It is so good to see a military building so openly accessible and not being hidden by barriers or fences. The whole area feels imposing yet welcoming and accessible.

The Oscar Niemeyer's architectural design and the landscaping by Burle Marx become dramatically beautiful with the city's blue sky background.
Perfect spot for a outdoor concert !
One of the surprises of Brasilia is the terrace of the Military Barracks . There you can find a beautiful square. Brasilia is really spectacular.
It used to be that you could access the dias and pretend to address the assembled masses of Companheiros. The caustics are absolutely fantastic allowing one to address the assembled multitudes in the tens of thousands without te need for electronic amplification. Now you see the site it all its majesty but don't get to address anyone :-) as it is infrequently visited. When I have a friend who is new to Brasilia I always take them there, the oblesque and the sweeping scabbard that are such a powerful military symbol. Get up on the platform take a coin from your pocket and drop it on the floor. the resulting reverberation is great fun!
Then go to the ironically named Mary queen of peace chapel for more Neimyer magic. Continue down the eixo monumental to Radio tower , the cathedral and the praça de três poderes and the Tiradentes memorial... no tourist trip to Basilia is complete without this rota.
I recommend to visit Quartel General do Exercito. In front of this building there is a very street which some time in the independence day is use to demonstration.
That's definetely An. Impressivo building. Another master piece of Oscar Niemeyer. from time to time, there are presentions in the auditorium. I had the opportunity to see Clube do Choro! Lovely!
