Perfectly situated, friendly hotel. It is within walking distance of the Gaudi buildings and most of the Gothic Quarter. A short taxi ride to anywhere else. The staff was incredible throughout our 5 day stay. The hotel complex includes an excellent restaurant, a wonderful bakery and a casual dining area with music in the evening. The breakfast was very good but a bit pricey. There are options nearby. The room was generous is size but quite sparsely furnished in a minimalist style similar to the Standard Hotels. There were only two drawers making a longer stay a bit more difficult. It seems more suited to a 2-3 night stay. That said, the extremely accommodating staff, overall decor, adjacent facilities and great location make it a great place to stay.

Clean, cool hotel in a good area — very easily walkable (or a short taxi ride) to most neighborhoods and train station. My favorite part was the Libertine Bar/restaurant attached to the hotel. It was a great spot to end the night before going to bed (and/or to start the night by meeting up with friends there!) — hotel has a cool vibe, friendly staff, and affordably priced rooms. I had a few complaints about the cleaning staff entering my room uninvited (they’d knock and enter without giving me time to say I didn’t need their services — once I was napping and the other time I was in the bathroom when they entered my room!) so that was a bit annoying. There weren’t any bolt or chain locks, and I learned that my room was missing the “Do Not Disturb” sign — must’ve been taken by the previous guests. Anyway, all this to say that you should make sure your room has that sign and that you use it when you don’t want to be bothered! All that said, the cleaning crew was very friendly and I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed for 7 days at Casa Bonay and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. It is in a great location with a number of metro station nearby and plenty of great food and drink options all nearby. Whilst situated on a main street, it still has a local neighbourly feel to it.
The property itself is spacious, airy and well designed with very pleasing aesthetics and lighting. I felt very much at home for the last week and was able to enjoy the various spaces not only to socialise but for work and meetings. The various spaces inside the house (and the rooftop) can easily host a work meeting, informal gathering or a cocktail party.
I had the Gran Via Large Room which was a beautifully designed room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking gran via. It is well lit and very spacious for one or even two people. Great amenities from Malin + Goetz and very well sticked mini bar and other nice thoughtful touches. Oh and very comfy bed!
Customer service was a bit mixed but did not take too much away from the experience. Exceptional front desk and housekeeping staff was let down a little by some of the F&B staff who were a bit inconsistent and disengaged in their service and enthusiasm in cleaning and organizing the various spaces.
Rooftop had a great Chiringuito and a Guest Only private space which is a nice touch. Moving around the house was pretty easy with elevators and easy access stairs available.
Casa Bonay was a great space for me to work and rest in the past week but I also won’t hesitate to stay with a friend or partner for a more leisurely experience.

Decided to splurge a little on this hotel as it was the hubby’s birthday trip and it did not disappoint. We were greet by Carmen at the front desk with a warm welcome and informed that we were give a complimentary room upgrade to one with a balcony.
As our room was not ready, she suggested for us to have a coffee at the cafe whilst waiting. Not having had lunch, we decided to have some tapas at the Bodega Bonay. The food was excellent, from the bread to the olives, but most especially the mackerel with tomatoes, which were cooked perfectly.
The room we had was on the highest floor with a lovely view of the residential buildings which looked absolutely charming when the sun rises in the morning. You really get to enjoy it with a nice cup of tea on the balcony.
The rooms are well designed and spacious. I love it when they put functionality into thought when designing a hotel room. There are drawers for your clothes, ample hangers provided on the rack and my favourite of all, a good hair dryer! (not one of those coiled wires attached to the wall, or ones where you have to keep your finder on the button) Another worthy mention is the shower, which has a steady flow of hot water at a nice pressure.
The location is still convenient although on a more quiet stretch of the city as most of the places of interest are within walking distance or a bus/metro stop away. There’s a Carrefour express just around the corner of the hotel and a self service laundry about 4 minutes walk behind the hotel.
This hotel just has pros all the way and I can’t think of a single thing to complain about. Great job, to the team at Casa Bonay for an exceptional stay.

The staff was very accommodating with our changed reservation due to cancelled flights, and that was appreciated. They were always friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to have a room with a separate sitting area and a private terrace. We weren’t really able to enjoy the terrace because there was loud construction outside during the day, but when the doors were closed, you could’t hear much of the construction inside. We had a loud neighbor one night and you could hear his full phone conversations. You could hear neighbors walking in the room above and room doors slamming. The last night, which was Saturday night, the loud thumping music from the bar sounded like it was playing in our room until 1am, which was awful because we had an early train the next morning. We tried to call the front desk to ask how late the party would be keeping us awake, but no one ever answered the phone. If you’re a light sleeper and are looking for a calm and quiet hotel room, look elsewhere. The location is close to all of the tourist sites, and is convenient. The room was attractive and fairly comfortable. There is no door between the room and the sink for the bathroom and the door for the toilet/shower is flimsy, so there is no real privacy if you are traveling as a couple. Shower pressure was great. Hot water pot was very nice to have. We went to Satan’s coffee every day, which was great.

Casa Bonay is a chic boutique hotel in an outstanding location that allows for walking to many places. While the rooms are small they are nicely and simply designed and the interior rooms are incredibly quiet. There are a variety of dining outlets ranging from cool coffee shop to elevated dining restaurant. Casa Bonay offers charm, location and friendly and helpful staff.

We chose Casa Bonay for its design after having read about it in blogs. The days prior to our visit we had been visiting different design hotels in northern Spain. The design was everything we hoped for, a truly beautiful hotel. Unforunately the service was not close to the other hotels. 50 % of the staff were truly genuine and nice, but the other half just seemed too cool for school. They seemed quite occupied with their appearance and made one feel like you bothered them when you asked questions. We were quite disappointed with the breakfast, the things served were delicious but it was too little. We had also booked a room with patio interior but got one towards Gran Vía. We didn’t have the energy to complain but after having lived in Barcelona for 4 years we knew our sleep wasn’t going to be great although these windows were probably better than in most of the buildings in Barcelona. We had an ok stay, our eyes were pleased but we probably won’t come back.

A truly great hotel. The staff are wonderful. The rooms are very stylish and quiet, the bed is like sleeping on a cloud. It’s location can’t be beaten, there’s a metro station two minutes from the front door!

We had four nights across two rooms at the stunning Casa Bonay.
My husband and I stayed in a room that overlooked the Main Street, and the kids had a bigger room overlooking the courtyard, as there were three of them sharing. Both rooms were stunning, my preference would be a courtyard room as it is bigger and quieter.
We ate at both Libertine and Bodega Bonay. Both were excellent. Coffee at Satans coffee was excellent. We also enjoyed the hotel shop and bought many items there, a rally thoughtful curation of items.
The service we received was faultless. The quality of beds, pillows, in room products (Malin and Goez) was all of an excellent quality. We also enjoyed the location, as it was seven minute walk to the main shopping area but you could walk anywhere really. We also enjoyed walking to the Arc Triomphe and surrounding gardens.
Barcelona is truly one of the great city’s and we were so happy to be there. If you are considering a stay at Casa Bonay I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

I would check with the hotel to see if they allow dogs and if the balcony railings are close enough together so they don’t slip through the bars. I would be surprised if they do allow dogs as I can see it being disruptive to other guests if they bark a lot!
The staff is very accommodating and I am sure they will advise you accordingly but it isa great hotel and ideally located for a visit to beautiful Barcelona, woof!
There are more places to choose from in the Barcelona area.
