Detailed Reviews
I booked the hotel through Booking.com as we had a day and night out booked up in London and just needed somewhere to sleep that was near everything we needed. We arrived at about 10:30am and Yannis kindly said we could leave our bags which he locked in the office behind reception. The proximity of the hotel was perfect, right near Kings Cross so easy to get about. Our room was ready at 2:30 it was small but had everything we needed. Did look a bit tired, the tap was loose on the sink and the sash window didn't stay up, it was quite warm in the room but we improvised and used the tea tray to keep it open! The room was clean so couldn't ask for more. yannis was a very hospitable guy, very friendly and always answered any questions I messaged him with, very conscientious. Would definitely book here again if we need to stay in London, the price was extremely good for the area!

Never Again! Not very well signed posted like other hotels on the same road, only plaques on the building, that I actually walked past the hotel. Was greated by a man after being let in with a couple who were having problems with the entry code. There's no check in desk, just a table with a laptop. As i checked myself in with the gentleman, it then take the man about 10mins to find the key to my room, as apparently my room is the only room which has a key. Which is a lie. Once found I was taken to my room by the man, which he took me outside of the reception door, down 50yards to another door, through a corridor, out a backdoor to this courtyard and these outhouse buildings were there are 2 of them. The guy opened the door showed me how to lock the door, then left me to my own devices. On inspection was the size of the this so called room. My first impression was what awful wallpaper, then the smell hit me that smelt like mould. Mould soon to be seen on the wallpaper by the door, then on further inspection behind the kettle table was more mould. I had no time to goto reception to ask for another room as the hotel was sold out. Lucky I had a mask with me, as I hate to think what I was inhaling. Bathroom was a ok, small but adequate if your lucky not to be over 6ft. No hand towel proved just a floor mat and bath towel. Bed was comfortable but I didn't sleep well at all. The cup provided for tea or coffee wouldn't even wash down a good breakfast (which is not provided by the hotel). For the price and yes I know it's london on a Saturday night, I have stayed in better conditions for half the price in a capital city. On leaving I made sure I had all my belongings, took the key back to reception were I was greated by a gentleman who only opened the door, told him I was checking out and handed the key back to him. No questions asked if my stay was ok etc. As I was walking away towards the train station, I can safely say I will not be returning and will be looking for a refund for my stay due to the conditions of having to stay in a room that had that much mould of the walls.

We were struggling to find a pet friendly hotel next to Kings Cross when we came across The Melville. It's located right across the road from Kings Cross station so was perfect for our early morning train on the Eurostar. We arrived at the hotel before check in time and were greeted by really firendly staff who couldn't have been more helpful.
We had originally been given a room on the 3rd floor, but as we had a heavy suitcase we were instead moved to the room on the ground floor to avoid having to lug the case up the stairs.
The room itself was quite basic but had everything you needed for an overnight stay. The only downside we had was that we were right next to reception so you could hear comings and goings all night long which meant we didn't really get much sleep at all.
Had we kept the room on the 3rd floor we would think we would have got a lot more sleep. This was the only reason I am marking the hotel down. The fact it's pet friendly and didn't charge any extra pet fees like some greedy hotels do means a lot and they really welcomed our dog, Wylie Westie with open arms.
Would definitely stay here agin if we needed to be close to the station.

The Melville Hotel Kings Cross
It was the worst hotel I’ve stay in London. The experience was very bad, very bad customer service at the venue. The room was located at the basement of the building, the curtains was full of holes and dust, the curtains pole it was all broke, the beds was covered in dust and cotton,as a allergic person I didn’t feel safe and comfortable to sleep there. The hall to the room entry was full of towels like it was the cabinet where they keep the towels and cleaning products. The room it was without any condition for a human being to stay there,it was really disgusting,we couldn’t sleep at the room,it was very late in the night and we had to cancel the booking and look for a different hotel for us to spend the night. We gave videos to prove what happen. Do not stay in this hotel, they are big scammers, they do bad and fake advertising of the rooms, but when you get to the hotel it is a completely different thing of what you’ve paid. As I’ve said we cancel the booking but now they don’t to give us the money back!!! It’s unacceptable, and the guy who was in reception gave us a fake email for us to complaint. I only would given this hotel 1 star because of location, because of the rest it’s 000000 stars!!!

This is probably one of the most disgusting hotels I have ever visited in my life (and I travel a lot I have been in many many places).
After finding hairs in the bed of the first room they gave me (because they don’t wash the sheets) they changed me to another that had bed bugs (see pictures below) and afterwards they changed me to another one that was disgusting of how dirty and full of dust was.
PLEASE DONT GO HERE
I hope the hotel management reads this and considers to either fumigate and close this hole of dirtyness or applies the bear minimum requirements of a hotel.

We really can't praise The Melville Hotel enough. Great location, came down to take in a show and meet friends. A very warm welcome, very clean and spacious room.
The room had everything you needed, and the staff, everyone we spoke to were amzingly friendly and helpful even when asking for something as simple as more coffee in the room, were super helpful. Highly recommended and will defintley be visiting again.

3rd or 4th time staying at this hotel. I cannot fault it or the staff, especially Yannis :) The location of the hotel is great both for tube/train access and if you want to explore by foot.
We had the Marilyn room on this stay. It was spacious and clean. We havent got another trip planned as yet, but will be staying here again when we do.

Stayed here for one night mid week.
The Melville Hotel is on a quiet rd across from a small park and has stylish decor . My room was two doors down from the reception then out at the back of the building I thought this was very quirky, room had a nice clean kitchen areaa sofa desk chair a unit with drawers and a hanging place for your clothes a double bed that was round a corner from the kitchen. A small shower , shower tray needs replacing apart from that I have no complaints it had a flat screen tv and a fridge and kettle every I needed for one night.
I will definitely be staying here again.
As specially as the owners were were so friendly made me feel so welcome.

The location and staff are great. My room 37 though was not the kitsch, cute place on the photos it was tiny and tired. With cheap furniture and accessories and most things in the room broken. The shower doors were broken, the shower head would not stay up as it was broken, the sink was missing the plug, the heated towel radiator was badly rusted, the sockets in the bedroom were coming away from the wall and wobbled, people had scraped into the paint on the walls, lots of flaking pain. The window shutters didn't work properly as were broken. There was no wardrobe but just hangers in the shower room. The reception is under construction so nothing like the photos. For the price I paid it should have been better.

Great location, very friendly staff…. and that’s it!!! We know we’re not going to stay in a luxury hotel, but even for a “3 stars” hotel, this is extremely basic!!!! The room was extremely small (yes, even for Londons standard), we’re in the middle of summer and there wasn’t AC on the room… not even a regular fan…. It was almost impossible to sleep there! The safe box was not working (apparently new ones were coming next week), one night we brought food from outside and there’s not even a little space where you can sit and eat… the micro lobby had couches with their plastic still on (apparently they were brand new, and haven’t prepared them, although we were there for 4 nights), so we had to take the food into the room… also they cleaned once during all of our stay…
Again the location is very good (just 3 mins away from Kings Cross and with pubs and stores around), quiet area, and the staff was great…. Unfortunately the infrastructure wasn’t!

They have them at reception. Just need to ask. They have an iron too but I had to use it in a narrow walkway down in the basement
Correct. No breakfast. You can drop your bags there if you arrive before your room is ready. Easy walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras stations. There are a multitude of places to eat in the area.
There is 24 hour cover on the reception desk so shouldn't be a problem.
If you're talking about the Hotel Melville in Central London near KIng's Cross and St Pancras stations, it's a very small hotel and I doubt if they have the space, but I could be wrong - best to email them about it.
