Isolated and quiet

Reviewed Mar 24, 2020
Isolated located about 30mins from Monreal Port. Friendly, helpful staff.
My delux fan room facing the sea was large. I still had the option of having aircon but looking at the size of the unit I didn't think it was worth the extra cost. The room was never warm anyway so I was happy with the pedestal fan. The bed had clean linens. There was also a table and chair, kettle, shelf unit and a drying rack. Lighting was okay. Power point at the table for recharging.
Large bathroom with good lighting. Separate recessed shower with hot water and good pressure.
My porch had a bench chair and a hammock. Each bungalow has their own foot wash tap which is handy.
Room cleaning upon request.Laundry service available.
The restaurant has a decent menu. Meals for lunch and dinner have to be preordered 2-3hrs in advance. More expensive but understandable given the location. They have wifi at the restaurant only but it is very slow if you can get a connection. But they do tell you. Even my internet data did not connect.
Most tourists come here for the diving. I came just to see the waterfall. Walking along the beach it is sad to see so much plastic trash.
Overall, the accomodations, food and service is very good. Even if you just want to lie back and chill with peace and quiet this place is as good as any.

This resort is quite remote but it does have electricity and hot running water for an indoor shower! What more could you want?
The beachfront cabin was lovely, the bed comfy and view fantastic.
Staff were delightful and helpful, the diving was fantastic. We saw the whale sharks that we came for, the only disappointment was lack of Manta rays.
We enjoyed the extra day's island hopping trip and dives (due to extra days while we tried to get out of the country because of Corona virus). The resort was very helpful with arrangements to modify our stay and help us get back to Manila.
A great experience even if the holiday was overall cut short.

Room tip: Definitely go for the beach front, others would be disappointing.

The Ticao Island Resort may not be the easiest place to get to, but then the best dive resorts tend to be off the beaten track. I spent a week at Ticao towards the end of January - what a place. I wanted for nothing... ...and certainly didn’t miss my phone, the doorbell or internet!!! The beachfront cabana was simple, but nipping clean, with effective air con and oodles of hot water. The restaurant staff ensured that my waistline continues to challenge the confines of my Sharkskin and the office team were ever-present with a smile. However, Ticao was about the diving. The dive centre is very friendly and effectively run. I enjoyed a great boat team and dive guide, who dropped us in the right place without fail... ...and swiftly fished us out at the end of every dive. Elvin had the misfortune of guiding for me throughout my stay! His timing was impeccable and ability to peer through the viz unmatched. In six days of diving, we encountered whale sharks on nine occasions and concluded the trip with a Thresher! Who could ask for more?! It might have been my first visit to Ticao, but hopefully it won’t be my last. Thanks to all for a great week.

Room tip: Beach cabanas were great.

Arriving to the resort for a white sandy beach with palm roof cottages - sounded so idyllically but was so far from the truth. Went for a relaxing beach take-off and ended up in a Bay resort where you do not dare dip your toes in the water... Staff however is really nice

Room tip: Do not expect to go for a swim unless you want to play games with your health

Great food. great dives and nice staff. Thanks to Janjan who was our dive master during our stay. It also nice that the resort became a partner with LAMAVE that conducts studies with the Mantas of Ticao. I had learned so much from them. The staff especially Grace and the others in the resort are very accommodating. I will not forget also the big telescope to monitor if there's any dynamite fising around the area of Manta Bowl.

What a place. A quiet spacious resort, with wonderful native-style high quality chalets, all set along a fine fringe of white sand fronting a quiet sheltered bay. Oh, and they have mantas as well! We got lucky and saw some of these fantastic creatures on the very last of the six dives we made over two days at Manta Bowl. You need to be patient, and of course be prepared for disappointment if nature decides not to play when you visit. That's diving. You also need to be experienced and confident with currents to go see the mantas, as the site is very exposed. There are other sites to visit which are more suited to less experienced divers, but we were on a mission so didn't visit them.

There is a research unit on-site studying the mantas and collecting photos for identification purposes, and they are happy to share their knowledge and experiences.
The food portions are big and surprisingly good value, so the full board option is not absolutely necessary if you don't need it. We had a great time and dent mind that it is quite remote....it's part of the charm, but if internet service is important to you, best to bring your own, or just drop off the matrix for a few days

Room tip: Beachfront cabanas are the best, but there are budget fan rooms available....just enquire directly with the resort
