Good diving experience

The resort though basic is one of the best places to stay in Moalboal. There is not much of a beach and so we couldn't walk to white beach. We mostly depended on the hotel for meals as it was in an isolated place but took the tryk to Panagsama beach, white beach and back to the hotel. The resident cross alsation dog is very sweet and the kids enjoyed interacting with it. They also loved the Pool. There were a few things that we didnt like, like the lizard in the room, one of the rooms did not close and the room on the top floor did not cool properly. . But overall we liked the our stay here, considering Moalboal is a village which suffers from infrastructure problems like power and water. But we never faced these problems in the resort and would never have known that Moalboal had these problems unless the locals had told us. The highlight of my stay here was the discovery scuba dive. The divemaster Jeff was very patient and we saw 5 Turtles and a lot of corals and fishes. So maybe someday I shall return to do my open water certification here.

Top tier place, I really enjoyed my time staying here definitely the best place I’ve stayed at in the Philippines. The food is great the staff are really friendly and helpful. We nearly missed our flight because we went out the night before but the staff made sure the driver knew we had to get to the airport asap and we made it!! They were also great at giving recommendations for activities during the day and which tour guides to use. Their advice made my time in moal boal unforgettable!!

Rooms are really clean and are very comfortable to sleep in, plus there’s no outside noise when you’re trying to sleep. Views of the sunset are also incredible.

10/10 from me will be staying there again whenever I’m back in moal boal!!

Room tip: Is a little further out than most places but I liked this as it meant the area was quite and easy to chill Would recommend hiring mopeds

We enjoyed our weeklong stay at the Blue Orchid including diving with Jeff, the hardest working Dive Master in the Moalboal area (maybe the Philippines)! The grounds are fabulous with vegetation creating an almost jungle like atmosphere and living up to its name with various orchids growing throughout the resort. If you like a quiet resort away from everything, then this place is for you, and we enjoyed a relaxing stay after the hectic island of Malapascua. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite which is quite large with three separate areas, the bedroom, the TV room, and the upper patio. The bedroom is the only air-conditioned room as the TV room and patio are open air. Our goal was no TV for our month-long vacation in the Philippines, so we really did not use this room. The upper patio has fantastic views of the Tanon Straight separating Cebu from Negros and we enjoyed morning coffee and sunsets from this area. We loved the food and ate here for all meals except one. Michael, the owner, and staff were very friendly and helpful which added to the relaxed atmosphere of this resort. Michael even helped us out with my wife’s illness and demonstrated what a dedicated and compassionate manager he is. Thanks again from Kristi and Brian!!

Room tip: Beds at all four of our resorts were very hard (ouch). The Blue Orchid had most comfortable bed for our stay in the Philippines.

Great hospitality from everyone we met, including the owner Michael. Perfect spot to start your diving experience or improve it with certified PADI instructors. Nathan and Anna were great patient teachers for us.
Ps: Mango juice was amazing.

Room tip: Dont expect to have a big city life here just come to enjoy the amazing ocean and reef and friendly people.

This 'resort' is quite a distance from the main area of moalboal. If you are here for diving or snorkeling, you'll probably love this place for the location and access to sea, but aside from those facilities, there's not much here. Pool was cloudy and dogs were swimming in it, rooms are basic and WiFi over our last 2 days was unreliable, with it not working at all in building 1. No tv, old towels. Breakfast not included, but food offering was OK, as were the drinks at bar. If you have no transport and aren't diving, there's nothing to do here. The owner was very amenable, but was out of the country during WiFi issues.
No safe in the room, though probably not needed here, but it's nice to have the option of reassurance for storing passports etc.
Bathroom door would not shut, door was swollen and needed planing back.

Blue Orchid, General Manager at The Blue Orchid Resort, responded to this reviewResponded April 15, 2024

This resort is pretty well paradise. The Wifi is the very best in the Philippines. We use Starlink and we can stream movies via wifi in every room. We are now apparently recommended highly on a a site for people who work on holiday because the wifi is so good. Whilst you were there the wifi in your building was down and as you know I had just left for Japan for a few days. My staff had it fixed by the next day. To be fair the wifi at the bar and restaurant was still working throughout your stay...it was just corrosion of a terminal on the router for your building. I appollogise. I bought 64 new towels this year. Old towels are only used on the boat by the divers. It is true we do NOT have TVs in the rooms. Only the Honeymoon suite. We are 15-20minutes from the nightlife of Panagsama but quiet at night. Thats how we like it. My grandmother and mother both were hoteliers and I run a team which tries really hard to please. We are really sorry you were not totally happy with us. We can only keep trying our best. Please know that we do listen to your comments and will keep trying harder.

Great setting right at the waterside and excellent for snorkelling. Spent a lovely morning out on their boat trip doing more snorkelling. Only a short walk along the shore at low tide to get to a lovely beach. We found all the staff very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the food too.
