A very relaxing place to stay

Reviewed May 25, 2019via mobile
I stayed at Suly for around 8 days this month to get away from all the hustle and bustle back home and found the resort very relaxing and quiet. The service at the restaurant from the young girls was great and they would always come over and look after me and see if I needed anything.

A few things however could be improved and I’m am writing this review, not to hate on the resorts but to provide some constructive criticism as I can see the resort has loads of potentials and I feel that is what the owners are trying to fix.
The resort itself looks like it is a old temple grounds kinda with that very Indo/Hindu feel for it. The buildings however look very run down and not maintained. Some of the gardens and aqua ducts around look very overgrown and the open water sources means there’s loads of mosquitoes around. There is 2 pools/relaxing areas in the resort however one pool is completely empty and needs maintenance and repairs done to it. If this were to be up and running again it would be a fantastic area and would attract a lot more people to the resort. The second pool at the rear of the resort is nice however still looks like it needs some TLC and proper filtration done as the water looked someone murky at times. I still swam it it and luckily didn’t get any skin conditions. Some of the tiles are loose and some have broken off also. Nice little area for some sun bathing everyday though.
The accommodation building is where most of the guest are housed. Not too bad for the price is paid however the bathrooms could use abit of a scrub up the walls and floors and perhaps some adequate plumbing maintenance for the shower drain could be conducted as I found my drain would often clog up and flood my bathroom during my shower.
The shower heads also need to be changed as the brackets point the shower head directly across to the shower screen instead of above you facing down. It was also annoying to try and adjust the shower temperature at times and found myself getting scolded by hot water. Just found it easier to shower cold.
The rooms and bed was not too bad, had a lot of ants and bugs in my room but I was too fazed having slept in the dirt and jungle in my military career however I can assume more precious guests would find this uncomfortable. None ever found their way into my bed.
Suly has several activities which guests can participate in if desired. I believe it was one for that ladies that managers the resort conducts different styles of yoga morning and night on most days, I never participated as I was off doing yoga at Yoga Barn however they look decent. There’s is also a Pyramid meditation centre on the grounds where anyone could enter and take some time out there to mediate. I found it very hard to meditate in here though as it was very hot and would come out sweating. The resort is also surrounded by rice paddies which you can go for a walk around and through. Found this quite nice in the mornings just after sunrise.

Overall for the price I paid this is a great resort to just take some time out and get away from it all which is what I went to ubud to do. Highly recommend this place for those want a solo kinda getaway and looking to do it cheap. Thanks for having me there

This place has the potential to be absolutely amazing, except it is completely run down :/ when we got there they didn’t have our booking in there system (which we had booked months ahead of time), we got to our room and it wasn’t clean at all. The towel to the bathroom had black foot prints on it, the floors were disgusting, there was mold and ants on the walls, and the beds were wet. My friend and I didn’t stay the night here as it felt so grotty. Was such a shame as it could of been such a beautiful place if they had of looked after it better... would not recommend

We stayed here with three children in a delux room. We had enough space for us all, good a/c, lovely terrace. Kids could run around freely, swim in the pool or play with plants.
Restaurant food is vegetarian, good choice, we all enjoyed it. Very yummy breakfast.
It's very quiet there and I could relax and not worry about noise, safety of kids or too little space.
It's quite far from Ubud center, though.. Walking takes 45min. and it's a very busy road, unpleasant walk. There's a shuttle but only twice a day. Also, laundry is expensive..

Didnt like my stay there, everything was so discusting.. we’ve paid for 5 nights, booked thru agoda.. we had to send picture to them to get a refund.. and spend the 5 nights in another hotel. At least we had a good stay in ubud since we left this place !

It was an absolute delight to be able to have so much peace and tranquility from the busyness of Ubud. Ive stayed in Ubud many times and this is a real inexpensive retreat from it all. I stayed in the older heritage bungalow room with a garden view. Seeped in traditional Balinese design, marble and wood features once being its pride has seen its hay day but I appreciate it all so much, the newer complex is where most of the guest stay. Don't come here with a magnifying glass you'll miss the real ambiance of this magical place. Friendly courteous staff, with a meditation pyramid at the back you can enjoy anytime of the day. I also enjoyed the vegetarian food from the restaurant when I didnt want to go into town.

Room tip: I really enjoyed the spacious older style garden room
