Simply The Best , Better Than all The Rest

Review of Amarna Resort
Reviewed Mar 9, 2024
The view from our incredibly well appointed and spacious apartment was spectacular, not what I was expecting!!
Uninterrupted water views with a kaleidoscope of colours at sunset only added to the majesty of the accommodation.
The apartment was faultless, with high end fitout and was meticulously clean. The service from all the staff was highly professional , the manager Jessie is a credit to the complex.
The pool and surrounds were immaculately clean for the duration of our stay, coupled with delightful Dutchies Beach just on your doorstep for an ocean swim.
It was indeed the perfect tonic for a well deserved break .
In short FABULOUS

Do NOT stay here if you’re in anyway looking to have fun with a group. There’s a middle aged couple in room 402 that are permanent residents and they will completely ruin your trip.

Not only was he monitoring our every movement, but the audacity to intervene if we were having a laugh or a bit of a yarn, the peeping over the divider between apartment's, the constant calls to reception to complain about the most minuscule issues like having a single friend over for dinner. NYE at 8pm he was screaming at us and I quote “you’ve had enough fun shut it down” with cut throat hand gestures over the fence.

This couple was not only a problem for our group but also another family who have been visiting this resort for decades. The family staying before us had little kids who were swimming completely naked in the pool which I would assume didn’t come with any backlash given the resident in 402 is still waiting for his invitation to Epstein Island.

The room we stayed in (404) had many maintenance issues as well. The living room sliding door is jammed so you’re unable to close it, the 2nd bedrooms ensuite sink has a built in plug which is broken. To drain the water, you need to hold the cap up.

Lastly, the property manager WITHOUT knocking, opened and entered our room to relay some complaints from room 402 and without asking questions, assumed the complaints from room 402 were true. Absolute invasion of privacy and outright illegal.

Very high quality resort with excellent standard of fittings and furniture. The apartment is very roomy and very well finished. The outdoor space is immaculate and the views of the beach and bay are exceptional. We went for an evening walk along the beach and saw dolphins playing in the bay.

This was a fantastic apartment, with a beautiful view and very well appointed. It was spotlessly clean, everything worked, everything was as advertised. We had a lovely time, and we were very grateful to receive a lovely basket of goodies on our arrival. The view from the apartment was absolutely beautiful, and the access down to the private beach really made it feel exclusive. I would highly rate this accommodation, there were three adults in a three bedroom apartment – apartment 301. We all absolutely loved it and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Every bedroom was lovely, and we were all very very comfortable.

Room tip: The parking space for apartment 30 one is challenging

Amarna resort is in a stunning position overlooking beautiful Dutchman’s beach at Nelson Bay. The staff were very professional and helpful.
Breakfast provisions for the first morning were a lovely welcome touch.
A boutique hotel, with spacious rooms but appartments on the ground floor lack privacy as they are beside the pool and it’s disconcerting when people look into your living room & kitchen. Better and quieter to be on the next floor up!
The hotel was only 50% full on the 3 days midweek that we stayed. We were very happy except for some guests not adhering to the terms and conditions that are agreed when booking. On our first day another guest parked in our allocated parking space for 101 twice despite the staff’s requests to use their allocated parking space.
On our second day a family kept yelling out at the pool encouraging and cheering every time their young child jumped into the pool from the ledge of the spar right outside our apartment. It went on for well over 1/2 hour.
We kept hoping they would stop after a few times, but despite that they could see us sitting in our outside area, even when it got dark and our lights turned on, it continued. We had to go inside, it was so loud. From inside our living room I eventually heard the mother say the child must come in for his bath, to our relief after a couple more jumps they left.
The Amarna could do with a facelift and update as signs of wear are evident. The huge mirrors in our bathroom and walkway were badly stained and tarnished, the dated built-in coffee machine ought to be replaced with a current user friendly Nespresso machine. The decor and colours are in need updating to a more current style for a luxury resort in such a beautiful position. Perhaps more car spaces need to be allocated to those who book into penthouses or larger appartments.

Room tip: Avoid the ground floor it’s beside the pool. Select a higher floor for privacy and quietness

Just spent 4 relaxing nights at Amarna.
Perfectly positioned steps from the crystal waters of Dutchies beach and with a large pool overlooking the beach and Port Stephens this has to be the pick of the crop in this area.
We had a generously proportioned 1 bedroom unit with excellent fittings and appliances and a very comfy bed!
Kayaks and SUP’s are available and it’s a short walk to the restaurants and cafes of Nelson Bay.
Highly recommended.
