. When we couldn't get it to work, Susanna came up to help and ended up letting us using it in another room as our connection wasn't working.

I highly recommend this hotel. The location is great, very quiet at night. Lots of beautiful shops nearby and close to transit.

Location is great, just meters from Muntaner station. First impressuon was great. Girl on the reception very polite and helpfull. My room was fine, altough some fine cleaning would be neccesary. My colleagues were not that luck. One of them got a bedroom without a window! Despite complaining there was no effort from staff to resolve that. Breakfast is ok, nothing more than that. On our checkout something weird happened, a receptionist (dark hair guy) called a taxi for us. When arrived, taxi driver went to receptionist and handed him over 10€ bill. After bringing us to airport, taxi driver overcharged us for 10€ (taxi meter showing 27,50 with extras but he was asking 38 claiming other 'extras'). Stay away from these crooks.

I stayed here over the Easter weekend 2017 from Wednesday 12 April 2017 until Monday 17th. Check in was immediate, friendly and efficient. All my encounters with hotel staff during my stay were positive and any questions I had were answered quickly and politely.

My room was 105, on the ground floor. It was very spacious and comfortable. It was more like a junior suite than a room as I had a separate living area with sofa, desk, additional seating, minibar, tv and a fridge. The furniture and decor was of a high standard. The bed was large, bigger than a standard double with another tv and the bathroom spacious with a bath and high powered shower over the bath. There were ample amenities in the bathroom. There was a free to use safe in the room which I made use of.

The only negatives were that the tv didn't have any English language problems. However, this was not a problem for me as the high quality free wifi enabled me to watch English language programs on my iPhone. The only other issue I had was that the air conditioning didn't seem to cool the room but as it was only hot one of the days this wasn't too bad. In July/August it may be a problem.

I got a very good deal through Hotels.com paying on average around £70GBP/$80 USD per night on a room only basis. The hotel is in a pleasant residential area just around the corner from Muntaner Station. It's not as central to Plaza Catalunya as I am used to but the trains are frequent and easy to use. I bought a 5 day Hola Barcelona ticket for around 30 Euros giving me unlimited travel on trains, underground, buses and trams. It was a bargain and even covers transport to and from the airport.

My flight home to Manchester UK wasn't until 2125 but the hotel very graciously and free of charge let me put my bags with them and when I arrived to pick them up I needed to charge my phone. The lady at reception took me upstairs, opened the restaurant floor just for me and gave me coffee and water whilst my phone was charging. Excellent customer service! I really look forward to staying there again.

I want to mention a couple of tips to travellers to Barcelona that are nothing to do with the hotel but may be of use. Firstly, security. There is lots of information on the Internet about petty crime in Barcelona. READ IT!! I had no problems this time but in the past have had several pickpockets attempt to steal from me. Thankfully unsuccessfully. Common sense stuff, like don't take out more money than you need. Use the in room safe. Don't take all your debit/credit cards out with you and take care in crowded places with your bags, phones etc..

Another tip is please don't let the taxi drivers at the airport scam you. I took a cab from terminal 2B taxi rank to the Rekord. When we arrived the meter read 24 Euros plus an airport surcharge (perfectly valid surcharge) of just over 3 Euros, so around 27 in all. I gave the driver 30 euros in cash and said keep the change. He then stated that the minimum fare from the airport to Barcelona city is 35 Euros. "Where in the cab does it say that" I asked. He shrugged his shoulders and said "that's what it is". "Why did you not mention this to me at the airport" I asked. Again, just a shrug of the shoulders. I also asked why put the meter on anyway if that's the case. Another shrug. I felt I was being scammed here. I said"listen 30 Euros is what you are getting and I can verify this with the hotel reception if you insist". He of course accepted. Since the journey I checked online and there is indeed a minimum charge for taxis from the airport but it is not 35 Euros, it is 20 Euros including any supplements. If you are staying in a hotel near the airport it may be better to investigate other means of transport to your hotel. Also it's worthwhile asking for a receipt from the driver as this will confirm the price (subject to minimum fares for which you should do your research online) and help identify you if you lose some of your property in the taxi.

Final tip. Spain is wonderful with lovely people and some great food. HOWEVER, service is not what you may expect depending on where you are from. Several times, during a 5 day trip, I had problems with orders being wrong in restaurants, like a starter not arriving and after asking "wheres my starter", it arrives after I have finished the main course. Fast food places also rated very low for me. I ordered a McD takeaway that should have had 15 chicken nuggets but only had nine. Thankfully I checked before leaving the joint and they gave me, finally what I had ordered and paid for. Not a word of apology though. The server and his manager gave that look of "did you just eat six nuggets and claim not top have received them. The other was a delivery to my room by Nomo sushi. I ordered the large sushi, 26 pieces (yes I'm greedy). When I opened the bag I found only 10 nigiri. I phoned them and they very quickly arrived with my missing maki and they were very gracious and apologised.

Those of you heading out to Barcelona please do your research, stay safe and have a great time in this very beautiful city.

My wife and I arrived at 1200 following our flght from Dulles via Paris on Air France and we couldn't have been more pleased with the reception, accomodation and service. Our top floor room, the rear loft, very quiet, was uniquely decorated, quite large with a skylight, king size comfortable bed, comfy robes, desk, sofa, TV, stereo and exercise bike (didn't use with all the walking we did!). The single rose flower in the bath was a nice touch!
Their breafast was fresh, abundant and well maintained. The staff was very helpful, from referring local restaurants (the italian one across the street is very good & mid-priced), to providing a laptop free in my room so I could deal with an urgent business problem.
Its location is very convenient. We walked to the Sagrada Familia from the hotel (nice & easy), and walked back from Park Guell (it's mostly downhill). We used the Mutaneer metro station at the hotel corner to go "downtown" & back.
The ranking on this hotel simply means it hasn't been discovered yet. That's fine for all the folks like us who like staying at "boutique" hotels with reasonable prices that delivers outstanding value and vacation enjoyment.
We highly recommend it!

Myself and my family (4 of us) spent 5 nights here this summer. It's on the same street as an underground train station so you can get around the city easily. The hotel itself is quite small but it is one of the best I have stayed in - in terms of Europe. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the food is brilliant - there is a good variety at breakfast and the offer of biscuits and hot drinks in the early evening is great especially after a tiring day of sightseeing. The room we stayed in was spacious enough for a family and the general cleanliness was top class. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to see the very best of Barcelona yet want to have the comfort of a nice room to relax in after a long day out. Awesome - don't think twice about booking!

Stayed 2 nights this January. Hotel combines comfort and efficiency with charm and friendliness.

All the staff, whether at reception or serving at breakfast, were extremely welcoming and helpful at all times. The room was huge and very well appointed - great bed, big modern bathroom, everything immaculately clean, including new white bathrobes and slippers laid out on the beds. It was also unusual in having a proper desk with sitting room area with sofas and chairs, so the room felt more like a small flat with office facilities. Also unusual for Europe were the coffee/tea-making facilities in each room.

Breakfast was a vast buffet - enough to challenge the biggest appetites. You can also use the lounge area during the day and help yourself to tea, coffee and cakes up to 9 at night. On our first night, staff brought a plate of fresh sliced tropical fruit to the room.
Good area too - Muntaner is a lively upmarket street, well connected to all parts of the city but away from the touristy bustle of the Ramblas area. Check out the Galvany covered market over the road if you get a chance. Generally first rate.
