This hotel was the final stop in our musical roadtrip New Orleans, Memphis and Nashville. I thought I'd splurge and make the last stop special for new year 29 dec -2 jan. I'm ashamed at what I've paid for two rooms for 4 nights for family five.
After an exhausting 4 hr journey in hazardous storm we arrived 3:30pm to an horrendous queue which took 1 hr before 1 room was allocated. A text for 2nd room never came so after 2 hrs waiting in limbo the front desk closed and still no key.
It's the worst checkin experience I've ever had and to be honest no member of staff cares about your experience. I felt like guests were treated like herds of cattle to be moved asap. All very impersonal.

I never ate in the resort due to lengthy queues and closed restaurants. I never sat at a table with a drink enjoying ambiance because no tables.

The videos they play online, in room tv or on reception screens show an experience that is so far removed from reality it should be advertising mis selling. It's very mis leading and as a guest I've feel I've been exploited by the resort.

The resort had no special treatment for guests. The problem is huge number of day visitors come and use facilities you have paid a premium to access. This was beautifully shown on new years eve when we arrived back at the hotel after an Opry show to see swarms of day guests leaving after enjoying new years eve in the gaylord for free.
Soundwaves is 60 dollars plus tax each and must be pre booked. Again guests have no special privilege over day guests who can also book.
There is no control of visitor numbers here. Even without day guests the hotel guests are not cateted for with closed restaurants. Some just open for evenings. Or some just fir breakfast. This results in barriers preventing tables at closed restaurants being used by weary guest who have no where to sit, rest etc.

Caution: resort fee $20 per room per day apply. Plus $200 each room taken on credit card at checkin for incidental which is ridiculous considering how impossible it was to use any facilities.

Management, I did raise these issues twice at your desk. You had the opportunity to deal with this while I was a guest. Your staff simply said "we know, it's because its busy" . Shame on you for offering a sub standard experience at premium prices. An awful guest experience which I will take up with my british airways who booked me in this resort. I only hope that anyone reading this review will be fully aware of what they will get.
No reflection on Nashville which was fabulous.

Hello--

We do apologize for the check-in experience. Our resort is open to the public for many things--however, only guests of the hotel are able to make reservations at our full-service restaurants and SoundWaves, our four-acre waterpark is ABSOLUTELY only available to guests of the hotel, with priority given to those who purchase ticket packages. The resort fee you reference includes a resort savings card, pool, health club, fitness access, in-room enhanced high-speed Internet access, bottled water in rooms, and other amenities. It is advertised on our website, on the confirmation email when you book, and it is detailed on your keycard package when you check in. These items are not available to outside visitors. We are sorry that you experienced us at our busiest time of the year, and we hope that we are able to make a better lasting impression on you in the future.

Thanks,
Tim S.

I've read some reviews on this hotel and decided to stay here. The customer service is non existent. They had 1 person checking in customers and this is one of their busiest times. It took a hour waiting in line to get a room. The food here is completely overpriced and mediocre. Except for Jack's. Which is good but completely overpriced. You have to pay $32 a day for parking and it is a VERY far walk to your room from the lot. When you book online with anyone other than Gaylord they do not tell you that the Waterpark is not included in the price. So if you plan on staying here book through the hotel because you will get a better deal. If not it is 59.00 per person to swim! And if you just want to sit and not swim they still charge you $25. The rooms are very clean though. And they hotel is very pretty inside. That is one major plus. I just wont stay here again. They overcharge on everything....OH and one last thing...one of the stores in there sells Vera Bradley bags...get this one..the same bags that they sell for full price are at the outlet store a mile away. Talk about scamming your customers!

Hello--

Thank you for your visit, and we are sorry that you were unhappy with some of the resort pricing during your stay. SoundWaves, our four acre waterpark, is only available to hotel guests, and the only way to ensure admission is to book a SoundWaves package. The tickets for daily visitors, when available, vary in price determined by peak vs. off-peak days. We do ABSOLUTELY recommend booking directly through Marriott rather than a third-party company, and we are sorry that you were not given adequate information. However, we do have one indoor and two outdoor pools available to our guests to swim in addition to the waterpark.

Thanks for your visit and review.

This place is huge! The lights at Christmas were unreal. The concert was just the best way to spend Christmas Eve. The mushroom soup was so tasty, the main course of chicken tasted just like Grandma made and the chocolate mousse dessert was scrumptious. The service was top notch. I would love to stay at this resort and take in all the Christmas activities.

We've stayed here several times and this, by far, is the best - EVER! Yes - it is true - the staff here is a great team. To a person they demonstrate flawless teamwork and cooperation. Check-in with Anh was fast, courteous, efficient and this time there was very little wait time. This is very unusual for such a large hotel. Everyone at the front desk was hospitable, helpful, courteous and friendly. They understand hospitality. This hotel remains VERY CLEAN. There are maintenance people on grounds taking care of things and when we needed help with the toilet - Steve showed up within 3 minutes. Again - AMAZING for such a large hotel. Everything was clean clean clean and the housekeeping folks were amazing. Irene took care of our room and when I mentioned that we appreciated that housekeeping come in the mornings - she stated "we will take care of you - I promise" and she showed up every morning first thing. There are plenty of restaurants on the property - and - FUSE team is especially helpful, courteous and works well under pressure. We've decided to eat there twice and the food is delicious and the wait staff is fast and efficient. This hotel is worth visiting many times again (PS As mentioned in the earlier review - the hotel is HUGE !!!!! and wonderful.)

Room tip: CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN! If you are here for UCWDC DANCING - get something in Magnolia or Delta - closest to the ballrooms.

I used the mobile check-in on the Bonvoy app to “speed my check in!” What a joke. After waiting a half hour in the mobile check-in line and not moving 1 inch I entered the Elite member check in line. Thank God I’m in Elite right? Well it’s been more than a half hour now and I’m not even halfway through. So I’m looking at an hour and a half total for check in. So how about the poor folks who have to use the standard lines? must be two hours or more? This is just inexcusable

There is not enough space here to go through the details of the issues we had. We had two rooms booked for three days departing 12/29/2019. A 45-60+ minutes wait in every venue for dinner, for mediocre food & beverage (Cascades) and even worse service.
Only 2 restaurants open for breakfast - the Cascades buffet looked terrible with limited variety ( we went to the Waffle House instead and got good food, served fast and friendly.Starbucks staff were rude; Auntie Annies was very dirty, staff obviously overwhelmed. Housekeeping was rude and told us they do not service the rooms daily? really? We had numerous unauthorized charges on our credit card and front office was not helpful at all. Long lines everywhere, including (slow) elevators and bathrooms. Indoor pool got closed due to apparent contamination on Saturday before noon. We stayed in 20+ Marriott properties the past 5 years, Gaylord Opryland was by far the worst. What a decline in standards since 2006...
