Nice pub with good beer garden.
With great views, it's ideal to sit on the benches when it's sunny. Dog friendly.
They have an outside covered area for when it rains.
Only had a drink, didn't order food.
I chose the mixed bean chilli. It consisted of a good mix of beans and was very tasty, but it was too hot (in spices) for general tastes. This should have been stated on the menu. The bean mixture was too dry , it needed to be more juicy with more sauce. Also the rice ( white and wild rice) was a suitable accompaniment but again served too dry. In addition was served corn chips, yet another dry ingredient. The meal was unbalanced, all dry. Instead of the corn chips a crisp green salad with a dressing would have been the ideal accompaniment and would have balanced the hot spices better.
We popped in to the pub around 4pm for food and drinks. The sign outside said food served between 11-3 and 6-9 but we thought we’d ask anyway if there was anything we could order. We also had other questions about kids meals etc. The young lady behind the bar was quite passive aggressive towards us, answering as if we were stupid but with a smile on her face. Her attitude was really bad and she was frankly quite rude which spoiled the experience. I’ve since read other negative comments about a female member of staff so possibly the same lady. I don’t know why she isn’t given training or management haven’t had a word with her.
We ordered food for a hungry child and waited more than 45 minutes for it while people who ordered after us were served first. It was clear they had forgotten about our order.
The location is nice but I wouldn’t choose to go back there because of the service.
Bread from expensive ploughman’s stale, even when changed. We went to local shop for biscuits! As suggested, exploiting their market position
