We just returned from two weeks at the Melasti, we stayed in the renovated rooms surrounding the larger pool. The two rooms we had whilst not perfect, where serviced daily, and kept clean. The only noise issues was through the day from the construction works at the hotel next door.

The breakfast whilst different to what the average Aussie would eat, was actually quite good, tasty, there was a range of cooked foods which changed daily, including rice, noodles, fried potato, fried ham, Bacon, Nuggets, Eggs done your way, toast, spreads, two types of cereal, some pastries, juice, tea and coffee. now if you cant find something you like out of the selection every morning then your just not trying.

The rooms are spacious, there is room to spread out and relax, If your booking a standard room and expecting 3 stars then you will be sadly disappointed, if you book a renovated room, then you will get a great sized room, with a king sized bed, air con that works, a full size fridge.

As for the staff, We found the front desk staff to be very accommodating, if there was an issue, we would let them know, and like magic it was fixed. The staff greeted us every time we came and left the place, We even got to try out some basic Bahasa with them which they seemed to love. Talking to our room person was also great, it meant we could get additional water and TP when needed without an issue, the staff at the restaurant where friendly and probably to quick at picking up your used plate,

Noise from the front bar could be a problem with a few of the rooms that face the front bar, but you can also get out of your room and go enjoy the nightly festivities.

Is the Melasti Perfect, No, Could it do with more renovations, yes, can you get a cheaper hotel on the beach, I'm yet to find one.

Would I stay here again, probably, Budget dependent,

This was a well priced resort for a family of my husband and I, 2 adult children and 2 teenagers (2 x interconnecting rooms and 1 x standard room). In a great position right on the beachfront we had drinks on the beach every sunset. All staff were lovely, especially Merkat serving at the bar. Rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, quiet and basic. Bathrooms were of below average standard but perfect for us as we literally use our room to sleep and shower, otherwise we were always out and about. Breakfast was average but enough…if you’re happy with freshly cooked eggs on toast, fruit and a hot cup of coffee it’s perfect. If you are after a full 5 star buffet breakfast, then this place isn’t for you. You get what you pay for, if you want all the trimmings (and maybe I would if we left the kids at home) go to Niksoma next door. But if you have a bigger group, want big rooms and a nice pool…this place is great!

I came here solo stayed 5 nights for the price it’s worth it, not luxurious at all but it’s a place to sleep and I felt safe, onsite security, you can get your laundry done onsite, great location about 2 min walk to the beach and there is mini mart just near the hotel, staff very friendly, staff came and made the bed everyday, only thing I would say is bad is no hot water (not that it bothered me), pool could definitely be colder and also cleaner, and wouldn’t bother with the restaurant/ room service. Food it’s pretty overpriced for the portion and the quality you get. But for the price it’s good

My first room smelt and tasted of mould. Asked for a better room. I had to wait 7 hours. Enquired 5 times. One of my daughters room had a shower that had no water pressure. Her and the kids showered in my room. Toilet was broken and wouldn’t flush. Husband had to fix. Cistern was filthy. Her room had an unpleasant odour. Pool had grime around the edges. Many people falling ill. Breakfast wasn’t worth eating. Mould on bread often. Shortage of cutlery and plates. Will never stay again. We had 2 deluxe and one family room. I was given used bath towels. Showing the cleaner the soil on it he said sorry I will get you more. He returned with damp ones. I’ve been to Bali around 30 times and this is the first negative review I’ve had to write. There needs to be a big cleanup of this hotel and money spent to fix beds electrical and plumbing. Rats galore.

Rundown hotel, staff try and check you into a filthy un used room with broken safe, broken door, air con faulty, mouldy walls and fridge, stained linen, no working power outlets and a revolting bathroom. Then they want $140 to "upgrade" you. Once upgraded to a superior room the bathroom is smelly with every use and aircon barely works.Hotel staff not pleasant or interactive, breakfast rather plain and covered in ants. Only positives being the pool, swim up bar and that it backs right onto the beach. Have stayed in 2 star in Kuta that outshines this 3 star hotel in Legian.

I looked at a room there, it was mouldy and old so I went next door. Surprised anyone stays there, they blast out noisy awful music when you’d want to have a relaxing holiday. Could be ace resort with that location but falls flat in many ways.

The good bits; location is great right on the beach and close to lots of restaurants. It was obviously a great hotel back in the day, the grounds are large and you can see glimpses of it's past beauty. Its the traditional Balinese style of resort which I like.
The bad bits; It just felt like the little touches you expect in Bali weren't there. The staff were often on their phone and not on top of things including guests services. The pool always had empty beer bottles and old plates around and not cleared with any urgency. Towels were not always available at the pool with no rush to refill. Dirty ashtrays at pool and reception areas.
Our room was OK but little things made me feel sick like stains on the pillowcases (pool towels were also stained) and cigarette butts and dozens of old internet passwords thrown in the garden next to our balcony and never cleaned.
Its like they need a manager to walk around and make sure these little things are done. Ive stayed at dozens of places in Bali even very very cheap ones and these are the kinds of things that are normally taken care of. I just got the feeling the staff were not interested in offering anything exceptional, its was all the bare minimum. Its a pity because with just a little love and care this place could be great value for money.

Stayed for 13 days and absolutely loved it. Had a large studio room that as clean and very comfortable. The Melasti is in an excellent location, close to great eateries and right on the beach. The staff were extremely friendly, and helped whenever anything was asked. The security is phenomenal, we felt so safe. The 3 pools are huge, 2 with swim up bars. Highly recommend anyone stay there with a mid range budget.

Great to return to the Melasti after a few years away due to covid. Staff and service were great as always, particularly Merta and Artha. Found once the place got really busy for the week between Xmas and new year the service dropped significantly having to chase up something as simple as towels for our rooms a few days in a row. You can see they are trying to improve amenities and surveyors were on site whilst we were there. Rooms are quite tired now and need work

Had to stay an extra night after flight cancelation. Room noisy on the street, not all the lights worked, toilet mouldy and shower, taps falling off wall, only 1 power point working and staff trying to get into my room at 8:30 am and didn’t even knock! Luckily I had the latch across. Won’t bother staying here again.

Hi - in which case maybe look at somewhere else...! But the only other advice here is even with cash - keep the receipts from the money exchange places so you can prove to your travel insurance company you actually had the cash in the event of something like this happening.
