An easy way to get to the top of Montjuic and see the fortress at the top. quick and easy, with great views. easy to get to from the hop on/hop off bus dropoff location. buy tickets online on your phone to save 10%. would recommend.

Great views of city and Mediterranean. Fort itself boring. Take funicular to the gondola. Tough walk up. If weather comfy, explore Park. But was way too hot and sunny so we skipped it.

The important thing to know is that you access it from the Paral lel Metro station. Google maps are very not clear about that and I wandered around the streets for a while searching for it before I stumbled upon it after I gave up and was getting back on the Metro to go elsewhere.
it's nothing special, really - it's just a short Metro line with a novel propulsion method and somewhat novel station and cars. Still glad i did it. Wish I'd done it early enough to be able to ride the Teleferico de Montjuïc cable car.

The funicular was opened in Barcelona in 1928 to serve the 1929 International Exhibition. Its main advantage is that it is serviced by TMB, which operates most metro lines, so a single ticket is valid. But you will not be able to ride the cable car to the top of Montjuic with one ticket - it is operated by another company. However, there is a TMB bus that goes from the top station of the funicular to the castle. However, we drove the other way around. From Montjuic station down to Parallel metro station. The funicular road has a single-track configuration. Two modern trains of three cars each separate on a passing loop at the stations. There is nothing to see on the way, because the train goes underground. And the path is small - only 750 meters with a height difference of 76 meters.

We enjoyed using the Montjuïc Funicular to get to Montjuic Castle.
It connects Metro's Paral·lel station (with connections to lines L2 and L3) with the hill of Montjuïc.
You will be rewarded with great views of Barcelona.
The upper station of the funicular is adjacent to the lower station of the Montjuïc

The funicular was our most efficient way to get up and down Montjuic. It was convenient as we could directly access the funicular from the Paral.lel metro station.
The funicular station was completely at angle to match the track. Inside the cars there was not a lot of seats but given the shortness of the ride standing should not be an issue for most.
The ride was smooth and quiet with not much to see since it ran underground most of the way.
Do pay attention to the closing hour, 20:00, as buses or taxis will be your backup to get down from Monjuic. It should not be an issue most of the time since the museums close earlier and there want much else to do.

Easy to buy tickets on Headout app. Conveniently located right by the exit from metro. Beautiful view of the whole city. Didn’t go to the castle but the ride itself was breathtaking

The funicular train from Metro Parallel to Montjuic is good, cheap, efficient, but do not expect any nice views: most of the time it runs underground, and when it emerges there is not much to see. You will have a great view over Barcelona when you exit from the funicular.

Good service and comfortable. Practical for accessing Mont Juic where you can walk, have views of the city and access the Castle and port cable car. It is accessed from the Paralel metro and you pay with the same metro card.

Very short and cheap ride up from the metro station, but saves quite a lot of climbing! Most of it in a tunnel so don't expect much of a view.
We walked from there to the top of the hill as the cable car seemed quite expensive.
