Attended the Wedding of My Best Friend here last Tuesday and all I can say is OUTSTANDING!

When the Happy Couple told me they were getting married here I was delighted for them, but skeptical about the venue, as I had been here 2 years earlier for my cousins wedding and the venue was a complete letdown.

NOT THIS TIME!

From the moment I arrived and was greeted by Aine in reception who was so helpful in getting checked in. The Room itself, the Noble Suite, was stunning; massive King bed, amazing bathroom, and the shower, I didn't want to get out!

The Wedding itself was fabulous, set upstairs above the ballroom, lovely ceremony and completely adhering to Covid Social Distancing. Pre Dinner drinks was great, shoutout to Jonathon who kept everything running in the house throughout the day. And then to the wedding meal, now this was where the serious let down happened 2 years ago. The food was incredible this time round. First up, Grilled Pork Belly which was like slicing threw butter, delicious! The Tomato soup was lovely, (bit spicy for some guests). The Main course of Fillet Of Irish Beef was just melt in your mouth and as if that wasn't enough, Creme Brulee to finish off a meal that would rival anything you would get served in a Michelin Starred Restaurant!

A great night, magnificent food, superb hospitality, you might wonder Why only 4/5? Guys the only reason this isn't top marks was because of the Heat in the Rooms overnight. The Next morning at breakfast the only criticism that all 25 guests were talking about was how warm the rooms were overnight, and that the Air Con Panels in the rooms didn't work.

Having said all that, I'm completely turned around and blown away by the change from 2 years ago. Ballymagarvey rivals any of the best Venues in the country and I will be recommending it to my many friends who are recently engaged!

We attended a wedding here recently. The staff are top notch - from the welcome on arrival with helpful directions, the friendly reception, the absolutely brilliant wait staff, I can’t praise them enough. It’s disappointing to read the few negative reviews here as that was not our experience. Yes the rooms are small with no tv etc and the walls a bit thin. But does it really matter when you are at the wedding with friends til the small hours enjoying the venue? We slept very well in our room and it was perfect for our needs. The wedding dinner was fantastic with excellent and speedy service throughout. We loved the breakfast atmosphere and the warmth and friendliness of the kitchen staff. Every small detail was taken care of. It was a wet evening and there were ample umbrellas left for guests at every location around the venue. Our friends who got married couldn’t have picked a better place to do it in our view. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer to walk around the grounds etc which are truly beautiful, as well as the reception rooms in the manor which are gorgeous. We had a brilliant time so thanks again to all the staff who truly made our time there exceptional.

Attended Ballymagarvey for a family wedding at the weekend. To be honest, we had serious concerns about staying here after reading some of the reviews of accommodation posted here. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised and relieved when we saw our room in the schoolhouse. Not even the bad weather could take from this review, after recovering from the initial disappointment of getting wet feet walking from the reception area to our rooms over the uneven paving around the courtyard. The manor house was fabulous and such a relaxing reception area with all the different rooms to explore. The food was perfect as was the service. The decor throughout the place, inside and outside was magical. It would be hard to top this as a wedding venue. Rooms were perfect, we didn’t need a tv or kettle and didn’t expect a hotel style room and that’s what we got. Good size that fit a roll out bed and travel cot. One slight recommendation might be a bigger mat inside the bedroom door as you walk straight in off the courtyard to the room, dragging the wet with you. Breakfast in the manor house was served in big round tables perfect to meet and chat the following morning. Nice selection of pastries. Fry was ok. More variety with maybe pancakes or French toast would be a nice addition but perfectly acceptable the way it was. Some reviews mentioned the price of room but to be honest you are paying for the exclusivity and the whole experience which was thoroughly enjoyable from beginning to end!

Superb venue for a wedding with the most attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble, from our arrival at 10am to the early hours of the morning. The entire venue is maintained to the highest standard and has everything you could possibly want. Even in the middle of the night guests may go to the kitchen in the main house to make themselves tea.

