What a friendly bunch of people at Leopard Rock Coffee Shop ! Great views from the restaurant verandah of Oribi Gorge, and definitely the best lemon meringue I have ever tasted in South Africa. Worth the trip on its own. Will be back again to try their lunch menu as I am sure it is just as good.

We had a MOST ENJOYABLE lunch at Leopard Rock Coffee Shop.(As always) even after this busy silly season one can expect the staff to be exhausted. As always we were welcomed as if it was our first visit. Cleanliness, service, food, every thing absolute perfect!! Thanks Andries Sue and the team, waiters, all-including gardeners, kitchen staff, cleaners. You are brilliant and I am always exited to visit your restaurant.

Firstly one comes here for the views of the Oribi Gorge which are amazing. Apart from that the restaurant has good food and service. The staff are very friendly and efficient. And if you want to buy curios there is a large selection. After the meal a visit to the Boulder Outlook is a must provided that you don't suffer fro vertigo.

The surrounding area and view is beautiful, you can see the Umtimtwini River pass through the Gorge. The food is not so great quiet ordinary, nothing special about it. The service is okay just the food comes way too fast makes you question why it so early. I had a steak burger and j could smell and taste that the steak was off. The lady who owns the place does not treat her kitchen staff accordingly, I sense a bit of rasicim,(the fact that only white people can work there as waiters makes me question the place. I would not recommend this place, you are better of at Lake Eland or other coffee shops in the area, or you could just go for a photo on the Rock then leave.

Beautiful view. Kitchen was closed when we arrived at 3pm. Had a drink in a group of 3 when the bill arrived they already added a 10% gratuity. When questioned the older lady was quite arrogant stating it is their prerogative. Didn’t go down well with my friends.

Well. The restaurant and lodge are great locations. The restaurant has fantastic views of the gorge. I didnt visit them for both of these. I visited them for the Overhanging Rock which has great photo ops. You have to pay an entry fee of 10 Rands.
I do agree with some other reviewers that there is a tinge of racism in the lady who talked to me.
I asked her for the path to the lookout, she said its 10 Rands. I asked how to go there, she said you have to first pay me 10 Rands and then I will tell you. I wonder if she would have used the same tonality if I was not an Indian. She was very terse too.
A bad experinece in dealing with people I must say.
The lookout place is great for pics. Be careful to not slip over into the valley. Its steep and dangerous, hence extreme caution is advised.

I spent my anniversary weekend at Leopard Rock Chalets. We arrived on Friday and departed on Sunday. We were received with a very poor attitude. Upon calling our hosts to inform them that we’d arrived at the gate, we hear “at this part of the night” with irritation in his voice, and there was no introduction. No check-in time had been communicated with me upon making the booking + I had emailed the hosts earlier in the day to inform them of my arrival at 8:00-8:30PM. So it was a sour start to our weekend. Apart from this, the views from the accommodation are unmatched and breathtaking. The chalet was comfortable and the breakfast was tasty. A heads up that this district does experience load shedding but there is a light in the chalet that stays on - check in with hosts for the load shedding schedule.

Due to finger trouble I removed my original post I have stolen the official description because it is so very true. This was our second stay and if anything it surpassed our stay last year. The honeymoon chalet is brilliant, spotlessly clean and everything you could wish for and would need. Complimentary bubbly wine, jacuzzi, outside shower, view to die for, The hosts are warm and welcoming and go out of their way to make sure their guests are happy. It is a self catering unit but food can be oredered and sent to the chalet for heating later. EVERYTHING is provided. Four different kinds of coffee, two teas, condiments and and and. My one regret is that we only discovered it in the last few years when we started driving down for lunch. We spent our 43rd wedding anniversary there, now our 44th and looking forward to our 45th (If not a visit sooner)

I could not find fault with anything. And that is high praise indeed. The view from anywhere in the chalet is spectacular. Sunset was breathtaking. The kitchen has all you need including salad dressing, milk, milo as well as a chilled bottle of bubbly. There is also a decanter of sherry to warm you if the evening is chilly. Attention has been paid to every detail of the furnishings. The bed and pillows are comfortable and there is a corner spa bath as well as an outdoor shower. The chalet is spacious and has a private balcony as well. Breakfast is delicious, not buffet style. You order off the menu and staff are very accommodating with requests. For those who enjoy birdwatching, bird feeders and bird baths are scattered all over attracting a variety of birdlife. There are also some aviaries on the property. The owners, Sue and Andries are on hand and offer information and activities in the area. They have a recipe for success in this beautiful spot they call their 'piece of heaven'.
