Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the spa to head to if you are looking for a tranquil retreat. The bed was comfortable with extra pillows and spare blanket in the closet. Our room was cozy and spacious with a small kitchenette and bistro seating along with two chaise lounges. Many personal touches to make our stay idyllic, such as a small table top fan, a make-up towel, motion activated shower light, soft thematic music in the pool area, wine opener in room, fresh mint/lemonade and French press coffee 24 hours a day. Tons of attention to detail in the room decor such as a brass monkey lamp finial and tiny hand door knocker. Lets not forget the plush complimentary robes to wander from room to spa 24 hours a day, yes the pool and spa never close! I counted 39 chairs/loungers/daybeds around the pool, no one will ever need to head to the pool early to grab a chair. Plus the lovely garden area with another dozen or two seats including a huge day bed and three shady hammocks! The hot mineral water spa is in a covered room and both the pool and spa were clean and well maintained. Guest have access to a cozy firepit by the pool too. The Morocco Inn does a wonderful job of transporting you from a crazy hectic world into a garden of serenity. The host Robert was gracious, welcoming and capable. He answered my questions on the history of the inn and even went so far as to recommend preferred dinning options and outstanding spa treatments for future visits. He is definitely an asset to the El Morocco Inn and Spa!

I wish I could write about the quality of this hotel but I can only comment on the customer service. I accidentally booked two hotels for the same trip and did not realize it until I was within the non-cancellation period. I wanted to stay at the El Morocco Inn but the other hotel would not issue a refund for either of the two nights of the reservation. I called the El Morocco the day before I was scheduled to arrive. Florence, who I believe is the manager, gave me a full refund. That is great customer service which often seems difficult to find these days. It is most appreciated.

We very much enjoyed our stay and will certainly return. The Moroccan theme is carried throughout the resort in more ways than I can describe. The textiles, the poof pillows, the canopy beds, the furniture, the light fixtures, the dates and fruit available all day. We enjoyed the complementary happy hour drink each evening, a sip of sherry before bedtime on the house, long soaks in the hot tub, swimming in the pool, the included breakfast with many choices, access to hot coffee and tea all day, comfy bed, soft robes for transfers between pools and room, the movie Casablanca on a continuous loop, and ample seating in front of our room and around the resort property and pool to catch rays, read books, and just relax. The staff is helpful and friendly, and we enjoyed chatting with other guests as well. We would absolutely return to this hotel on our next trip to the desert valley. Strategically positioned not far from Joshua Tree National Park for good hiking nor very far from Palm Springs for shopping and entertainment, we had access to every place we wanted to go and see.

The El Morocco Inn and Spa has a nice website and appears to have good reviews, but don't believe what you see or read. This property is using the Moroccan theme to hide many, many, many sins. The multiple carpets strewn about the property hide the desperate need for the floors to be repaired. The yards of fabric hide the desperate need for repairs to the ceilings and the walls. The bathrooms are painted in a dark purple that makes the rooms so dark, and there are no lighting fixtures to compensate for it. If you need to shave your legs in the shower--good luck! We had to drag a lamp from the room into the bathroom and remove the shade to try to cast some light into the shower stall. The rooms I booked (3 of them) all had a smell to them that was hard to decipher. One wreaked of what smelled like cat urine. The Casablanca room, a public area for guests shows Casablanca on loop. This was fun and very entertaining, but the movie skips at a crucial point in the plot. You can't help but get dragged into the movie as it is the only room in the public guest area that shields you from the cold on those frigid desert nights. In this same room during the inclusive breakfast there was a smoke detector that beeped for over 2 hours before anyone did anything about it. If you opt to get a spa treatment while you are at the property one of the treatment rooms also wreaks of what smells like cat urine, and the massage tables used for our services (3 of them) all need to be replaced. The very large hot tub was slimy and had a funny smell beyond that of the mineral water. You could visibly see the silt at the bottom of the spa and there was a foam of gross dark bubbles lurking about it. The sauna had so many gaps in the doors that at most the room temperature was tepid. The location is not great either. It is in the middle of a neighborhood with mediocre dining in the local community. For a good meal you have to go to Palm Springs. Maybe in its inception this property was amazing, but now it is so tired, and in need of repair they should start over. It most definitely does not merit the star ratings it is getting nor the price it charges for its rooms.

