I had been there two years ago and I was fascinated, this time I liked it even more especially when it is not yet full. After my fifth visit to Barcelona and after seeing dozens of squares in this beautiful city I must admit that for me it is the most beautiful square in Barcelona, not very large and chaotic like the others and just as beautiful are its bars and the beautiful fountain.

This is a beautiful plaza with one restaurant after another. My favorite place in Barcelona without a doubt. It is a combination of busy and restful at the same time.

It is for me the most beautiful square in Barcelona and the most typical. There are many restaurants under the arcades and it is quite cool in sunny weather. This is definitely worth a visit.

On our visit to Barcelona we knew the Placa Reial was on the list of must see places. After a full morning of Goudi and scenic views of the city from every corner, we just happened to stumble into the Placa Reial. Easy check mark and such fun! We were able to get a table at one venue for lunch right on the square, and another great seat from a different vantage point for dinner and had great meals while being entertained by the various street performers who do their show for the hopes of a Euro or two (or more) by the viewers. So much activity and fun just to watch the people as you take in the history of your location and all that has happened in this incredible space.
Recommend you bring coins for the performers and space on your camera for the many pictures you will want to take. Also, a good size appetite for the many, many good options all around the square to eat and sip through the afternoon and into the night!

Beautiful square in Barcelona near the central Rampla. There are fountains, plants and commercial activities. A good place also for a moment's rest.

It may be strange, but compared to the crowds of tourists on La Rambla, this square was relatively quiet for us. There is some shade, very nice surroundings, restaurants, and there are quite often street performances.

It is a very beautiful square located in the center of the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. Beautiful palm trees in the center of atypical buildings in the old town of Barcelona. Lots of terraces. Too many tourists.

We were in the beautiful arcaded square, but it needs good cleaning and maintenance. It's quite dirty.

Following in the wake of the arcaded plazas that were built from the 16th century onwards in Spain, this is one more. It doesn't seem like a big deal to me, nor does it differ or provide anything different from the others on the peninsula. In my opinion, if you can avoid it, do it.

Sentimos mucho que se te haya decepcionado. Realmente creemos que Plaça Reial sea un diamante en bruto de Barcelona. En la próxima, pregunta por Mr. Patrick a los camareros!

This a very popular tourist and busy square. It comes to life at night.
The perimeter is scattered with bars restaurants and clubs.

How safe is Plaça Reial? I stayed here in the late 90s and it was the home of drug dealers, has it improved? I want to take my kids!

We saw none of it. Plenty of high profile police from time to time. Drugs obvious in some streets nearby.

Come arrivare in questa piazza dall aereoporto? Dato che soggiorneremo proprio lì a breve?
Ho letto la metro liceu molto vicina ? Qlk sa il percorso non vorremmo camminare tanto a piedi dato il caldo e due stive con due bagagli a mano!!! Grazie

la metro arriva sino al centro e le fermate sulla rambla danno la possibilità di arrivare alla placa real con pochi passi a piedi

Ho letto che meglio evitare come zona barrio gotico e ravel se così si scrivono...
Visto che soggiorneremo proprio vicino Plaza ryal ad agosto p ultima settimana volevo sapere è vero?
Quali sono le zone da abitate notte e giorno ? Soprattutto notte ?
La metro luceu molto vicina al nostro hotel e ben collegata ??
