My husband and I booked a room at the Lakeview after seeing their website. It should have been a red flag that there weren't any pictures on their own website. Don't be deceived by the picture above - this is NOT what a standard room at the Lakeview looks like. What is a room like there? Old, thick, musty carpet. A dilapidated couch with several questionable stains. The air conditioner didn't work and the lock on the door was broken. The bed had a huge dip in the middle and I did not want to touch it for fear of bugs or leftover body fluids. There wasn't a phone in the room. Typically, everyone has cell phones these days, but the combination of the broken lock and the missing phone made us feel very unsafe. The bathroom was dated but I can live with dated. What I can't live with is a hotel room that is unsafe, smelly and disgusting. It literally looked like one of those cheap, nasty hotels you see in movies or crime shows. My husband and I walked in, took one look at the place, and walked out. I will say that the front desk staff is very polite - they gave us a refund right away, no questions asked, and the young lady there looked very embarrassed when we described the state of the room. Honestly though - do these people think their hotel is not disgusting or do they just not care? I will NEVER stay there.
