It is a typical holiday town, with very little to offer in terms of Spanish history and culture. Many large buildings and hotels make the area a bit characterless. However, it is a good place to go to the beach and stay in good hotels. At the time we went, there was little nightlife (1 week of July 2024) so we ended up staying at the hotel more at night.
The beach has a good stretch of sand with the coarse (but not uncomfortable) sand typical of this area of Spain. Beaches with showers and good conditions in general.
I was a little disappointed with the lack of soul in the area, as it lacked more of a southern Spanish feel.

We were the first half of July and it is so big that you can be quietly without burdens. Also the fact that it is gravel and that it has a small step near the shore, makes me think that it is not a beach that ever gets crowded. The pictures I put up are taken at 14:00 in July and you will see that we were practically alone.
My son enjoyed it, but it’s true that you had to watch because right away (about 1 m from the shore) the water was coming to his neck (it measures 1.2 m). When we went to sea it was a raft, without a wave. The murky water.
The beach has showers and a large promenade, beach bars and plenty of free parking.
Pros: huge, quiet, with showers, parking, bars and few people.
Cons: for regular children because it covers a lot and they can not play with sand.
In short: if you are looking for a quiet beach with amenities, to go as a couple or in an adult group, you will enjoy it a lot. If you’re with children, you’ll need to watch them especially if they can’t swim.

Totally dead. We came on Christmas week and this place is perfect if you like walking, cycling or relaxing with absolutely nothing to do. Not my idea of a holiday.

The beaches are very clean well looked after there are beach areas of sunbeds scattered across the beach areas 1 bed will cost you €5.00 each there always someone there my tip these are good but word of warning watch out for Mosquito in August and September its breeding Times you could get seriously bitten on the beach walking or lying down, anyway another is people selling things please please be aware of these people if you take your eyes off your bags ect they could end up becoming there property keep your belonging close to you do not get to extracted from them chatting to you. Also watch out for others around you be careful of strangers shacking your hand a ring could go missing or your watch just be aware of these little things while on holiday anywhere really. Other wise the beaches are clean tidy well looked after. A plus

Extremely long promenade for easy strolling with numerous beach bars & restaurants situated along the walk. Also a very busy cycle path accepting all wheeled vehicles it seemed. Care at certain spots when crossing needs to be taken. Beach (as highlighted) is fine by coarse shingle in most areas. Beach is well maintained daily to smooth areas. Numerous sunbed areas along the whole beach area.

We couldn't enjoy this beach because the day was cloudy and windy, although we did take a walk along the shore.

The beach is clean, and has lifeguards and bathrooms, in that sense good, but it is not sand, it is made of little stones that stick into you, and at the time we went there were quite a few waves, and the sea seemed to take you to inside, so not to go with children, because they can't bathe or be on the shore or make sand castles....

Praia extensa, de areia grossa e cor escura. É limpa diariamente pela freguesia de Roquetas. Água a 20, 21 graus. Pouco frequentada durante a semana, com exceção dos hóspedes das unidades hoteleiras. Mais movimento durante o fim de semana. É agradável.

Not my cup of tea. Too many people. Took the tourists train and were very disappointed. New development lots of hotels.

If like my husband you struggle on hills then this place is ideal, a beautiful clean long promonade. Not all built up like some of the Costa de Sol, restaurants dotted here and there and some shope, even an open air church It is very clean and the beach is kept immaculate. Visited mainly by the Spanish, it is rrally a good location for a break.

Why can we not use inflatables at the beach? Is it covid related or because of the sharp drop in the water and the waves? Lifeguard told us we couldn’t, but we don’t know why.
