We camped unpowered in our Jayco Swan with our three teenage children. Great spot! We spent our time camp cooking, exploring and relaxing. We drove the coastal drive which was interesting to go through the Shearer’s quarters and cook up sausages from the other side of the river. We loved sitting on the banks of the river watching the flocks of birds. We also enjoyed the Riverside walk and completed it twice with our children. We were even lucky enough to spy an echidna! And of course the hot springs were great- beautiful way to wake up or wind down at the end of the day. In terms of facilities- they were good. The camp kitchen was more than adequate. We travelled during school holidays and never waited for a shower or toilet- water was always hot! We will be back.

This camp/caravan retreat is rustic and appealing in its simplicity. The sites are situated alongside a long stretch of a dry riverbed (the river runs underground) under large gum trees. Five reservoirs of hot spring water is pumped from the underground river for guests to languish in whilst relacing or chatting to other guests. There are drives (with routes supplied by the office) for guests wishing to explore the rural station. A short walk to the old farm rubbish tip is worthwhile where old machinery and household paraphernalia from bygone areas can be seen. The ablutions add to the rustic charm and character of the place emphasising the outback of Australia. There are cabins and glamping tents available and tour buses do base themselves here for overnight stop overs. Twice weekly there is a dinner served under the stars – a unique experience for the cost of $25pp. Dinner consisted of pulled pork, macaroni cheese, coleslaw, a corn cob and condiments. Guests take their own drinks, crockery and cutlery and socialise with other guests whilst the farm staff cook the macaroni and corn at the dining site. The other food is brought from the homestead which is no mean feat when catering for over a hundred guests. The rustic eating site is transformed into a magical rural experience under the inky black skies studded with the brightest of stars. Suggest some trenches or humps to stop vehicles speeding through the area to reduce the dust.

We stayed here for two nights with our two small children in our caravan. We booked a riverside campsite which comes with your own fire pit (you can buy a bag of wood for $20 or bring your own in). When you arrive, you're told to pick any site with a "blue number" and off you go. I did find it unnerving the first time to pick our own site as I didn't know "what was good".... but we worked it out and found a fantastic spot near a perfect climbing tree and not to far from the toilet/showers.
It seems like a nice community feel here and everyone seems up for a chat as there are a lot of communal tables etc
The hot springs were the best part. They have four set up that they drain daily. It was a nice way to warm up in the morning and we took a few drinks up in the afternoon and had another soak. Don't wear anything light coloured in there as it will turn orange given the high mineral content of the water.
We loved winding down and sitting by the fire with the kids roasting marshmallows. The kids ran wild all day and were super tired by night - perfect!
The toilets and shower were clean. It's worth paying a few extra dollars to get a riverside campsite over the flats or grass.

The river side camping was really good as there was water in the river when we stayed. I wouldn’t recommend the dinner - very underwhelming as others have said - small soft beef taco with one spoon of soft coleslaw and one spoon of soft pasta. The “warm” showers were cold. $20 for firewood.

Stopped at Wooramel Riverside retreat for one night in September. The name itself is very deceiving as we thought it actually had a river run through it. Which it does, however it is an upside down river therefore it is dry most of the year round, so it’s nothing but dusty dirt where a river should be. Pretty disappointing because we had dogs and we’re hoping they could have a swim. We arrived early therefore found a pretty good spot to park up close to amenities which were satisfactory. The $30 a night charge was a bit excessive considering there’s no power or water. We’ve stayed at caravan parks cheaper than that with power and water. We stayed on a Monday night therefore were offered the $25 dinner. That was absolutely dismal. If you’re happy to pay $25 for one soft taco, with a small amount of shredded beef, with one scoop each of coleslaw and macaroni cheese, go for it. However we could’ve eaten at least three and left the dinner site hungry. Dinner was definitely not worth the money. We would’ve been better off buying gourmet cheeses and staying at the camp. To be honest the only plus side to this campsite is the artesian baths. However, that also is not guaranteed for a relaxing soak as while we were in there, a staff member came to clean one of the baths was talking on his phone, loud enough to be disruptive. And on top of all that, a family with young kids came and sat in the same bath being very loud. It would’ve been nice if they had signs up asking people to be respectful of other people in the baths, keep talking to a minimum and not treat it like it’s a swimming pool. So even though we would’ve liked more time in the baths it was nice to soak peacefully for at least half an hour. All in all it was an okay place to stay as we needed to stop however I would not make it my first choice again.

So left Wooramel Station today and headed to Denham. Wooramel was ok. But be warned. Even though we booked two sites about 12 months ago it was take ya pick. Some people had parked in multiple sites ruining the experience for me. If you want a site on the river arrive before 1400 hours. The artesian bath was nice. You do come out smelling rusty but we expected that. Showers were cool, only just warmer than than the cold water at 1700 hours. The river walk is great and I had fun and laughs on the way back saving the hoomans. Lots of bird life and magnificent scenery. If it was a bit more organised in relation to the sites it would get 4 llamas. Only 3 this time around.

We stayed at the Fourquarters accommodation, it was beautifully decorated ,clean and comfortable. We were with a large group and decided to do the tour of the property and were not impressed to be charged $10 per car to do this as we were only given a photocopy map of the tour. We also booked into the the dinner and thought the $25 per head cost was not worth the small amount we were given.

We arrived at the Station around 4:30pm on a Sunday afternoon, which was in time for the Sunday roast dinner. We were amazed at the setup and that live music was provided for guest entertainment. The station was quite popular and had lots of caravans and RV's parked around the riverside. We had booked one of the family units for our group of four adults and was pleased to discover that the unit had two bathrooms and toilets. We enjoyed our roast dinner (extra cost) and listening to the music afterwards. The next morning, we went for a walk across the riverbed and took some photos before checking out. We didn't use the hot tubs, but they did look enticing.

Friendly staff to greet you at reception, full explanation of all facilities. Invited to buy a ticket for $25 for the communal dinner that is on 2 nights a week . This was great with plenty to eat , staff checking in and we had the opportunity to meet other campers. Expect no power and and basic showering, camper kitchen and lots of red dirt. Take time to discover the property , there is a great old shearing station, 4WD tracks , an old tip full of weird and wonderful things , also take a dip in the warm Artesian baths. If your not into that just laze around and enjoy the tranquility. Different areas to camp , we were on the front grass area , that is close to everything but there are river bank sites and chalets available also. A nice surprise package.

We arrived late in the afternoon and the campsite was already full - we were told that there was a huge queue to get in by lunchtime. The staff we not not particularly friendly but directed us to the 'overflow area' which was actually pretty good and close to the amenities. All sites are unpowered, and there is a restriction on water, but the hot tubs fed by natural springs were really lovely, and we enjoyed our overnight there.
