We thought the view from our balcony couldn't be any better and then one day we looked up and saw this. The ads don't exaggerate, this place is gorgeous!

Nestled on a stunning beachfront, Secret Harbour Beach Resort is celebrated for its tranquil, beachy atmosphere, despite some concerns about dated decor and occasional mustiness. Guests laud the comfortable, well-equipped rooms but suggest some could benefit from refurbishment and improved cleaning. The prime location is a magnet for repeat visitors, and while the amenities including kitchens and beach essentials are generally appreciated, some guests note room for improvement in facilities and service. Opinions on value are mixed, with high costs sometimes overshadowing the resort's cleanliness and typically commendable service.

If you are looking for a great resort, with great food, and on a great beach with awesome snorkeling; then this is the resort for you! The room on the beach was great and has such a great view from the balcony. Although there were a couple small things that could be fixed (bathroom door was sticky and one of the screen doors was messed up some). The food in the Patio restaurant was really good and the drinks from the bar as well. We didn't get a chance to visit the Sunset Grille for dinner, but heard it was amazing. All of the staff were very nice and helpful; especially at the front desk were very helpful at check-in, check-out, and helping to get taxis.

Just fair warning you will heard a rooster every morning around 5 AM or so. That was a little annoying, but not a huge deal.

We did have 1 issue on our stay, and honestly it was a pretty huge issue. We went out for the day on a boat excursion, and when we came back (around 4 pm) the door to our room was wide open and our room had been services. So, house keeping left our door to our room wide open for who knows how long. I'm sure this was a simple oversight; but we just didn't request housekeeping for the rest of the trip due to this. I don't think this takes away from how great of a resort this is.

If we go back to St Thomas, Secret Harbor will be the first place we look.

Thank you for your recent stay and wonderful review. We love hearing that we are a great resort with great food on a great beach with awesome snorkeling. It sounds like you appreciated the view from your beachfront condominium, enjoyed the Patio restaurant, and had some awesome snorkeling adventures. We are shocked to hear about the door being left open following housekeeping and grateful that all was OK. Thank you for your calm response. We will bring this issue up with the housekeeping team. Please accept our heartfelt apology. We appreciate you choosing Secret Harbour and look forward to welcoming you back. All the best,

Came here on our honeymoon in December 2020 and off the bat was amazed by how close we were to the beach. No more than 100 steps from our door to the water. The unit was clean and had almost everything you need (fridges may not be connected to water so good idea to check and buy bottled water at local Food Center location).

The beach was very clean and quiet. The water was crystal clear and was perfect for snorkeling. Plenty of things to see under the water. Caught a glimpse of a sting ray and lobster among a dozen or so varieties of fish. Plenty of things to rent at the local shop which is conveniently right next to the condos and restaurants.

The staff were all incredibly pleasant. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Our room was well taken care while we were out at the beach or exploring the Virgin Islands. The staff left nothing to be desired and were always helpful when an issue or question arose.

The two restaurants served top quality food. There's a casual and a formal side. We ate at the casual side almost every day and the food never disappointed. The formal side also was delicious and well worth the price. The cocktails were decently priced and were made very well. My wife would recommend the gyro, but I personally loved their burger.

I would recommend renting a car while visiting here as well as bottled water in case the fridge isn't hooked up to a water line. We went to the local grocery store called Food Center and they had plenty of items to pick from at a decent price. The condo should have a fully stocked kitchen so if you want to cook a meal for yourself, you should be able to.

Overall, our experience was fantastic. I would not hesitate to come here again and would recommend it to anyone who was looking to visit St. Thomas. It's close to plenty of restaurants and the ferry to St. John. The staff were great and the amenities delivered everything you could want. Between it's proximity to Red Hook, the St. John ferry, and the beautiful beach which is just steps away, Secret Harbour is a fantastic place to stay!

