My wife, daughter and I visited Neuschwanstein castle on April the 10th. Beautiful castle and town. We ended up renting a car and drove from Munich. Real nice drive. We didn’t want to be on a tour bus schedule. Parking was easy in the late morning. We pre booked the tour of the castle to make it easier. Took a few minutes to find the ticket office. Keep going on the main road and go around the curve. 2 or three buildings down on the right.
We were planning on taking the horse carriage up to the castle but the buses were down so the line for the carriage was 2 hours long. It is a long fairly steep incline to walk to the castle. If u r not in good shape it will wear you out. Once we got up there it took a minute to figure out how the line to get in worked. Look at the screen above the gate and find your time on your ticket. Groups are let in at 5 minuet intervals. Once in you need to climb a winding staircase.
It is beautiful inside. The guided tour includes a wireless speaker for each person so the guide doesn’t have to yell. No pictures are allowed inside. Not sure what the beef is. The guide gave some good information. The only problem we had was you are on a incredibly strict timeline. Each room is in and out so the next group can get in. If you are the last ones in the room then you are screwed. A few more minutes per room is needed. We paid to get in so I think it is poor on their part to be so strict. We were able to take a few pictures on the way out. You can from a second story balcony. Great view. Also pictures can be taken in the kitchen. Nice but come on.
I would recommend seeing this castle. Just be aware of time restrictions and the possible long walk up to it. Forgot to mention that they were doing renovation work on part of the outside.