I am writing this review while chilling by the pool at this precious hidden gem. This is my second time here and let me tell you we will be back again and again. This Moroccan style boutique hotel is quiet, secluded, has absolutely gorgeous premises with lots of cool hang out areas, nice size pool, the biggest jacuzzi I have ever seen, sauna and fantastic customer service.
Robert will make sure you feel welcomed and will accommodate all your needs.
Despite COVID-19 they have great breakfast selection, coffee, cold water and lemonade 24/7.
I think I should stop here because if I keep going this place be completely sold out next time I wanna visit lol

We had a great time visiting the El Morocco. Booking and check-in were both very easy. Our room was funky and awesome, the room and property looked like the pictures online so we were not at all disappointed. We really enjoyed the fact that the mineral pools and garden area were open for use 24/7, which meant we could indulge in midnight swims/soaks and lounge around outside of the extreme heat of the day. The property was clean and well laid out, it was also extremely QUIET and peaceful. We received spa services our second day and were very happy with our wraps and massages! The breakfast menus and personalized delivery was also really nice, and a great way to give people a lot of choices with probably very little waste. 10/10 would visit again!

We were searching for a place to stay near Joshua Tree NP and were intrigued with them Desert Hot Springs area. A very helpful conversation with Robert of the El Morocco Inn led us to book there. We were delighted with the accommodations and the service we received. The hot springs at the hotel were very relaxing, the Moroccan decor in the room and throughout the property enhanced our stay and little touches such as excellent coffee on our room’s patio and available outdoor showers under the sun were unexpected features. Our room was comfortable and well-equipped; we were provided excellent personal service by Ozzie who gave us an extensive tour and helped us locate the right package for NCAA tournament games on the large screen TV.
I wish we lived closer so we could make the El Morocco a frequent destination to relax. We will certainly stay here the next time we are in the area!

We booked based on the photo on this site. We arrived late and they e-mailed us exact and simple instruction to get onto the property and into our room. We entered the property after sunset. We walked in a short hall that was absolutely charming. The hotel is set so there is an enclosed courtyard that all rooms open on to. The them was Moroccan and looked amazing. The room was decent size, charming and in perfect condition. The next morning we decided to pay a small extra fee for a late checkout so we could enjoy the pool, hot tub. My wife had a spa treatment that she enjoyed.

We are a 2 hour drive and will definitely take day trips to this lovely property.

I have to say that this was such an enchanting inn in the desert. I recommend a room on the second floor so you can view the desert mountains . Everything about this place transports you to Morocco from the lighting fixtures to the black and white movie Casablanca playing with subtitles. The room has mood lighting to create a warm ambience and so smart to have electrical outlet jacks on each night stand to charge phones and devices. The microwave, fridge are such nice amenities to have available. I loved my living area with a moroccan round brass coffee table to relax and enjoy the mint lemonade that the inn provides guests. The other amazing thing is that the hot water for shower and sink is fed by the hot springs and the heat is immediate. I loved the compimentary breakfast with bagel , fresh avocado and grapefruit with french press coffee and pineapple juice all poolside . Phil and Debbie just care for the guests like family. Their hospitality shines as bright as the desert sun. I will return as this is a special place

Meh.

The description on here must be pretty out of date. There is no complimentary cocktail, just some very watered down mint lemonade. The “lavish” continental breakfast is a to-go bag that likely will not have all that you ordered.

The spa is frankly dirty and not maintained. There is a bunch of gravel on the bottom that came from who knows where. It just needs to be sucked out, but cleaning doesn’t seem to be part of the routine. The walls of the spa are green with algae.

The pillows died a few years ago.

I think this used to be a nice place, but has really been let go. It needs a good cleaning and some basic repairs and upkeep.

I’m afraid this will be a “one and done” trip for us. We’ve stayed in several places here. This was our least favorite of the bunch.

Also, my massage therapist was just not very talented. She also seemed overly worried about getting into any taboo landscape, to the point that a 90-minute massage only covered 50% of my body. I will say that my wife was happy with her therapist.

Best advice: skip it and try somewhere else.

I did not see any children when we go, so I don't think so. You would have to call and ask. These type of SPA Inns are designed more with adults in mind.
