We ended a short trip to the Garden route with two nights at Milkwood Manor on Sea and couldn't have made a better choice. We were upgraded to a ground floor room with a view of the beach (and lagoon) and felt thoroughly spoiled. The rooms are beautifully furnished and have everything you need and the breakfast was really delicious. We could walk onto Lookout Beach and just chill for the day. Position, position, position!

The hotel is nice, the breakfast was good. Rooms were clean. We were really able to rest in our air conditioned rooms. The only thing that really bothered us was that tv had only 13 channels (i missed the match i wanted to see) and the wifi was terrible. Supposedly the wifi was not working because of outages but at no time the room wifi worked. As a Chilean couple on holidays we really need to use wifi for doing stuff online. The living room wifi worked fine in the morning and i was able to do some stuff there but fixing the wifi for all the rooms is not that hard. Keep improving guys, you have a nice spot that needs some little upgrades.

We booked an upstairs sea view room, and had windows on two sides with beautiful views of the beach and lagoon. The room was absolutely spotlessly clean and had a safe. The beach is a minute's walk through the (secure) car park and the receptionist was able to provide beach towels and bags for us to use. There was a lifeguard on the beach which was helpful. They don't seem to offer kayaks any more which is a shame but actually it was a bit windy while we were there anyway. The door was a wee bit thin so we did hear some noise as other guests checked in and came up the stairs. Breakfast very yummy indeed.

To end our trip of the Wild coast and Eastern Cape we booked at Milkwood Manor on Sea thinking we were going to end our wonderful trip on a "high" with lovely accommodation and a friendly atmosphere! Not to be.... having booked the budget accommodation which for 2 nights looked very comfortable, we arrived in the afternoon and were shown to our rooms, ours was on the ground floor "Budget inland twin room" it was small and had a window which could not open much due to being double glazed. Our friends were upgraded from the budget room upstairs to a ground floor room to be next to us which was light and airy with 2 large windows. We asked if the guest house was full and were told it was, we only saw one other couple the entire time we were there (there are 12 rooms) it was extremely quiet for being full and no cars in the car park! Having owned and run my own guest house for 10 years I would have offered my guests an upgrade! We were given keys for the gate with 4 buttons on and not shown what button was for what, our friends nearly had the gate shut on their car! We were not shown the dinning room or any of the facilities this guest house had to offer. There was red tape over the furniture in the entrance indicating social distancing which I understand but it depicted an unwelcome atmosphere. We saw the owners once who did not make any effort to greet us. The Lemon Grass restaurant was closed. Better trained staff at reception would have certainly improved our stay.

Dear Pippa Thank you for staying at the Milkwood Manor, we would like to take this opportunity to correct a few misunderstandings. Both couples booked "Budget inland facing twin rooms", which offers you one of our beautifully decorated standard rooms but with out a balcony and no Seaview, also there is a huge price difference of R1300 between a Seaview room and a budget inland room. Your friends was not upgraded they were offered a room by the receptionist, next to yours in the same price category , only because the second room was upstairs and far away from each other, both couples agreed that it will be to be placed on the same floor, since you are traveling together. As for your request for an upgrade, we could not honour your request as we could not inconvenience the other guests that still had to check in, as it was made months in advance and they knew exactly what they booked and paid for, as a fellow guesthouse owner, i think you would understand that. Upon check in each guests get shown the breakfast area, and all keys are explained, and yes your right the restaurant was closed its only operational from December, I hope this clears up all your major issues and you will make use of our guesthouse again in the future, Please make sure to book a SEAVIEW room next time :-)

We chose Milkwood for its location and we were not disappointed, it is literally ON the beach. Rooms were comfy and airy with great views and the breakfasts were good. Staff were great and Beverly kindly booked us restaurants for each night we were there (which were all excellent) and arranged a taxi to take us there and back.
It's great to be able to walk out the door and down the beach or lie on the comfortable sun deck with the lagoon waters lapping underneath. Plettenberg itself is an interesting little town with a good range of shops and things to do. One thing to be aware of is that, because it's on the beach pretty much everything is a steep climb away unless you drive or take taxis.

Really good. We had 3 nights and ate in their Lemon Grass restaurant twice. That’s fantastic so make sure you use it other than for just breakfast
Pay the extra for an upstairs room with balcony. Worth every penny
My only slight gripe is bed is a little small compared to others we’ve had in SA but a) don’t let it put you off b) ask for twins and c) it’s very comfy!
Other than that all bang on. Great staff. Hearty breakfasts. Spotlessly clean. Secure. Top location. A young fella washes the cars every morning too which is above and beyond
Well appointed rooms and bathrooms. Kettle. Safe. TV. A/C. All bases are covered
Don’t miss this place if passing through Plett. It’s tremendous

On arrival into Plettenburg bay we spotted the Milkwood manor from Whale point, in one if the most stunning locations i have seen. Looking almost marooned between the ocean & lagoon its yellow castle like exterior stands out. So to find a room was available at short notice was a great surprise. The hotel is stunning obviously lovingly restored. There is a electric gated parking area outside the front entrance. The Room was spacious comfy with power shower in a modern ensuite. Staff were friendly & attentive. Breakfast was fantastic both cooked & continental offered, served on the terrace overlooking the lagoon. One of the best hotels I have stayed in & definitely the most stunning location. Will be the first stop on our return.

Beachfront Hotel- Location Location Location!! The selling point of this Hotel was definitely its location, at the end of a small road down to the beach at Plett, and the last building before you reach the sand! We walked across the sand for afternoon drinks at one of the beach bars to watch the sun set over the surf, and then just across the sand again to the other beach bar for dinner with an ocean view. Our room was tastefully decorated with a nautical feel, extremely clean and a view of the beach and the bay from our room. The bathroom had a large shower and was really clean with all the extra cosmetic supplies you may need. Breakfast included fruit, cereals and yoghurt, with toast and a choice of cooked meals as well. The staff were attentive and friendly, and our hire car was even washed by staff in the morning! Whilst we didn’t go up to the main town, it could be walked - but would be all uphill!

We concluded our two week long road trip through the country in this lovely little town, in this beautiful hotel. The staff were always friendly and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. The rooms have a luxurious and sophisticated feel (thanks to things like the double glazed windows and doors) and are extremely comfortable. We would love to come back one day!
