We stayed here for a week or so and have mixed but generally positive things to bear in mind. Depending on what you are after and who you travel with will depend on whether it suits you better or not.
Good (for us)
- The pool was always free to use and quiet if not empty (we went Sept but still warm weather)
- The lobby area always staffed and friendly staff. Nice and clean area.
- The room was floor 5 which gave good views of the city skyline. It has a very small but handy balcony which was a good bonus
- Breakfast option available (we only used x1 day)
- Good beer selection (inc Gluten free)
- Very close to a great hike - only a few mins away behind the hotel leads to a track onto it (images attached)
- Quiet hotel for the most part, making it feel relaxed
- Toursity without being too touristy, many appeared there on business however we didn’t feel out of place.
- Cleaners were very good, room was always cleaned nicely
- Very large double bed with lots of space and comfort
‘Bad’ (for us):
- Unfortunately the 33 Gastro Bar food was incredibly poor. For a hotel diner it looked like it would be quite nice quality food based on the look of the venue, however I was served a pink raw processed chicken burger. The salad on the side was cheap and dry. It was one of those circle ‘heck’ style chicken processed circles not even a chicken breast. And as I say, it was served raw and sent back. I hate to send food back and I’m not some nightmare that eats out to complain, ever, but the food was really poor. My partner had a pizza and he said it was really dire. It did not look good. The staff were pleasant, but the food should be much better than it is and needs work. I would not recommend eating here, it brings down the hotel and doesn’t match the quality of the rest of the place.
Things to consider:
- Nearest metro is a 10-15 min walk (a nice walk through a park however the park shuts at about 9pm and you have to go round).
- The walk up to the hotel from the nearest bus (5 mins) and metro (15 mins) is mostly uphill. We were fine but I believe some people would struggle, for example prams / children / wheelchairs / elderly / poor walking.
- It is quite far out. We found when we went out for the day it was easier to just stay out. It takes around 30-45 mins depending on metro times to reach the coast area. Sometimes more. We couldn’t often be bothered to head back, to change, to head out again, to head back again. It would take up a total of at least 2 hours of your day, likely more. It is not near the main hustle and bustle but it is accessible by metro but just bare in mind the travel time.
- There are no cafes, bars or corner shops nearby the hotel at all (1 x supermarket Lidl approx 10 min walk). You would have to head into the city for bars and cafes etc.
- Airprot approx 20 mins by taxi. This worked fine for us and cost approx 25-30 euros
Just an honest review of things to think about but generally we were pleased with it all.
