The Thalassi Hotel's value proposition has been met with some disapproval from guests, who specifically find the half board dining not to be up to the mark. While the hotel is commended for its cleanliness and spacious lodgings, with a nod to the satisfactory breakfast, opinions diverge when it comes to the evening meal offerings. The rooms, celebrated for their comfort and delightful balconies, are somewhat marred by their proximity to noise. Despite this, the staff garners appreciation for their attentive service, contributing positively to the hotel's overall clean and welcoming atmosphere.

We stayed here for 11 nights and was one of the best all inclusives we have been on.
When we got there at 0130 we were met by the night porter Manuel who greeted us and took us up to our room. There was a Greek salad and some bread in the fridge which was a really nice touch.
Breakfast was standard limited selection but what u would expect from a small hotel.
Again the drinks where limited on the all inclusive but wie found tipple that we enjoyed and Stephi who was on every day was lovely and we had a really good laugh with her and other holiday makers there.
Here's the best part of the experience the restaurant, all I can say is amazing. Lunch was a selection from the restaurant menu and nothing was a problem and dinner was buffet style which was OK had a limited selection but again for us it was good and we didn't go hungry. What made this for us though is the restaurant is about 10 minute walk away and at the times for dinner\lunch they provided a bus from the Nek.
Dmitri runs the restaurant and is extremely passionate about the restaurant and the food they make especially the Greek food. It is a good idea to listen to his recommendations as he will let you know what is best that day.
Room was nice and we were on the road on the second floor but no disturbance from the road. You have pay for the safe in your room and the air con can't remember the exact amounts but it cost us about 70 euro for both which we thought was definitely worth.
Our room was cleaned daily and we got towels if we needed them but I know some people their rooms we're cleaned every other day.
Overall an amazing holiday and will definitely look to go back Eva at the hotel and Dmitri at the restaurant we're lovely all the staff were friendly and polite from the cleaners to the front facing staff will definitely be booking again thank you Thalassi

Just got back from a amazing holiday, was going to Thailand but cancelled, how lucky we where to pick this hotel for our 2 week stay. From the start to finish fantastic food, staff so friendly and you are treated like old friends. Rooms are very clean and service is very professional done with Covid in mind, you have breakfast at the hotel, eggs bacon and beans plus the normal cold stuff then lunch and dinner down at the hotel’s restaurant right on the seafront, it is a 5 min walk but well worth the walk. And what amazing food the lunches are, basically 3 full courses table service which are fantastic and the evening meal is buffet but served by the staff. All the evening meals had so much choice you came out full as you wanted to try everything, and not forgetting a lot of the product is grown on the hotels own farm. Have already booked to go back, can’t wait.

This was a last minute holiday due to Covid and not being able to go to our holiday home in Spain . Even though I travel all round the world with my job this was my first time to Greece . I read the reviews before I went and was impressed with what others had said especially about the food . I was totally blown away with how this lovely family run hotel lived up to its expectations , we had a twin room and the other couple we went with upgraded to a superior room , I have to say the superior room was nicer and I did almost want to upgrade but in our twin room we had sea view and watched sunset every night it was beautiful.
The rooms were very clean and even though we were told on arrival that due to Covid rooms would only be cleaned once a week we could get clean towels and sheets if we wanted . Our stay was 11 nights and our room was cleaned twice we were more than happy for this . Our room was big and had a nice balcony .
Breakfast was served at the hotel ams was lovely all very fresh .
Lunch and dinner was served at the restaurant which was about 8 min walk , we liked the walk but you could get the hotel shuttle . The setting of the restaurant is absolutely breath taking over looking the sea one of the best settings I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a few . The food is out of this world all fresh , Dimitrios is so very passionate about his food explains a lot of what your going to eat . He has the best sense of humour ( I miss him a lot ) . Anthony , Maria , Micheal , Kyle work in the restaurant and bar and they are all awesome 👏 funny and make you feel like you really are on holiday and being spoilt I miss these guys too 😘
The beach is a little stoney but he water is warm we spent most days at the beach but 1 tip would be to take beach / sea shoes .
I definitely recommend this well run hotel , Eva is helpful and understanding of all individuals . The rest of the crew are just beautiful people too . I miss the hotel the food and most of all dimitrios 😂 . I will definitely return to this well run hotel and it’s a 5 out of 5 from me and my hubby and the other couple we were with .xxxxxx

I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and restaurant - the place, atmosphere and the staff are absolutely wonderful. Dimitris, Eva and their teams give both the hotel and the restaurant a lovely, welcoming feel and nothing is too much trouble.

Upon our arrival (which was late) we were greeted by Eva. There was a sandwich and a bottle of water waiting for us in our room which was a nice touch as we had had a long trip. The room was lovely with fantastic views of the pool and the sea. Breakfast is served at the hotel with everything set out in accordance with the latest Covid safety standards.
The pool area is a lovely place to relax and drinks are served by Eva and her team from the pool bar.