Thank you for spending your honeymoon at Secret Harbour! We are thrilled that you had a fantastic experience and that you 'would not hesitate to come back and would recommend us to anyone looking to visit St Thomas'. Thank you! We look forward to welcoming you again. And we really appreciate your 5-star review for location, cleanliness and service. Love that you found the beach clean and quiet and that everyone was helpful and friendly. Sounds like you enjoyed snorkeling and both restaurants. We appreciate hearing that both the casual and formal restaurants served top quality food that was well worth the price. We will pass that info on to Sunset Grille and to The Patio. And it sounds like you were able to grocery shop and cook in your fully equipped kitchen - a nice plus when you feel like eating some meals in your condo. Most of all we are grateful to have added you as a member of the Secret Harbour family. Please stay in touch and return for more happy memories. At your service,

We stayed here from July 1st through July 5th and it was amazing! Khadysha was the person who contacted us via email before we arrived. We requested a modern beachfront condo and that's exactly what she gave us. Room 131 was absolutely beautiful. The owner of this condo thought of everything! We order food online prior to our arrival from the recommended online grocery store and it was there once we arrived all put away in the refrigerator!! The air and fans were perfectly cool especially when we came back from the beach hot and sweaty.

Did I mention the beach?? It was beautiful, small, semi-private on the days that we were there and it felt like we had the beach to ourselves. The waters were calm and turqouise blue! The only downfall was the stones in the water (be sure to wear water shoes). There was a few small fish that swam around my feet which caught me off guard (never experienced that in shallow water before) but I laughed it off.

Our entire stay was amazing! The food at Sunset Grill was delicious, especially my Veggie Burger, the best I ever had!!

Staff were friendly and we respected each other by wearing our masks around the property. For the most part people did social distance except at the bar but we didn't go to the bar so we were perfectly distanced.

Thank you Secret Harbor Beach Hotel for a comfortable and beautiful stay in St. Thomas we felt there especially traveling during COVID-19.

So, the beach here is beautiful. The water is crystal clear and calm, the sand is soft, and the location is secluded. The hotel, however, is just and certainly feels dated, despite claims from the owners that it was recently renovated. Since, I guess, each unit is individually owned, your mileage may vary. I stayed in #116 and would call ahead to make sure you get a different unit.

My mattress was stiff as a board and was reminiscent of cheap motels I used to stay at when I was in college. The sheets were similarly hard and the blanket was a stiff, thin quilt. The bathroom was rather spartan, poorly lit and just not nice.

Everything in the hotel was just cheap. The towels were hard and flimsy. The TV was about 10 years old and standard definition. The front desk staff was alternately welcoming and somewhat bothered depending on who was manning the desk.

All in all, it felt like a Holiday Inn of yesteryear on a lovely beach. That would be fine if I hadn't paid $325/night. At that price point, you should expect more luxurious accommodations.

Thank you for your review. We are happy that you found the beach beautiful yet disappointed that you were not pleased with your room. Yes each room is decorated and renovated separately at the owner's direction. We do try to ensure that each guest is happy with their unit. Some are modern and some are casual beachy. We are truly saddened that we did not meet your expectations and we sincerely hope that you give us the opportunity to exceed your expectations another time. Thank you again for your honest comments. We booked SHBR last minute to take a break and relax before the new school year. It was our first time to St. Thomas and it was during COVID. We followed all restrictions. We wore our masks and to be honest I felt more safe with not being exposed there than I do in the mainlands. All staff were very accommodating and always wearing masks and cleaning common areas with sanitizer. The food at sunset grill was wonderful and the snorkeling, oh wow - beautiful!!

We brought our negative COVID results as recommended, and the resort was appreciative. It’s nice to know they ask their guests for proof and we were more than happy to comply for safety. On the last day our flight was delayed significantly and Javier was eager to allow us to check out later to avoid hours waiting at the airport. Most definitely would stay here again, it’s a perfect place for a family trip. Anticipating another stay after everything calms down <3 thank you so much ☺️

