Spent one night here and if the weather had been a bit warmer def would have used the balcony with great views overlooking the lake. Room was comfortable and had everything we needed, would have been even better with a slightly bigger fridge with decent freezer though for travellers its ice bricks. It is only a few minutes drive from the Main Street where there are heaps of shops and restaurants. Staff were all very helpful and it is a nice quiet park

Unfortunately it was not a very good experience. We booked two cabins for our family, it was advertised as lakeview cabins, swimming pool incl. Swimming pool was not opened, instead of lakeview we had a building place view. The reception Lady ( not very friendly) stated that they didn't know that building works would start at this particularly days ( 19.02.2024) and that swimming pool would be close ??? It was very hot these days, all the visitors were deeply upset and disappointed that swimming pool was not opened. It should be informed before hand, sure many of visitors including us would have canceled this trip. It's not the way to host the visitors.

You are right, there is some recent disturbance in a section of the park, as there are new units (built offsite) being put in on the hillside and so some preparation is required for that. It was very regrettable that we were unable to give guests more notice of the pool closure - we were only given less than one day's notice by a contractor and all the material was already on the way to repair the floor in the pool area to make it safer. We always attempt to provide an awesome holiday destination and apologise profusely that this wasn’t the case for you. Great friendly park to stay, plenty of amenities and facilities, pool, mini golf, playground and jumping pillow for kids. Huge camp kitchen. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again. Was a very popular park with lots coming and going. Just outside of Hahndorf right opposite the market, great location. Only negative is no fly wire doors on the cabin.

Stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bed cabin cost - $667.95. The location is very pretty and if we had brought a Caravan we would not have experienced hardly any of the issues. But the issues are Serious and worth noting if you plan to stay here.
Poor Maintenance
During our stay my partner was helping our 6 year old daughter out of the shower when the shower door came off in my partners hands.
The door (see Photos) is heavy glass or reinforced plastic door at least 20-25kg and I had to help her to move the door to a safer location.
Also during our stay the circuit breaker tripped whilst using a toaster.
Poor Standards & Items not working correctly.
There were also basic issues with:
- dirty drinking glasses used placed back into cupboard,
- shower fixtures, shower head fitting 20mm away from wall (see Photos),
- shower mould (grout needs a thorough clean and/or replacing),
- dodgy aircon unit (had to turn off at night due to noise)
- internet signal not strong enough & screencast not working on TV
- went for a BBQ by the lake but it was out of order
But we're really concerned about the shower door and the electrics.
Poor Customer Service
When leaving the accommodation we explained the issue with the shower door and the electrics (we didn't mention the additional basic issues above). We asked for a senior member of staff to call us back regarding the safety issues.
Two days later we received a call from a receptionist stating the shower door had been fixed 6 months prior and was pleased to say it's been fixed again this week. Minimal apology, no mention of the electrical issue, no discount and no customer service.
No idea what has changed, but this is our 2nd visit to DiscoveryParks Handorf we stayed here in February 2023 and had a few days there and had a great time in a cabin 2 doors down from where we stayed.
We still await and would like contact, from a manger or person in authority from Discovery Parks with an explanation of their customer service policy regarding serious safety issues and do they think their response is adequate.
We've contacted and reported the events to the ACCC and await their response.
If you are thinking of staying here the scenery, location and proximity to Hanhdorf is wonderful. We live in Adelaide and this was going to be a base for us to take the kids frequently and explore the Adelaide Hills. Due to our experience (dodging heavy glass doors isn't fun) we would never set foot here again.
Powered caravan site was truly outstanding. Views over the valley. Friendliest front staff. Magnificent ablution block. Stroll to Hanhdorf. Strong Optus coverage. Even the dump point is first class.
This is one of the very best caravan parks we have ever stayed in and I've been towing vans for 30 years. Would give 6 stars if I could!