Lunch and dinner are served at the restaurant which is overlooking the sea and is absolutely idyllic. As soon as you step into the restaurant you are greeted by Dimitris who shows you to a table and explains the dishes that are being served. The passion he has for the food that is served is really clear through his mouthwatering descriptions and the food matches these easily. Despite adhering to all the Covid regulations, Dimitris has tried really hard to ensure that his guests get a feel of the Greek culture and his entertainment night was excellent.

I want to say a massive thankyou to Dimitris, Eva and Anthony for making us feel so welcome, to Mark for being so helpful on our first wander around - with advice about the sea and the drinks, to Michalis for superb service and making us laugh. I would also like to thank Maria, Seamatis, both chefs and everyone else that I haven’t mentioned, for the best holiday that I have ever had.

Brilliant, the hotel and restaurant is well prepared for these times of covid and felt safer here than at home, the rooms are very clean as is the rest of the hotel and restaurant, the food is freshly made with produce from the owners garden and farm.
Eva and Dimitris and the rest of the staff /family made us feel so welcome, I would say this is the most relaxing holiday I have been on and will definitely be coming back.
Dimitris and Anthony took us on a local tour of the area which he is so passionate about and rightly too, although he called me the naughty boy we had a absolutely fantastic holiday. Many thanks, Jim, Jo and thomas, Jackie. We will return.
Brilliant staff Anthony, Maria
Michalis and Seamatis

We have just returned from a 12-night stay at the Thalassi Hotel, and it was everything we had hoped for and more. We love visiting Greece, and this hotel was the best one we have stayed in. The family atmosphere is there from the moment you arrive.

The hotel and rooms are clean, spacious, and very well maintained. The pool area was never too busy, there were always loungers and chairs available at all times during the day.

Eva, Dimitris, and the team really made the holiday for us. We have so many fantastic memories. We loved seeing how the ladies cleaning our room had arranged my son's teddy bears in different ways for his return. The restaurant, a short walk away, has some fantastic views of the sea and sunset. This is where you will find Dimitris and his colleagues who always gave us a warm welcome. Dimitris is a lovely man who is so passionate about his food, much of which is grown on the family farm. Nothing was too much trouble. During one night, early in our stay, Dimitris was telling us about a meat dish on offer and my wife happened to mention that she was disappointed that she couldn't try it as she doesn't eat meat. She was more than happy to eat the vegetarian dish on offer, but Dimitris was having none of that and for most evenings following he asked the chef to prepare a separate main course for her. It isn't something we asked for or expected but it shows how important it was to Dimitris and his team that we enjoyed our stay. Our 8-year-old son struck up a very strong friendship with Dimitris who would take him around the buffet to explain the dishes on offer each night after we arrived.

We all thank Eva, Dimitris, and their team for making our holiday so special after what has been a very difficult 18 months for us as I'm sure it has been for others too. We thoroughly recommend the Thalassi Hotel to others.

Stayed at this small hotel in 2019.It was tired decor and the air conditioning did not work. This was rectified but a sign of how dilapidated and how much in need of investment. Truly the strangest atmosphere to a hotel I have ever stayed in. You were either treated warmly (especially if you were a returning all inclusive who stayed round the hotel by the pool all day spending money) or if half board like my family who liked to be out and about and return for our evening meal treated with suspicion. I concur with another 1 star review that the surcharges just kept mounting up. First time I have been asked to pay additional taxes "as just imposed by Greek government" As I say strange atmosphere. There was a chap who sat by the pool bar every morning throughout breakfast closely observing guests coming and going. Business partner? Official tax inspector? added to the feelings of uneasiness. Breakfast was plentiful in choice if mediocre but enough to set you up for the day. Evening meals taken at taverna across road was a 5 star setting and food was quite good most nights. But Dimitri, Dimitri! My take is he and his wife feel they have standing in their local community. But both have lost the ethos that ALL guests should be treated with utmost courtesy at ALL times. On our second night he engaged in conversation with us at the bar after our meal, but when I asked a question within the context of the conversation, he bullied me for "interrupting" him. Like a classic boor he was king of his castle and I was expected to be attentive to him and listen to his monologue.
For the sake of my one week's holiday I decided to win him over rather than clash swords (I am female, a psychologist and recognise I'm not going to change a boorish chauvinist) So for my own self interest I played him, praising the food and his wonderful restaurant, which is a lovely setting and as we love Greek food that was genuine. Not every meal was good, but for the price excellent value. He loved the compliments and my charm offensive worked, being the egotist he is. But it shouldn't be hard work on holiday should it?! It was my holiday to be able to unwind and relax. So for that reason I would suggest there are nicer hotels in the area where you will be treated more hospitably, not just because you're a returning boozy all includer who smokes round the pool all day and who laughs when Dimitri tries to humiliate a guest for his own amusement. Somewhere other, where you are treated as one of the owners valued guests.

