This Mosque isn't as elaborate as the Blue Mosque, but the same architect created both. This one is less crowded and feels less touristy (plenty of tourists, but quieter). The tomb of Suleyman the Magnificent was so interesting for me as a history buff, and the building housing it has beautiful stained glass. Definitely worth a visit.

This is an amazing piece of architecture. Many YouTubers said that it is their favourite mosque and I can see why. Amazing architecture and in a lovely area and the views are breathtaking. Afterwards we managed to walk to the Grand Bazaar which is a short distance away.

Très belle mosquée ( moins belle que la mosquée cependant), possibilité de visiter également les tombeaux de Soliman le Magnifique et de son épouse. Beaux jardins avec vue sur le Bosphore.

エジプシャンバザール前に巨大なモスクが鎮座してる。ブルーモスクは有名で混雑が激しいが、数百年遅れて建立されたさらに巨大なモスクはそこまで有名でないがうえに、混雑はない。内外ともブルーモスクに負けないのに。

An impressive imperial mosque situated close to the Grand Bazaar. A bit out of the way but much quieter than the likes of the Blue Mosque as a result, and set within a much larger complex comprising gardens and tombs. Arguably somewhat less intricately detailed internally than the Blue Mosque but the ambience is much more enjoyable owing to it being much less busy. The views over the Golden Horn are excellent too!

My Uncle & I visited Istanbul for the first time in June 2024. We visited the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Yeni Mosque in the morning of our 2nd day in Istanbul and decided to hike up the steep and narrow streets to this hilltop mosque. It was a challenging hike but the effort and determination paid off BIG TIME, because the Suleymaniye Mosque turned out to be as large and as beautiful as the Sultanahmet Camii(Blue Mosque), although the Suleymaniye Mosque only has 4 minarets while the Blue Mosque has 6. In Turkiye, only 2 mosques have 6 minarets; the Blue Mosque and the Camlica Camii, which is located in Uskudar on the Asian side of Istanbul. The number of minarets indicates the hierarchy of the mosque on the global Islamic chart, the most revered mosque in the world is the Grand Mosque of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which has 7 minarets.
The Suleymaniye Mosque compound has the most SPECTACULAR & breathtaking(no pun intended!) views of the Bosphorus and Istanbul City, and it is nowhere nearly as crowded and busy as the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Just the views alone are TOTALLY WORTH the strenuous hike up to this mosque! Up here, you can also visit the tomb of Sultan Suleymaniye and his wife, as well as the tomb of Senan, the architect who designed and built this magnificent mosque.
The Suleymaniye Mosque compound has the most SPECTACULAR & breathtaking(no pun intended!) views of the Bosphorus and Istanbul City, and it is nowhere nearly as crowded and busy as the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. You can check real opening hours on the website. For example the mosque is open on holidays. But google and tripadvisor shows the wrong opening hours.

A beautiful mosque up on the hill above the spice market neighborhood. A site to behold fr much of Istanbul but worth going up to and going inside for 10-15 mins for the inspiring grand architecture. They do a nice job separating worshippers from sightseers like me in a way that works. The view of the city and its waterways from the grounds is spectacular.

This Mosque needs no presentation. Just an intresting thing: the 4 minarets have 10 balconies. When Süleyman saw it, asked Mimar Sinan why are not the same. The answer: 2 minarets have 3 balconies and 2 minarets have just 2 because "The Magnificent" was the 10th sultan of the Ottoman Empire.

Free entrance . Out of the way. The oldest mosque in Turkey built completely during the Ottoman empire between 1550 and 1557, showcasing among the best of Ottoman architecture including stained glass windows under a 53 meter dome, surrounded by four minarets. The complex includes tombs of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his wife Hürrem Sultan (Roxelana), includes a hospital, primary school, public baths, a kitchen. The views including the Bosporus river are spectacular!

Την Παρασκευή κλείνει φυσικά για τους τουρίστες την ώρα της μεγάλης προσευχής (10:30-13:45) άρα θα πρέπει να το επισκεφθείτε ή πρωί (από τις 9) ή μετά τις 13:45 (κλείνει όμως νωρίς το απόγευμα).

Cuesta muy barato serán unas 70 liras turcas , si eres Mexicano te puedo recomendar el tour que compré a Turquía esta regalado $1400 dólares con avión , hospedaje , desayunos cenas , entradas , guía , transportes a varias ciudades recorriendo 2500 km. 10 días . Y todo de lujo , el contacto de la agencia de viajes es Cristián Orozco tel 7551152677 te saldrá mucho más barato que si vas por tu cuenta .

After a number of internet searches, I am looking for more specific information regarding renovations to Istanbul’s Blue Mosque. I plan to visit in late April 2019 (just before May's Ramazan). I have read that the completion of renovations will be 2020. I assume this massive renovation project will take place in increments. Exterior, Interior, Underground, etc. Does anyone know if the interior scaffolding will remain to at least the end of April, or is this just wishful thinking on my part? Is there a more detailed anticipated schedule available to the public? This may turn out to be a once in a lifetime visit to Istanbul and I'd be a bit disappointed if the one time in my life I picked to visit the infamous mosque... it would be obscured.

The Blue Mosque is not Süleymaniye Mosque. The latter was renovated some years ago.
Are you sure you mean the Blue Mosque? It is Sultanahmet Mosque.

Desconozco los horarios de apertura. pero lo que si es cierto estabamos a las 11h y estaba abierta la mezquita. y antes estabamos en el mausoleo a las 10 de la mañana estabab abierto. los mausoleos estaban abiertos a las 8:30 de la mañana. y la mezquita azul las he visto temprano por la mañana y por la tarde y noche.
