Little Gem, on arrival we were given an upgrade to a renovated garden room which was a lovely surprise. We also received a voucher for a glass of ouzo in the hotel taverna, we enjoyed ours looking at the setting sun. The bottle of wine and nuts in the room was also a nice touch.
The room was spacious, clean and modern with a tv, usb ports, and a large modern bathroom/toilet with a walk-in shower. The wifi was mostly good even by the pool. Good enough for my husband to watch his favorite football team on the ipad.
The possibilities to store clothing and toiletries is limited to a clothes rail and 3 small drawers. In the bathroom a shelf for toiletries would be handy. Another nice touch was the bathrobes and slippers and toiletries.
On our last day we discovered that beach towels were also available unfortunately too late for us but to know this in advance would have saved bringing our own.
Breakfast is served in the garden in buffet style. I feel this lets the hotel down as is not to the standard of the rest of the hotel. Adequate but had a budget feel. I think fresh juice and an omelet station would make it perfect.
The standard of hygiene is high, the room was spotless and the towels always folded in a different style with sweets which was a lovely touch.
The bed was harder than ours at home but we slept well and after asking for extra pillows we slept even better. The airco was good and not noisy.
The hotel didn’t appear to be full during our stay, on our last day the area around the pool was almost full, before this everybody seemed to go to the beach.
We were alone some days….no noise,,, empty pool … heaven!
We loved the lifeguard, he was a delight and after hearing that I am prone to cramp in cold water I noticed that he walked up and down the pool in time to my laps.
I never got his name but hopefully he gets this compliment and that we wish him the best of luck when he joins the army!
The beach is great, lovely lounge beds like by the pool, order a drink and you can use the beds and parasols for free.
Sandwiches and tostis are taken up quickly then the options are only snacks, nuts and ice cream.
No insects or mosquitoes or other pests. Although planes fly directly over the hotel it is not every 5 minutes and in the rooms you can hardly hear it. We enjoyed plane spotting so no problem for us.
Next to the hotel you can find an ATM and the walk to Pythagorio takes about 10-15 minutes, you can get a taxi back. If you hire a car you can park just oustide the centre. For the days you need a gyros pita Elenikon Grill delivers and within 10 minutes! Super!
The tunnel of Eupalinus and the monastery of Panagia Spilani are close by as is the airport and cat shelter (do donate if you can)
All in all a beautifully tranquil place with genuinely friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel it is a good base to explore this lovely island. Upon leaving we were given a miniature bottle of ouzo… yamas
