Due to my travel schedule, I only stayed in Barcelona on Monday, and while many facilities were closed on Mondays, this museum was open, so I went to see it. It was near a metro station. It seems that the museum was built in an old shipyard. The explanations for each exhibit were only in Spanish and English, so it was difficult to understand, but there were replicas of old ships and some video explanations, so it was fun.

A great museum where you can enjoy the continent and the content. Where the maritime history of the country is very present. Remarkable is the Royal galley (life-size replica) of Juan de Austria that participated in the battle of Lepanto against the Ottoman Empire. Spain and Venice stopped the Turk in his advance through the Mediterranean.

Love this museum- it explains 700 years of history, has beautiful exhibits and a lovely garden area and restaurant. Located close to the beach. Very informative. And the Spanish Galleon is amazing when you step into the main building. You can go up to the top of the ship on platforms to view it from above. Tickets are inexpensive.

The worst service I have ever had in my entire life, I went in to have a coffee and while I was finishing, a man comes up and without further ado tells me that he needs the table, and he throws his "reservation" on the table and leaves.
I don't think that's the way to treat someone who comes to consume.

This could be so good. Huge space with lots of pieces but nothing works. They have no English audio tour. Directions are poor. Exhibits are confusing. No colonial era stuff. Maybe hire someone new and start over.

We chiefly wanted to incorporate visiting this museum into our exploration of the waterfront to try the menu del dia as recommended by roadtripspainandportugal.com , one of the YouTube channels we watched before our trip. However, we made the classic tourist mistake of forgetting that museums on weekdays can be full of school parties! The museum itself is very well presented, and it's great to see the old shipbuilding sheds reused while keeping their link with matters nautical. It would be a great option for a rainy ( or too hot) day if you want to give your kids space to run around.
Once we had seen enough of the exhibits we went to the restaurant and were alarmed to see a lot of tables with "reserved" signs, while most of the rest were occupied, including one large school party. In fairness to the staff they did find us a table quickly, but they were clearly understaffed as in the 15 minutes we sat there no- one brought us a menu. One member of staff was behind the bar one collected frozen desserts for the school party and the other was rushing about, but I was not sure why. After 15 minutes, with no menu and not having seen any orders taken OR delivered to the other tables, we gave up and went elsewhere.

We have visited this maritime museum in Barcelona, located in the royal shipyards, some ships with large arches and considerable height, where numerous ships or ships were built, the exhibition very interesting for the maritime paintings, the magnificent models and the royal galleon. Highly recommended

It is a very beautiful museum located inside an old hangar. This museum is located in front of the roundabout where the statue of Christopher Collomb is located. At the bottom of the Rambla. A very beautiful renovated museum. You have to love maritime life and old wooden ships. Cheap and quick to visit.

By far the most beautiful museum I have ever visited.
First of all, I am not a maritime nerd and this was the first time I had been to a museum on this topic.
The location is beautiful and steeped in history in itself. The exhibits are presented in a great way and are very impressive. The highlight is of course the replica of a legendary frigate. But the visual presentations via video and the interactive projects are also just fun.
Rarely has a museum aroused such interest in me and invited me to linger so much.

Visited on Monday 20/11/23 10 Euro entry fee. The building housing the Museum, the Drassanes Reials de Barcelona (Royal Shipyards of Barcelona), is a Gothic architectural complex built over 700 years ago, the contents of which focused on the activities at the site over the years as well as housing a recreation of the Royal Galley. The Royal Galley is the highlight and it's interesting the details of how the Spanish viewed the British decision to ban slavery, as the text on descriptions of the Spanish attitude to it appears to glorify the Spanish attempts to avoid the impacts of that ban.

Dear Erika, in MMB you can visit the Royal Galley, the magnificent replica of Spanish flagship at the Battle of Lepanto (s. XVI), as well as other ships. You can also visit the Santa Eulalia, the centenary schooner in the harbour. We do not exhibit Columbus' ship, althought we do have much books about Columbus in our Public Library.
