Had a really good stay at YHA!

• Great location, (easy) walking distance to Great Portland Street, Goodge Street, Regent’s Park and Oxford Circus + multiple bus stops

• Super clean

• Breakfast is nice, would love some kind of hot selection, or just some hard-boiled eggs. But otherwise fine!

• Could do with more showers. With up 8 people per room I didn’t feel comfortable using the en-suite shower so as to not block the bathroom for others, and the hallway showers are very limited in number (plus the one on the ground floor was broken during my entire stay). Not a problem in March, but likely not ideal during high season in summer.

• 24/7 reception is very convenient

• Rooms on the ground floor very fairly loud, so bring earplugs. Though this goes for every hostel trip I guess^^

Overall, great experience. Would definitely come back.

Third time at this yha in london. Friendly staff, clean, fantastic location and great price. However, quality has slipped. Stayed in a 6 bed dorm, all mattresses were very worn out and in need of replacement. Bathroom smelt of mold with visible mold on ceiling. Self catering kitchen furniture (couches) were worn and dirty. Ground floor bathroom in the dorms section closed for complete overhaul. Previous stays on upper floor had a better bathroom/less worn mattresses.
Despite the negatives, given the location and the fact that London has loads of mediocre hostels (think triple level bunk beds and the like), still a pretty good value. Hopefully things will improve once again with the planned refurbishments

I've stayed in a few hostels and this was one of the best. It was particularly clean and the room (4th floor) was nicely designed. Even just having white sheets instead of the usual green made a big difference to the more stylish feel of it. Also there was good storage space in the room, it had a radiator you could control yourself and a window that opened. The ensuite shower was very powerful with plenty of hot water and a handheld shower head (that you could also fix to the wall). The location is fantastic as it is both quiet and central. A pleasant 15 min walk from Euston, and we could walk to museums, galleries shops and theatre. There are many nice eateries in the area.
I also want to mention the staff who were very friendly and helpful. I recommend the breakfast in the calm, spacious bar area on the ground floor. It is simple but gives you just what you need. The self catering did not seem so attractive due to its basement location, although it looked well equipped and organised with lots of fridge space etc. For a calm, central base for a family cultural trip to London I think this hostel is unbeatable.

So after looking at hotels and remembering we previously stayed in a YHA in Manchester, we decided to take a chance with this one! The room was pretty small in comparison, however compared to the Manchester one the bathroom was 10x better! We had a private room with 2 bunk beds (4 beds total) and our own bathroom. It generally seemed really clean not just in our room and beds but even downstairs (I guess with Covid they may do extra than maybe they did before). Tables were clean and there was never a messy table waiting to be cleaned. The fact you can get food till 11pm and hot and cold drinks all night really was handy! The walk from Goodge Street bus stop really wasn’t too far and it is in such a good location to pubs and express supermarkets plus a fair few food places about for convenience. Staff really helped us out by offering a later checkout and even after checkout allowing us to use the lockers so we could store our bags so we could go explore and they didn’t even mind us spending around 3 hours after checkout in the lobby! Hot drinks were affordable (The most I believe I saw you would pay was £2.45 and that was for things like a latte and hot chocolate etc). If they have the orange cake available definitely buy it! The slices are a decent size and it really wasn’t overpowering in orange flavouring!
One gripe we had was that around 2/3am me and my guest went out for a cigarette and a staff member was asking us to move around the corner just because of some random man in another building across the road doesn’t like noise (we weren’t at all loud or drunk, we was talking at normal conversation level) yet round the corner you could hear people cheering and shouting, so what difference would it have made to him? The guy wouldn’t even been able to work out our conversation either compared to those around the corner. Otherwise staff really didn’t seem like we inconvenienced them when we had questions they were really polite and nothing seemed like a big deal. The overall costs within the hostel for like towels, lockers, food and drink were very reasonable especially considering it is in London so we did predict maybe we may pay something around £5 for extra towels and lockers but it was actually less and as previously mentioned drinks on their own were less than £3! Overall a very good experience and we hope to be back again!

Everything about this hostel is superb. It is bright, modern and spotlessly clean and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. My bedroom was beautifully decorated with a lovely mural on one wall and was very well sound proofed and I wouldn’t have known there were other guests staying there if I hadn’t seen them. The ensuite bathroom was of a very high standard with what looked like all new fittings and had a powerful shower. Even the towel, which I hired, was good quality and very large. I felt very safe and secure staying as a single traveller because access to the lift or staircase which led to the bedrooms, was only with the use of a key card so I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

We are now in our 60's and this is the first time we have ever stayed at a youth hostel. How I wish we had discovered them earlier. This was a great venue, central to all the places we had planned to visit and not too far from Euston. The rooms were functional and spotless. The shower was hot and a powerful and the beds comfortable - what more do you need. We loved the little shelves by the beds with a power socket to charge our phones - no scrambling about on our hands and knees to find a suitable socket. Overall, I would highly recommend this venue.

Exceptional location right in the heart of London! 10 minute walk to all popular sights as well as several underground stations. The beds were comfy and had freshly cleaned linen. The room was very clean and smelled fresh and welcoming. The hotel had laundry room and kitchen you could use. Upon checking-in they let us leave our luggage in the hotel before the set time for accessing our room. The room itself was a bit small and there wasn't very much room for luggage, but it was okay for 4 adults. There weren't any towels in the room, however you could rent some freshly cleaned ones from reception for a reasonable cheap price. Reception staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They even helped us ship a forgotten personal belonging upon our check-out. Definitely would recommend the property!

When staying at aa YHA, where ever the location, I'm always impressed by the consistency of the brand. The surprise is in the variety of locations and building styles offered, not in the service and facilities provided - just the way it should be. For a central London stopover then YHA London Central is exactly what 'it says on the tin'!

The location is fantastic - easy walking distance from two Tube stations (Great Portland Street and Warren Street), so travel was a breeze. Having a private en-suite room for the cost of a dorm is amazing. The room was incredibly warm, but they'd put a freestanding fan in, and I used it every night. There was a bit of corridor noise, but that's what you get in a hostel, and I hope they get more bookings as it was all feeling a bit sad and lonely. Great staff.

I'll start by saying that the location is amazing, write on top of everything you want to see in London.
What you should look out for is the facilities. No toiletries or towels, you can purchase a towel, though you can't purchase toiletries.
Water is a bit of an issue to regulate, at least in the private en suite bathroom, where I stayed. You can't have normal pressure with good temperature, either too cold and good pressure, or good temperature and very strong current

I dont know but you can always take your own wipes if you wanted to be sure!. At the moment (Covid 19) my understanding is that no one enters your room whilst you are staying there and the bathroom allocated to you if for your own personal use so its all pretty safe and clean!
