Located in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia, Paterson Lodge was originally the Paterson Branch of the Commercial Banking Co. of Sydney. The elegant building has changed very little as we have aimed to keep its beauty, charm and historical elements, yet maintaining a warm welcoming and comfortable feel. The simply exquisite interior of the renovated CBC is heaven for anyone passionate about Australia's history.

What a gem of a place to stay!!! This historic building is beautiful and the attention to detail was like stepping back in time. The hosts Kevin and Moira were warm and welcoming. They had a great sense of humour and took the time to stop and chat with all the guests. The mornings were a treat, as the breakfast was fantastic! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We had a group of 5 women on a weekend to catch up and chill out. This place was perfect to sit outside in the back courtyard, have a glass of bubbles on the balcony and listen to music and play cards in the parlour (bar) room. It was a 3 minute walk to the Paterson Tavern for dinner at night. Highly recommend staying here!

We stayed in the Bordello... what an amazingly warm welcome and unique room! A spa bath ready to jump in, a bottle of champagne to enjoy and a wood fire lit for us by the host. A-la-carte breakfast included, with eggs Benedict, fluffy pancakes and cappuccino on the menu... amongst other options. A great escape from the madness, you made us forget all about work and other stresses. And what a cute (but quiet) village is Paterson. Thank you for a fabulous weekend away, Ian and Moira!

Room Tip: The bordello was amazing as it had a spa and fire place. Other rooms just have the fire place.

A beautifully restored old building with interesting history located in the old bank vault. We stayed in the main bedroom for 2 nights to attend a wedding at Tocal. Kevin provided a ‘bus service’ to the venue which was great as it’s fairly isolated. Our room was clean, comfy, air conditioned with a balcony to relax on. Breakfast had great choices and was delicious. We really appreciated the consideration of them turning our aircon on when we came back from the wedding on a cold night. ( yes it is on a busy traffic corner, but it settles at night, and you do hear the odd train - but everything else way overrides those slight issues) Thoroughly recommended this lovely place to stay with friendly, happy service from Kevin and Moira.

Best place I've ever stayed. The proprietor was funny, kind and incredibly accommodating. The rooms are beautiful, the breakfast is delicious, and she offered us sandwiches, scones and drinks late at night when we mentioned we were hungry after a wedding. She even drove 12 of us to and from the wedding and offered winery recommendations. Feels like staying at home. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who wants a relaxed boutique hotel experience in the countryside.

What a find, with both the gorgeous town of Paterson, and the lovely, historic Paterson Lodge. My husband and I were on a "business" trip from WA so stayed 4 nights in this grand old, but beautifully restored building. Our hosts made us feel incredibly welcome; even inviting us to join their family group at the Christmas Carol's Night, and offering to pack an early breakfast when we had to leave early one day for a meeting. They were both up for a chat, as were we, but never intrusive. They were just lovely, warm people.
The rooms were gorgeous: spacious, very clean, well appointed, and each had, what appeared to be, functional fire places. All rooms had their private ensuite and an air conditioner.... much needed in the first couple of days when one temperature peaked at 39 degrees. Our bathroom was clean, bright and cheery.... well renovated.
A wide, upstairs balcony, providing different perspectives of the town, from scenic paddocks to the local shops, was one of our favourite places to sit late afternoon after work, and enjoy a revitalising G&T (a few actually). Despite The Lodge having 6 bedrooms, with other guests initially staying there (we were the last to leave before the Christmas break), the place felt very homely and we had access to all areas, other than rooms already booked, obviously. Our hosts were very happy for us to enjoy the property, and it's vantage point overlooking the town's activity.
The cafe was a lovely place to be, and we enjoyed both the Full and Continental breakfasts during our stay. Take your appetite! Locals seemed to like the cafe as a meeting place from Friday to Sunday, inclusive, as well.
If we return to this part of the country, we will definitely try and stay here again. I was very sad to leave this lovely, historic building, its delightful owners and this extremely friendly town.

I honestly didn’t expect much. Travelling the backwaters of any place can be hit and miss, but this was honestly a very welcome delight. An old converted bank building, the rooms are large, clean, packed with everything you’d expect from an expensive hotel room, and all for just over half the price of some places down the road. The owners were so hospitable, extremely accomodating and just lovely. It’s winter and I went down to breakfast and sat by a roaring open fire. I’d come here again just as the destination next time.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a lovely weekend staying at CBC in Paterson. The building is historic and has lots of character while the decor is tasteful and contemporary. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. We had a relaxing breakfast in the garden and enjoyed the lovely district views from the verandah. I will definitely go again.

Beautiful historical building in Paterson, originally a bank and then renovated into a charming B&B. It is conveniently located, with fantastic views over the the neighbouring farmlands. The owners and staff are lovely and they have well appointed rooms that felt fresh and clean. Breakfast was delicious with generous portions. Would recommend.

We had a beautiful stay at Paterson Lodge. The owners couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable. It was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept on in a motel. Great hot shower.Their hospitality was exceptional. Highly recommended.

The rooms were beautiful ( especially the ornate tin ceilings) and the breakfast amazing . We booked 4 rooms. We all appreciated the view from the balcony, both night and day.
My elderly aunt and uncle managed the stairs well with the aid of the solid banisters.
Thankyou.