We spent 5 days at Secret Harbour Beach Resort and enjoyed it very much. We stayed in a one bedroom condo on the 3rd floor and the view was fantastic. Be aware that each condo is individually owned and furnishings can vary. We stayed in unit 333. The condo was clean and comfortable. The mattress on the pull out sofa bed was very thin and worn out and probably wouldn't work well for adults, but it suited our four year old just fine. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and cooking utensils for those who would like to cook some of their meals instead of eating out (the grocery store is about a 5 minute drive away.) The resort is very close to Red Hook for some additional dining options and the ferry if you choose to go over to St. John. The restaurant on site is good, although only the patio area is open currently. The beach is perfect. While several of the beaches had seaweed washed up on the sand, there was none to be seen at Secret Harbour. They had plenty of chairs and umbrellas reserved for hotel guests, so we didn't feel like we had to be down at the beach by 6 am to claim a spot. One thing I'd wished we had been warned about was the sand flies. We ended up with so many bites on our legs while eating dinner the first night. Nobody's fault but our own, but something to be aware of. Definitely bring insect repellent or buy some locally first chance you get. The only small complaint I had was with the air conditioning . It cooled VERY well everywhere but the bedroom. It wasn't terrible, but we'd have to make it almost too cold in the rest of the condo so that the bedroom wasn't hot. We did quite a bit of research when deciding where to stay, and I think we made the best choice. I would 100% stay here again in the future.

Thank you Justin for your 5-star review of Secret Harbour. And thank you for sharing your aerial photography with us - you are an amazing photographer! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your first visit and that you would 100% stay here again in the future. That makes us feel really great. We are pleased that you found your one-bedroom condo clean and comfortable and that the kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. We are glad that your four-year old found the pull out couch suitable and we will take your comment to heart by putting it on the list for an upgrade. Very glad that you found the restaurant good, the beach perfect, and plenty of chairs and umbrellas for your use. We are sorry to learn that you reacted to the sand flies. They are often called 'no see-ums' in the Caribbean and seem to impact some people more than others. Your suggestion of bug spray is good and it can be found in the dive shop next to the restaurant. FYI...if you spend more time in the Caribbean, you may no longer react to the no see ums. Not sure why that happens yet for those of us that live in paradise - we are grateful. Thank you again Justin for trusting us with your family vacation. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. At your service, Javier De La Rosa

We had an awesome stay! The only negative was that the Dive Package needs better communication. Important details were in fine print, easily over-looked, and misleading. When you book a resort package for 2 people at other dive resorts, that typically includes 2 divers. But not at Secret Harbour. Luckily, the dive crew at Aqua Action was amazing and got us on the boat without a reservation. If you book the dive package, just call Aqua Action directly to reserve your spot on the boat and get all the details straight on pricing, schedule, etc. because the resort staff has no information on any of this. Other than that, which was quickly and smoothly rectified, our stay was amazing.

The Restaurant/Bar was fantastic and outdoors, but with a covering for shade/rain. The tables were social distanced, all staff wore masks and we saw them actively enforcing the mask rule among patrons. Service was fantastic and personable. We felt so comfortable here, that we ate almost all our meals here. Our room also had a kitchen (1 room condo suite), so we went to the local grocery store (<5 minute drive) and got a few breakfast and snack items for the room.

The room was huge, very clean, and comfortable. Every room is different, but ours had very nice quality furnishings, sturdy and comfortable patio furniture, and even a fan on the patio. The view from the patio was gorgeous. I'm glad we went with the Oceanfront room. I enjoyed sitting on the patio and listening to the waves. It was a bit far to the pool, but that didn't matter to us because we mainly used the ocean and only visited the pool once. The pool was huge and had a hot tub area incorporated into it as well.

We liked the location being outside of the main town. It was a short drive to the Redhook Ferry and a quick 20 minute ferry ride to St John for a day trip.

Thank you for your 4-star review. We are so pleased that you had an awesome stay and great scuba diving. We apologize for any miscommunication with the dive package and happy to learn that all was resolved quickly and to your satisfaction. Very happy that in this time of Covid you felt comfortable dining in the restaurant and that you appreciated the active enforcement of masks and social distancing. We will relay your comments that you found the service fantastic and personable. Happy too that you appreciated the ability to have a full kitchen in your beachfront condominium and that you could stock with groceries and enjoy some meals in your room. It makes us smile when we read that you found your room huge, very clean and comfortable with quality furnishings. Yes, you are correct that each unit is different as it is privately owned and this is part of our charm. We are not a cookie cutter resort. We traveled during Covid, and wanted somewhere fun and easy. The main chain resorts were closed, so I happened upon this property accidentally. This is a great little resort, perfect for couples or families. Close to Red Hook, the Ritz Carlton, and great shopping/dining, Secret Harbour has an awesome beach. There is a little restaurant and bar that serves breakfast/lunch/dinner and has a delicious local flavor. The staff were friendly and helpful and Javier the manager even helped us with our luggage and showed us to our room while the other staff attended to other guests. It felt like a little family! While the furniture in the rooms is a bit dated, everything is clean and fresh, including the kitchens, bathrooms and linens. My only surprise was that you have to request having your room to be made up, but I probably just overlooked that in some of the arrival information we were given. We stayed in building 3, room 322, which had a great view and was easily accessible to the beach. I would definitely return, and would now rethink staying at some of the bigger chain resorts.

