This resort is defiantly dated but we found it to be cozy and relaxing. Our unit, 510 did have a flat screen TV in the living room but no TV in the bedrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed and the lobby provided us with wood, matched and a fire starter for the wood stove. Our unit had a Whirlpool in the bedroom. It was rather large which was nice but we had to fill it half way, wait for the hot water tank to fill and then fill the rest. It was an inconvenient but it wasn't that hard to work around. We went to the Mountain View Bistro for all you can eat crab legs on Thursday night. We found the soup underwhelming but the crab legs we amazing and so was the service. You cant beat AYCE for $35. We went during the winter months and still found lot of things to get into. I really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to people who like the outdoors.

Staying at Fontana Resort Village in February was very relaxing. Since it is off season, the resort is very quiet. Our unit was well supplied with kitchen items and we enjoyed the wood burning fire place. Although it is an older resort, the location provides an ideal place for hiking in the GSMNP.

The resort property is beautiful, quiet and remote. Pretty far from any eateries except for the wildwood grill on site, but not a big deal if you plan on being out and about anyway. I was with two friends on motorcycles so parking was great for us. We had a minor parking emergency with my truck and trailer getting stuck, but the onsite staff was great helping us out. Many Many thanks to those guys.

The cabin is adequate for three dudes, but if your lady, like mine, wants a bit of luxury, this ain't it. Bring your own breakfast stuff, they have a small kitchenette that works great for light meals. If you like coffee.. bring it, and your own coffee filters. the resort doesn't supply them and I don't know if they are available in the general store. Matter of fact, I have no idea what's in the general store because due to a series of misfortunes we had to cut our adventure short. I would return for another adventure, just because the area is so beautiful.

we had a great four night stay. We got a 1-bedroom cabin for the price of a hotel room. Great amenities, including free mini golf and an excellent 18-hole disc golf course. Very good on site restaurant with reasonable prices. Only issue was wifi and cell reception was only available at the the lodge and restaurant.

We stayed in a 2br/2ba cabin. The mountain area is beautiful, but as for the resort, 99% of the resort is stuck in 1970. The place is very outdated and smells musty. There were large tears in the cabin floor kitchen that needs replacing. The small stove and stove vent hood in the kitchen was old, very rusty, and just gross. The "tile" in the kitchen was the cheap stick-on kind and was peeling off. Several of the light bulbs in the cabin were blown and several plug-ins didn't work. We found rat droppings on the sleeper sofa and on the back of the couch. Most cabins have no grill or firepit (there are only one or two on the entire grounds). When we first entered the cabin to start our time there, we saw that we were left with less than half a roll of toilet paper and paper towels.
The place is a ghost town. There is pretty much no cell service and no wifi (extremely spotty in the very few places you do get it). The only things to do in the immediate area are Fontana Dam/Lake, trail hiking, and eating at the Wildwood Grill (on resort property).
Bottom line, the lodge check-in area is pretty and has been updated, but the rest of the cabins, outbuildings, and grounds need severe updating and cleaning.
I am all about nature with peace and quiet, but this place needs some updating. We have no plans on ever going back here. Very disappointed! The only positive about this trip was that the surrounding mountain area is beautiful.
TIP: Bring some food with you. Other than the Wildwood Grill, the closest restaurant or grocery store is 20+ miles away. The General Store at the resort is currently closed.

This place is a complete dump! Do NOT expect a pretty, secluded, rustic cabin! What you will get is an extremely run-down, poorly designed cluster of ugly buildings that feels like a crowded housing development where all the houses are covered with the same terrible green siding. The grounds were littered with trash. The first thing we noticed upon entering our "cabin" was the smell of wood smoke combined with mildew. All of the furnishings were old and worn-looking, including the disgusting floral bedspreads, making me unable to sit on any of the furniture without covering it with a sheet I had brought with me. The "fully equiped" kitchen had dishes, silverware and a couple of pans. No cutting knives, no mixing bowls, no salt and pepper, ETC. While I did not see bugs, it was definitely not clean. The corners of the floors, the refrigerator, and the dishes were all disgusting. The final blow came when the smell of SEWAGE started emanating from our whirlpool bathtub, which was also the shower, but which you couldn't use anyway, because we ran out of hot water before any of us could even finish a decent shower. All in all, this is the WORST place I have EVER stayed in my extensive travels. The mountains, however, are indeed beautiful, and some of the trails on the property are nice.

While the "resort" had lots of activities and the lodge rooms may be nice, the 2 BR Hemlock cabin we stayed in was pretty bad. The filter for the HVAC unit was so dirty it was not allowing good air flow - when we took it out it worked much better. There was hair on the walls and the kitchen faucet and bathroom fixtures were literally falling apart. We can deal with old and dated, but not unclean.

This is an older but clean, well-run resort that takes wonderful care of its guests. The resort is in the middle of the Great Smoky Mountains and has beautiful rustic buildings for the lodge, restaurant, and activity areas. We were very happy with our cabin. Although many of the amenities were still closed due to COVID, there was still more than enough to do to keep us busy. The activities director, Ann, did an excellent job. She organized guided hikes every day - and this is a hiker's paradise! We are in our 70's but the hikes she organized were on a level we could keep up with easily. A guided walk in the woods is so much better than wandering on your own! Every evening she had a different speaker visit to talk on a variety of subjects interesting for everyone, including the migration of the Monarch Butterfly to photographing the night sky. She put together a wonderful final evening gathered around the fire pit to talk, toast marshmallows, and listen to a bit of banjo and singing. All of the activities were done safely with social distancing and masks when appropriate. The food we had at the restaurant was delicious. There was a free charging station for our Tesla to charge as well, which was much appreciated in the wilderness! A great resort - I was sad to leave!

While we were told over the phone that the unit we were staying in had both cell service and internet (wifi) access once we arrived we found out different. We should have believed all of the reviews. There is zero cell service and the wifi is limited and connection drops happen frequently.

The unit was in need of major repairs/upkeep. There was no king bed, only a queen in both bedrooms, the Master Bath had a 4" hole in the wall next to the bathtub, the toilet would not shut off, the guest bathroom sliding shower door was off the guide and if you put it back on then you couldn't open it due to the roller bolts being too long. The fireplace liner had a 12" hole in it so it wasn't safe to use. The kitchen was missing several feet of baseboard and you could see all of the debris that had ended up under the kitchen sink so it had been this way for some time. The overall cleanliness of the unit was in question considering the cobwebs in the ceiling corners and under the kitchen cabinets. The exterior of the unit was in desperate need of maintenance considering the wood was rotten in numerous places.

The grounds were in dire need of maintenance and the debris and needed maintenance wasn't just from one winter. This resort could be a nice place to vacation but unfortunately the money hasn't been put back in it to keep it up to the standards one would expect.

First there was a power outage from Wednesday to Saturday night. So, the cabin I rented had no hot water, no fridge working, no A/C and no lights ...... upon asking for a potential price break, it was refused.
The cabin was a poorly designed dump where I couldn't lock the front door from the inside but had to walk outside to lock it with a key, then return inside through another door. Hello ! Who is the genius who came up with that brilliant design ?
The bathroom was another wonder: both the bathtub and the sink had open drains so I could not fill up either one. Meanwhile, there was no shower curtain so I couldn't really take a shower.
Also, the place could easily accommodate 4 people (2 couples) as it has a queen size bed in the bedroom, but a standard couch in the living room. A sofa bed would make much more sense !
To add further to the ignominy, the place was crawling with large bugs. I smashed 4 or 5 of them.
So in conclusion I felt totally ripped off and would not recommend at all !
