We went to the excellent Escofet Oliver stop to buy the Botifarra d'ou that won second prize... delicious!

The rather inconspicuous market hall "Mercado del Ninot" is my insider tip for market hall fans and contains two real highlights. For fish lovers the "Medusa 73" and for meat lovers the "De Cruz Morales". While the market hall on the Ramblas is firmly in the hands of tourists, here you will find almost exclusively locals and corresponding offers.

in the Eixemple district, Metro Hospital Clinic, a nice market, with splendid displays of dog, fish, fruit and vegetables, cheeses, a truly pleasant walk through many wonders, it is possible to sit down to take tasty breaks with good proposals

This is not a huge market but it has a good selection of meats, fish, vegetables, charcuterie, etc. And unlike many of the larger markets in the center of Barcelona this one doesn't cater to tourists, most of the shoppers are locals. There is even a wine stand that sells wine directly from the barrels.
Products tend to be fresh and of good quality and prices average for the area. The floor below the market holds Mercadona, a very large supermarket with everything one may need.
Try to have lunch at one of the several dinning areas, many of which are an extension of the merchant's stands, they have only a few tables, or in some cases you can eat at the counter. We had a great menu del dia at MB's in a corner of the market, attached to a butcher's shop with about 8 small tables. Good food, well prepared, three plates and a drink for 16.50 euros. The service was excellent, friendly and on top of everything, they actually cared that you enjoyed your meal.

This is a great place to spend time wandering around without the masses of other more famous Barcelona markets. Stalls are set out like works of art and then there are the eateries.
We chose La Medusa. 7 of us including young children sat watching in wonder at the food preparation in this open kitchen
Staff were super helpful. The prawn wrapped in vermicelli type noodles was amazing but the consensus came out on favour of the seared tuna. Excellent Cava.

Much less touristy than the famous Mercat de Bodequeria & in my opinion that made it a more pleasant experience. Full of locals. Prices cheaper too.

Super petit marché !! Avec des produits authentiques et de qualités. Possibilité de manger sur place les produits frais vendu par les marchants.

After tree years of the COVID epidemic, we were worried that the legendary seafood restaurant "Medusa 73" might not still be at the Nitot Market. Happily it is still there, and we had an enjoyable lunch of Paella, and squid, washed down with a good Dry White wine. Our waitress, Tere, was efficient and friendly.
Give "Medusa 73" a try; you will not be disappointed!

In the l'Eixample area it’s a great outlet of freshness and healthiness. Replete with corridors and stalls heaving with fine foods it is busy from morning time onwards.
Interesting that it was open air till 1933, and it has undergone a number of revampings. Likewise it has had a number of name changes, and has adopted its popular name since democracy’s arrival.