Hello 1chickwonder! The fact that you expressed your opinion after a whole year has passed shows how prejudice you are to some people who have chosen be authentic and speak honestly and equally no matter who you are. Cretans are know for their hospitality and their family spirit not for what you are describing above. If you are rude and disrespectful to people that is the way people are going to treat you. It is absurd to imply that the hotel wanted money from you saying that it is for the government. You have the whole world wide web (Internet) to search about the Greek Government overnight stay tax which has been in place since 1st January 2018. In defence of the Greek Government this tax is also known to exist in many many other countries not only in Greece. As a hotel we encourage our guests to explore our beautiful island while they are relaxing, so no we are not suspicious about how our guests prefer to spend their holidays. Our hotel is small and the staff probably know everyone by their first name so If they see someone not from the hotel they can deny access to him. I don't think it is serious from you to believe that we have someone just to watch who is coming and who is going at the swimming pool or at any area of the hotel! Or do you believe we had someone from the FBI to check on you?! :'D If you believe that the meals we serve are just okay then you should do some research and try to find another hotel which has it's own organic vegetable garden and that uses only fresh ingredients for the meals prepared for guests who have meals included in their accommodation, either half board or all inclusive. About all the rest you write, you can read all the other people's opinion in the previous reviews who say completely different things about Eva and Dimitris. It is sad that a minority of people believe that because they are guests they have to hear the word "yes" and "you are right" all the time. We are people too and respect is equal between owners, staff and guests. Have a nice day!

We stayed as a family of 2 adults and 4 daughters and we arrived at the hotel at around 2.30am and were greeted by the owners Eva & Demetrius, which we thought was a lovely touch & gave us the immediate feeling of a family run hotel. We were shown to our rooms and sorted out the safe and air-con. The hotel is run expertly by Eva and nothing is ever too much trouble, you are made to feel like part of their family. The rooms are very spacious, very clean and have everything you need (large under counter larder fridge, hair dryer, tv & kettle). Due to covid the maids can only clean the rooms every other day or so, which was absolutely fine & they do so with their lovely touches of arranging your PJ’s nicely on the bed. The pool is lovely and always spotlessly clean with a poolside bar, playing background music all day. There were always plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. You eat your breakfast in the hotel and then the short walk to the beach front restaurant for your evening meal (& lunch if on all inclusive). This is where Demetrius carries on the family welcome at his beautiful restaurant, with stunning views, there is also a sunbathing terrace below, where we spent a lot of our time during the day. Demetrius is very passionate about his home made food with much of the ingredients from is own farm and all locally sourced meats and fish. We struck up quite a friendship in just our 11 nights, it was the highlight to the end of each day. We stayed half board and the food at breakfast was lovely and the food in the restaurant was out of this world. The fish always lovely, pork & beef just fell apart and was so tender and the chicken kebabs were amazing, also the soups were the freshest and best we have ever had. We would all like to thank Eva, Demetrius, Stefania & all the other hard working staff who worked tirelessly to make our stay so relaxing and enjoyable.

My family and I just returned from a week in Crete. The staff are warm and friendly and the food at the beachside restaurant was delicious. The beach was a tad choppy at times but it was beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for a quiet break in a nice setting. The bathroom could be bigger but the shower was perfect after a long day in the sun or at the beach. A special thanks to Demetrius at the beach restaurant who is passionate about customer care and is also very warm and thoughtful when it comes to ensuring that you enjoy the food and your holiday. The same can be said about all the staff at the hotel from the warm welcome you receive at reception to the helpful staff serving breakfast and dinner. Overall we had a really nice time and my daughters can’t wait to return.

The only good thing about this hotel is the sun.

If you have paid to go all inclusive at this hotel then you are in for a shock!! Make sure you take plenty of money as you will need it. We paid £800 each for 5 days and what an absolute waste of money it was!!
If you’re expecting a typical all inclusive hotel where you are completely catered for and do not need to leave the hotel unless you really want to then this is not the hotel for you.

The only drinks included are house wine, beer, Ouzo and Raki. Drinks are one at a time and you MUST return one cup before you get another drink. The food is shocking and always cold, there’s about 4 options per meal, spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti or spaghetti. If you’re half board or self catering you get to choose from the a la carte menu which looks a hell of a lot better than the cold food we had to put up with. However we gave up on the second day and ate at the restaurant across the road and the coffee stop. Which I would highly recommend.

The restaurant is not going on the beach and there is no beach bar. The beach was washed away about 2 years ago. However the views from the restaurant are incredible.

The pool was absolutely disgusting and you got out of it smelling like dirty pond water. The sides of the pool were covered in grime and not once did I see it cleaned the whole time we were there. The beach is about 15 minutes walk from the hotel, I would recommend you go there instead of the pool.

We complained to jet2 on the first night and asked to move hotels - they couldn’t have been less helpful if they tried. My advice, just avoid this hotel!
