Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Recently stayed on the Sunday night of a long weekend. Wouldn’t go back - definitely overpriced as it was more an upmarket motel than a hotel and not worth $450/night!
Key reasons:
- Restaurant shuts at 3 and there is no room service
- No one manning the front desk after restaurant shuts - couldn’t get more towels or amenities
- All drinks in the fridge were out of date - pretty poor when there’s no room service
- Room was nice but would have been very disappointed if we hadn’t booked water view

We stumbled across the newly renovated Pasadena last weekend and were surprised by the beauty of the location, the welcoming staff, fabulous dining experience and the fact they had accomodation.

Our enthusiasm led my husband and I to book a nights accomodation and lunch for the following Saturday. Why not have a Staycation we said.

We arrived as planned and again the staff and dining experience continued to please us. I do wish that we hadn’t booked the accomodation though. Although the accomodation decor was pleasing to the eye and new, it wasn’t functional. As experienced travellers, we have seen the good and the bad. I must say I honestly don’t think the architects thought through the construct of the shower/toilet arrangements. I’m glad my husband and I are of medium build. We we’re prepared to ignore this design fault, until our supposed leisurely Sunday morning sleep in was no more... awoken by the sounds of night club music with a ridiculous base being belted our at 8am in the morning.

Shattered was our romantic staycation and the frustration and disappointment saw us pack and leave within the half hour.

Luckily we were close to home and we headed for our favourite Sunday breakfast haunt closer to home.

We highly recommend the dining experience, the location is beautiful and the staff, including Cara, were amazing. You seriously need to think through the combination of running a restaurant and accomodation together.

A number of things made our stay very tiring weekend and anyone who’s planing for a relaxing weekend getaway should know what to expect:

Parking situation
We drove between car parks with no luck then comb through every street parking space for 90 mins. We were absolutely exhausted and gave up searching for car park space. We almost decided to giving up staying the night there and go home but phone rang and got a help from the reception second time. The first time when we desperately reached out for a help was like, “unfortunately there’s nothing we can do so keep trying finding a spot and good luck!?!?”.

I suggest you book a car spot (not all rooms will get one so be careful) before you leave and if you are one of the unlucky ones missing out I guess the best course of action is cancel the room. But if you must come take Uber. Because you do not want to go through our ridiculous 90 mins car spot search.

If you’re claustrophobic think twice
Our room was a Xmas KK gift so we didn’t have a choice over room. The size of room will definitely surprise you. It is the smallest room we’ve ever stayed in our lives.

Limited privacy
You think you could have the views from your room. Yes and no. You have the views but you won’t be able to enjoy them as you are unbelievably close to the pedestrians on the street - you can literally pick up all the talks from the street. We couldn’t stay in the room as nothing was relaxing and decided to sleep only in the room.

The bed is very small. I wonder how two adults would fit in those beds. And no the mattress was not comfy and we deeply regretted that we slept there. We really should have packed up and gone home for a good night sleep after the exhausting day.

Shower - very small shower booth as expected and the water pressure is very frustratingly low. Moreover hot water stopped and had to turn it off and turn it on and wait till hot water came back.

We came for a romantic stay and instead were subjected to horrendous noise and service. There was deafening drilling for the first 2 hours of our stay which meant we had to leave the room. Then a night function (not notified when booking) with deafening live music and a DJ from 7pm to last 11pm. It was literally like being in a nightclub. Unable to talk, watch TV, let alone sleep. For over $300 a night we will be going to Fair Trading if we don’t get a refund.

Wow wow wow! Marketed as just accommodation with restaurants but it was so much more. Not sure I’ve ever known such brilliant, friendly service from everyone. The rooms were excellent with large windows showing off the views and everything else in the rooms were as you could expect. We ate both a dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, menu covered everyone’s taste and delicious.
Overall this place is a upmarket quirky boutique hotel that I’ll stay in each time I’m visiting.

We were looking for a short break away to celebrate an anniversary and found Pasadena in what we already knew to be a lovely location. We weren't disappointed!
We were warmly welcomed by the young woman on reception. She helped carry our bags up the stairs to our room and offered to assist in any way she could.
Our room was clean and comfortable with amazing views over Pittwater. It was lovely to relax and enjoy the view.
Great staff and great accommodation. We highly recommend Pasadena and look forward to returning for another stay.
Pasadena's restaurant was closed as it was Monday so we went next door to the Waterfront Cafe and General Store and had a lovely lunch there.

My partner and I booked a cheeky weekend get-away at the Pasadena and we weren’t left disappointed!

Both of us were extremely happy that we chose this hotel. We were a little concerned about some of the negative reviews prior to booking. Rest assured that we had no cause for concern.

Please do yourselves a favour and go and stay here - tell your friends and your family to come too!

We were extremely last minute arrivals and from the moment we rang to the moment we checked out, we felt special.

This hotel is charming and the customer service is truly second to none (and we’ve done some travelling so have some experience to compare)!

Staff went out of their way to accommodate us in all aspects of our stay.....

Parking? Not a worry!

Restaurant booking at the last minute when they were booked out? Not a problem!

The hotel seems to have been newly refurbished as the room and fittings were impeccable. How wonderful to be able to sit in the large bath, looking out across the water!

Thanks so much Pasadena! We will be back (and will recommend you to everyone we meet)!

We recently had our wedding at Pasadena, Church Point and hired a section of the restaurant for a meal. Overall we had a great day and both the location and food was fantastic. Attention to detail was poor though with regard to wedding details and although we had also booked a room as part of our wedding, there was absolutely no acknowledgement of our day in the form of chocolates or a bottle of wine or something small to mark the occasion. Felt rushed at the end of the evening. Would not recommend for weddings yet.

This is not a place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy some quite time away from the city.

The design and layout of the accommodation means there is a common corridor where you enter your room. Most guests were inconsiderate when leaving and arriving, slamming room doors and talking outside their rooms.

I suggest that upon checkin you tell your guests to lower noise levels in the common areas. Also maybe put up a few discrete signs telling people to be quite. The hinges on the door to stop them slamming are obviously broken, so repair them!!

There is also common public area outside our room window which was used heavily by locals drinking for most of the night and then again used by cyclists early morning. These rooms need better sound proofing!

I know noise is something that is out of the hotels control but probably the most disappointing part of the stay was the size of the room for the price!

$400 for a shoe box with an uncomfortable bed!!! A more suitable price would be $250-$280 for the size of this room and it location(Manly room).

I know there’s not much accommodation out here but that doesn’t mean you need eye gouge on the price.

Leaving here tried, disappointed and ripped off!