Thank you Jaime for your first visit to Secret Harbour and sharing such a nice review. You are very thoughtful. And we appreciate you saying that everything in your room was clean and fresh including the kitchen, bathrooms, and linens. Thank you for mentioning housekeeping. In pre-covid times we did have daily housekeeping. Now, to ensure the health and safety of our guests, families, and staff, housekeeping is a requested service typically every 2 days. We look forward to post-covid days when we can return to daily housekeeping. Thank you again for your trust and for joining the Secret Harbour family. At your service, Javier de La Rosa

My family stayed here for a week over the holidays and it was extremely expensive and nothing special.
The property itself sits on a nice but small beach. There were never enough chairs or shade and people set their stuff out the night before. The cruise ships taxi people to the beach leaving it overcrowded and littered with garbage. The restaurant ran out of food two different days. One night they didn't even tell us before bringing out half of what we ordered, even though they knew ahead of our order, and then charging us the same overpriced amount.
The buildings were very dated! You need a key to open the condo and they only give you one. That means a two bedroom condo with 4 adults only gets one key. And you better hope you don't lose it. The showers had mold everywhere and were very small. The dishes in the cabinet were dirty and we found food on some of the silverware. The sliding glass door was broken and the screen was ripped. The walls were so thin you could hear the people next door sneeze. Our friends stayed in the adjacent building and had brown water in their toilet. They were told that it was unfiltered grey water but the water was completely brown.
Overall, it was overrated, underwhelming, and very expensive.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to learn that it did not meet your expectations. The holiday season can be challenging when we are at full capacity and this is of course exacerbated by taxis bringing holiday visitors from the cruise ships over which we have no control. Our restaurant partner does do an excellent job on most days and it is unfortunate that you experienced less than perfect service from them. We do hope you enjoyed the beach and some warm sunshine and that you do have some happy memories of your trip to St Thomas and the Virgin Islands. Respectfully, Javier De La Rosa

My wife and I started planning this trip last January (2019). We did a lot of research and decided, based on a wide consensus of great reviews, on Secret Harbour Beach Resort. I will say that we were not disappointed either!
Secret Harbour is located at the eastern end of St. Thomas on Nazareth Bay. It is probably the nicest, most swim and snorkel friendly beach on St. Thomas. We found that to be the general opinion of everyone that is familiar with the island with many of them either living there or having been regulars there for years.
The resort itself is very nice and well maintained with a range of accommodations to suit most vacationer's needs. We rented a "studio condo" in one of the beach front buildings and it was perfect for us.
The two partner entities on site, Sunset Grille and Aqua Action Dive Center are excellent compliments to the resort as well. We had dinner twice and several lunches at Sunset Grille and I went scuba diving 8 times with the Aqua Action team. Special mentions to the dive crew, Danny, Jessie, Courtney, Juan and boat captain Billy, all of whom are experts and did a fantastic job. They all helped make my vacation more memorable. Also a special mention to Erin and Diane in the dive shop who also helped make our time more special. Sunset Grille team member Joy is a breath of fresh air and covers the beach-goers with top notch food and drink service.

Depends upon if you’re traveling alone or with another person. Studio is fine if it’s just you. Spring for a bedroom if you bring “company.”

Yes. All beaches are public and allow visitors to access them regardless of adjacent commercial developments or properties. Parking at places like Secret Harbour can be very difficult as they have very small areas available for public parking. If you want to go to a beach like Secret Harbour or Emerald, go early.