Was at my brothers wedding here yesterday and I have to say it was absolutely brilliant the venue is stunning the pictures don’t do it justice at all. The grounds are beautiful they have gorgeous lights outside with music playing all evening and fires lighting have never been in a place like it. All the staff are fantastic couldn’t do enough for everyone throughout the whole day I had a problem with a booking I had made and the receptionist helped me sort it without hesitation I think her name was Aine a blonde haired lady she was so nice about it .we were lucky to get one of the rooms in Lisa’s secret garden it had a kitchen in it the room was spacious warm spotless and beautifully decorated with a comfy bed . The food was beautiful and presented really well it is like something from a fairytale Could not rate this place highly enough absolutely fantastic can’t wait to hopefully attend a wedding here again. Thank you so much to everyone from Ballymagarvey village for a wonderful day

I attended a wedding here earlier this week…beautiful venue for a wedding but the accommodation left a lot to be desired. I was in the twin room in the school house…had difficulty with the front door, the room was boiling upon arrival and there was actually no window in the room for ventilation. No TV, no soundproofing, minimum products in the bathroom (hardly enough for one person yet alone two) and the cheapest loo roll I have ever seen in a hotel claiming to be luxurious! The staff were all great but the cost of €190 for the night was just too expensive for the very basic facilities provided.

Recently stayed here for a wedding. €190 for a box room with no kettle or television. It was a wet day as expected but as we went for a quick visit to the room it was flooded! We had complained to the manager on duty and he gave a response as if was sick of hearing this complaint. Did not care that the room was flooded. His attitude was appalling! The next morning we went down for breakfast and ordered a full Irish fry that was anything but “full”! Breakfast was not cooked fresh but rather held in a hot tray that was the same of that you would get from a deli in the nearest shop. Scrambled egg took at least 20 minutes to cook. The meal for the wedding dinner cannot be faulted nor the venue for the wedding. They got their money and that’s all that matters!

I attended a wedding reception in January 2020.
The location, wedding reception and staff were fantastic and the occasion was memorable.
However, the breakfast on the following was probably one of the worst experiences I have had at a hotel.
The staff were rude, disorganised, lazy, the food was very very average when it was finally served.
They ran out of some very basic items half way through breakfast.
There was no one in charge and the staff were at complete variance with those had had served us so professionally the evening before.
Not a pleasant experience and would definitely not stay there again.
At €190 for two people it is grossly over priced.

As a lot of other people / reviewers say, do get married there just don't stay there. For 180 Euro this was the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in and I have previously backpacked in Central America.

No TV, no internet connection from our room (they could put boosters in but clearly don't care) a wet room that does not have an extractor fan so the whole room smelt like a damp mop. The door lock was misaligned so opening with the key was extremely difficult.

The bed was big / the sheets were cleanish (thank you Mr Wainright) and that's about all you get for your money.

As a loyal wedding guest you don't want to complain, so I think management know they can get away with it.

BTW the staff were great and friendly.

Ballymagarvey, truly is an escape to the country, a wonderful setting for a family wedding we attended in July, sun shining on the beautiful old buildings and trees, made way to a balmy evening sitting outside and on into the early hours of the morning. The bridal party & guests were so relaxed, all were taken care of so well, there was nothing that Management had not thought of to make this such a special occasion.

The atmosphere was truly timeless and elegant. The team was amazingly warm and welcoming. Greg the F&B Manager was attentive to all the needs of the bridal party and the guests. He went above and beyond when one of the party felt poorly. Chris the Head Chef and his team delivered a wonderful meal, which was presented so well, tasted magnificent and was served by a super service team, all done with great passion and efficiency. Breakfast next morning was so well done and a big China pot of tea or coffee for each person, all served in the conservatory, it made it all very special and relaxed.

Housekeeping standards were excellent and the team were happy to help with extra pillows etc., where required. The grounds are just so simple, spacious and beautifully kept. It all ran so efficiently from beginning to end. The team in all areas were so friendly and professional, it was 5* all the way and made our time there so memorable. A great place to have a wedding or event and only 30/40 mins from Dublin.

Thank you all for making our experience so special.

Although the venue is excellent as a wedding venue I would not recommend staying in the accommodation here. Numerous friends who stayed said it was far too over priced with very minimal amenities.
